Avalanche Lake - Glacier National Park, Montana

Thank you to everyone who has recently added me to their circles. I decided to recently reprocess some images from a Summer trip to Glacier National Park last year. This image is from a day hike up to Avalanche Lake taken in late June on the Solstice. Thanks for taking a look. :)

"Fall's End"

Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet. ~ Bob Marley

Best if viewed on black, so please click on the image.
I'm excited about getting out and shooting some Fall color in a few weeks and decided to revisit this image taken a couple of years ago, as I was never really happy with it. My processing workflow has changed quite a bit since then, so I have been going through a lot of older images and reprocessing them. This shot was taken on a terribly rainy day in late October during a hike in the Columbia River Gorge with my fiancé Ryan and friend Miles Morgan. While we were all completely drenched and a bit worried about potential water damage to our gear, it was still an absolute blast and I loved every minute.

"Entrancement"

The New Year brings a colorful sunset display reflecting in the calm coastal waters during a chilly, but very enjoyable evening along the Oregon Coast. This is one of my favorite coastal locations and I'm looking forward to hopefully returning sometime this Winter.
Thank you for taking a look.

"Ghostly Coast"

This was taken on a gloomy, stormy day at Cape Kiwanda last winter. While there was no colorful light to speak of that evening, I thought that the dramatic wave action and misty, spooky sort of atmosphere made for an interesting transfer to black and white.
Best of viewed on a darker background. Thank you for taking a look.

"The Overlook"

Sunrise approaches Wynn Mountain and the Swiftcurrent Creek area, as viewed from a nearby overlook. A very well-known view in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park in Montana. This was my first time scrambling up to this general area and I must say, it really is quite incredible...yet also a bit scary doing it in the dark at 4:30 am before sunrise and running on 3 hours of sleep. I opted for a viewpoint slightly lower the the more commonly photographed scene when I came across this lone tree, which I found to be interesting in appearance.
Definitely best if viewed on a darker background.

Renewal

I never got around to sharing this one on Google+, so I figured I should throw it out there. This image of Mount St. Helens was taken on an early Summer morning and was the first time I had the chance to see this spectacular mountain in all of its glory. It was a scene like no other I had ever witnessed. A landscape with obvious evidence of the famous eruption. Yet, it was miraculous how much recovery had already taken place in just a little over 30 years as well. I tried my best to capture that here. I absolutely love red paintbrush wildflowers, so I tried to get close up to this patch in the area that made for a nice foreground.

"Shades of Green"

A very well known scene of Punchbowl Falls with lush greens during the Springtime. It's been a few years since I've been back there. I've opted this year to explore more of the waterfalls here in Washington State instead. Despite how much traffic is generally on the trail and how often it's shot, I miss this area regardless.

Kiwanda at Dusk - Oregon Coast

Here's an image I took a few weeks ago during a great weekend trip to Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon Coast. I tried to create more of a misty, dreamy effect here with the water and tide as the night was settling in. This is a long exposure taken with a 6 stop ND B+W filter to slow down the shutter speed. Thanks everyone for taking a look. :)

It's been a while since I've posted any macro shots, so I thought I would share an image that I took of one my favorite Spring flowers, bleeding hearts. These always remind me of little girls with pink pigtails ;)

I decided to post one more image of this handsome little guy from a trip to Mt Rainier back in January. Hanging out with a fox while photographing a gorgeous sunset makes for a pretty awesome evening all around.

If you enjoy looking at breathtaking images of mountain scenery and landscapes, I highly recommend the incredible work of +Ryan Dyar. I'm consistently blown away by his images and he is definitely a top-notch photographer to have in your circle. Plus, he is hilarious and generally has an entertaining story to go along with his images.

Trying to keep the ball rolling here by sharing an image everyday. Some new, some old. This is an old jammer. Still one of my favorite mornings of photography ever. I thought I was going to freeze my man-parts off standing in this frigid water for about an hour soaking wet.___If you enjoy looking at breathtaking images of mountain scenery and landscapes, I highly recommend the incredible work of +Ryan Dyar. I've always had a thing for water lilies. I took this image a few years ago while exploring one of the nature reserves near my home town in the Midwest.

Thank you to everyone who has circled me recently. This is an image taken last year at Fisherman's Bay on Lopez Island, one of my favorite places to capture sunsets. Those who are native to the PNW are probably already familiar with the San Juan Islands. I highly recommend paying a visit if you have never experienced the beauty there.
