Spring has sprung! ...finally

After all the cold weather, up until very recently, I can tell that Spring is finally upon us. How can I tell you ask? Well, because I simply can't breathe. My nose is stuffy, I can't stop sneezing and my eyes are itching. A couple years ago I tried eating a spoonful of locally harvested honey to help with my allergies. That was an epic fail. It made me really sick.

For the most part I refuse to take prescribed or over the counter medications.  I prefer a more natural remedy if it is at all possible. I looked up natural remedies for allergies and came across this article. Are any of you taking any natural remedies to help with allergies? What has and what has not worked for you?

The day has finally come. I'm in need of a few news articles to test some things out for work. I figured I'd walk on over to Google Plus and not only grab some articles but get to read stuff that I'm interested in.

I scrolled and I scrolled and I scrolled some more. Not one damn article. My heart is sad. This used to be a place of information overload for me. I relished in it.

Today was Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. Which for us meant rolling out of bed and walking to the computer. Alexa did my filing, opened mail and helped reconcile the bank accounts in Quickbooks. I absolutely love this little girl!

I've never wanted an XBox Kinect game so bad in my life. I've been wanting to purchase a Stormtrooper helmet anyway. Having this game would give me another reason to buy it. My kids would die of embarrassment and I would relish every moment of it.

Fast, easy, healthy and most importantly yummy.

I normally re-post recipes that I see in my stream that look delicious and I'd want to try. This time I'm sharing with you a recipe that I've actually tried. Monday I made this recipe as I've been searching the web for healthier options for me and my family. It was scrumdiddlyumptious! The pork chops were perfectly moist and tender. The apples and red onion combination suited the garlic smashed potatoes perfectly. It's hard to not want to add a ton of butter into the potatoes, as habit would dictate, but well worth not adding in the long run.

This recipe is perfect for a week night. There was little preparation time needed, I had most of the ingredients on hand and the entire meal is cooked on the stove top. At only 413 calories per serving you can't go wrong.

People grow and mature at different rates. Some people need to learn life's lessons the hard way. It is easier to be understanding and compassionate of others than it is to be critical and judgmental. Do not allow the negative words and actions of others stifle your growth.

Yes it has taken me my lifetime to learn this, understand this and to implement this.

I finally reached my small goal 3 days ago of losing 10 lbs and was able to maintain it. Today I set a new goal for my next 10 lbs. I found that setting small goals helps me to achieve them. When I initially started trying to lose using the Lose It app in October I set my ultimate goal and it just seemed so out of reach that I lost my ambition to get there. A little over a month ago I set my goal to something smaller and attainable. Basically playing a mind trick on myself. Being able to see smaller numbers on a daily basis really helped me stay motivated. So today I put in a new goal of an additional 10 pounds. A wise man once told me "Slow and steady wins the race".

I am now down a total of 17 pounds since the beginning of 2012. I see a new bikini in my future for the summer of 2013. Yay me!

Happy Valentine's Day

Coursera offers free online classes through some of the top universities. Earlier this year I took a Computer Science class through Stanford University completely free. Granted you don't receive college credits but you do empower yourself with a knowledge that you might otherwise not have been afforded. Some of the courses do, however, offer an opportunity to earn a Verified Certificate. This may be useful to add to either your resume or further yourself in your current position.

For the past several weeks I haven't been feeling up to par. I've been sleeping more than normal which is usually a sign of depression with me but I knew that couldn't be possible. Then I thought I wasn't feeling well because I hadn't been to the gym in about 3 weeks but I didn't have the strength nor energy to go. I decided that my body was probably missing something vital that it needed.

After a scare that I might be coming down with the funk on Monday I made a trip to GNC and picked up the Women's Ultra Mega Energy. Within just a couple days I was feeling much better. Mind you I still don't feel 100% but I feel much better than I have in several weeks. Even with all this gloomy weather I don't feel like staying in bed and sleeping all day.

This week I broke the silence on my story after 20 long years. For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to tell my story, by my account. I'm thrilled that for the first time, the world can finally know the truth. More importantly, I'm hoping that my story can help others. I'm hoping that my story can show victims of kidnapping or any form abuse that there can be light at the end of the tunnel. I'm hoping that my story inspires victims to not let their past incidents define them.

Where do we go from here? I don't know yet. Right now I'm happy to be heard. I am astounded by the outpouring of support! I could have never dreamed that my story has, and will touch so many people's lives. All of the the kind words of bravery and inspiration that I've recieved are truly moving. Thank you.
