Rangoli - Beautiful art of India
Rangoli, also known as kolam, is a very popular art in India. They are decorative designs made on living room and courtyard floors during Hindu festivals and in front of their doors or gates. The patterns are created with materials like white/colored flour and flower petals.
Most of the drawings in rangoli draw inspiration from nature and you would find depictions of flowers, peacocks, etc., and a lot of geometric designs as well. The purpose of rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck, joy and happiness.

Dangerous Himalayan Roads, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India
Kinnaur, surrounded by the Tibet to the east, is in the northeast of Himachal Pradesh. The old Hindustan-Tibet Road passes through the Kinnaur valley along the bank of river Sutlej, which is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. In the July-August season its quietness, wonderful views and mysterious atmosphere make it a great area to explore.

Aabid Surti - saving every drop of water
Aabid Surti is a National Award-winning Indian author, painter, cartoonist, playwright and screenwriter besides being a one-man NGO out to save every drop of water
The 77-year-old takes out some time every Sunday for seven years now, going door-to-door in Mira Road, a suburb of Mumbai, with a plumber in tow, asking residents if they need their tap fixed for free!
Annually, Aabid Surti visits an average of 1,600 homes and fixes around 400 leaky taps, saving around 414,000 litres of water. His reward? “A lot of water saved. And sometimes, an offer for lunch,” he says simply. It could be estimated that he has single-handedly saved at least 1.5m litres of water till date.

Amazing Living Root Bridges, Meghalaya, India
Meghalaya is one of the world’s wettest regions, receiving some of the highest rainfall ever recorded. One of the challenges that rears-up every year is that of the raging rivers. Crossing these rivers becomes a near impossibility due to the intense rains and wild torrents. However, the people of Meghalaya have been practicing a centuries-old tradition of coaxing tree branches and roots to form natural bridges!
Some of the bridges are over a hundred feet long and can support the weight of fifty or more people. One special root bridge, believed to be the only one of its kind in the world, is actually two bridges stacked one over the other and has come to be known as the Umshiang Double-Decker Root Bridge. Locals have been using these bridges for over 500 years

Indian Anna (ana) - Former currency unit of India
An Anna (ana) was a currency unit formerly used in India, equal to 1/16 rupee. It was subdivided into 4 paise ( 1 Anna = 4 paise and 16 Annas = 1 Rupee). The Anna is not commonly used since India decimalized its currency in 1957.
Denominations of 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 2 Annas were available and 25 Paise colloquially referred to as 4 anas (Chawanni) and 50 Paise as 8 anas (Atthanni) were available later.

World Environment Day
Think.Eat.Save is the theme for this year’s World Environment Day celebrations. This is an anti-food waste and food loss campaign that encourages you to reduce your foodprint.
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, 1 in every 7 people in the world go to bed hungry and more than 20,000 children under the age of 5 die daily from hunger. Food preservation is an effective way of saving food and preventing it from being wasted or lost.
So think before you eat and help save our environment!

Is there more to Indian sports than Cricket? Apparently not
Great read on what happens to Indians who dare to dream beyond Cricket. Apparently the country knows and supports only one sport and all others be damned.
+Gaurav Shinde is a personal friend and I've seen his battle to fulfill his dream. I've seen the struggle because of lack of funds. Seriously, might as well abolish all sports from the country. Why bother!

Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), Jaipur, India
Sheesh Mahal is a famous hall of mirrors situated inside the Amber Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in 1592, Sheesh Mahal is part of the Jai Mandir and is exquisitely beautified with glass inlaid panels and multi-mirrored ceilings.
The mirrors are of convex shape and designed with colored foil and paint which would glitter bright under candle nights at the time it was in use.

Dudhsagar Falls, Goa, India
Dudhsagar is one of the world’s most exquisite falls - situated on the River Mandovi on the Goa-Karnataka border., This is one of India's tallest waterfalls and it is spectacular during the monsoon season.
You can see the Amaravati Express crossing the waterfalls and kudos to the Indian Railways who built this route in such a terrain.

Google Plus Private Post Tip...
Google Plus Basics
If a post inside Google Plus is shared with you 'privately'... You may want to see who else is getting the post as well Before You Comment or interact.
To do that, click on the Blue Words Shared privately near the top of the post (1) and it will flip the post over to show you who else received or was included in the 'private share'.
Flip it back again in the upper right (2) to enter your comment, etc.
Note: Many newbies in Google Plus share to a circle instead of the Public by accident. When you share to a Circle only, then the post is considered to be a "Private Post". When you share to the "Public" then it is not private, and anyone can see it.
In the past these were called 'limited' posts. The visibility of who a post has been sent... more »

This is a nice g+ tip from +John R. Ellis
How to Lock Plus Mentions on Private Posts
In a "Shared Privately" post, if re-shares are enabled, you can add people to it by Plus Mentioning them.
On the other hand, if the author disables re-sharing on a PRIVATE post - that also blocks everyone from Plus Mentioning anyone into the post.
This prevents adding new people to the post/conversation.
