Proof that you should never work with children and animals, this was our first attempt at photographing a kiwi chick at Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park a few weeks ago!

The church of the good shepherd by Lake Tekapo has to be one of the most photographed locations in New Zealand. But this photo by Sebastian Warneke has to be one of the best we have ever seen and we are pleased to be adding it to our range of postcards.

Check out Sebastian's work at http://500px.com/sw_arts.

This spot on the end of Rawhiti Rd in the Bay of Islands has to be one of our favourite bits of coast line in New Zealand. A short climb took us to a magical spot which offered amazing views whichever way we looked. It's been one of our best selling postcards and we are now pleased to be able to offer large posters, prints and canvases of this image so you can enjoy the view in your own homes. Check it out at our new website at

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us to achieve this incredible milestone. If your passing today, don your party hat and join us for a glass of bubbly, but be quick as it won’t last too long around here!

This image was probably my favourite image I took whilst at Queenstown with the family a couple of years ago. Taken from a great spot on the end of Kelvin Heights golf course looking out over Lake Wakatipu, it was one of those rare moments when the wind, sun, clouds and waves all lined up perfectly. Got love those moments! Two years later I am happy to see this image has finally made it into our range of postcards!

On 24 February 1912, the TSS Earnslaw was launched. My favourite fact about New Zealand's largest steamship is that it made a brief appearance in the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull movie as an Amazon River boat.

Nowadays, a scenic cruise of Lake Wakatipu on the vessel is now one of Queenstown’s iconic experiences.

Timing photos of the Shotover Jet hurtling through this beautiful canyon was made that little bit harder/fun when the driver (I am sure deliberately!) manages to spray me and the camera on every pass! Either the passengers were grinning at the antics or were grinning in fear at the thrill ride of hurtling through this narrow canyon!

We are pleased to announce that we have launched this image as a new design in our range of cards.

There are not many sunrises at Wanaka in which this famous tree is not being photographed, and on the morning this photo was taken a couple of months ago we met two other photographers on the beach. As per usual we provided entertainment for these photographers by sticking our waders on, traipsing out into the cold waters and contorting ourselves into strange positions in a bid to find the perfect angle.

With both Phil and myself tackling the tree from different angles we had a choice of images. But we felt this classic view taken by Phil just as the first rays of sun were hitting the tree was the best version for our postcards and we are pleased to be launching it this week along with a few other Queenstown/Wanaka/Cromwell images. We'll share the other images over the next couple of weeks, but if you can't wait that long check them out on our website

With our postcards now being sold in most of the top tourist attractions in New Zealand, we get to visit some very cool places. But the award for the tourist attraction with the best view probably has to go to Skyline Queenstown, and on our recent visit here we couldn't resist sticking around to take a photo. Especially as waiting for sunset involved the challenge of an all you can eat buffet! With our belly's full we waddled the few steps out to the balcony and lined up this composite shot of this well photographed scene.

An amazingly cute two week old Kiwi Chick, the perfect remedy for those Monday morning blues! This chick was photographed at Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park and at the time weighed a tiny 184.5 grams. It is the first chick from father Koko and mother Kopu and we are pleased to announce that it can now be found in our range of postcards!

The Waikato river flowing under the iconic Fairfield Bridge in Hamilton. A shot that took us several visits to find and achieve but all came together perfectly when the sky lit up on route home from a shoot at the Kiwi House in Otorohanga. Released this week as a postcard, we think it's going to make a great addition to our developing Waikato Range.

We were challenged by a store in Cambridge to get an image of Maungatautari (or Sanctuary Mountain ) surrounded by morning mist. We rose to the challenge and after several trips this was the image we chose for our postcard range. These misty morning in the Waikato are great for photography, and on this morning we could have been pointing in any direction and taken a beautiful shot of the mist sitting in the valleys.

I (Ben) have just come back from a weekend staying at a friends bach in Whiritoa. It's a beautiful beach and the changeable weather over the weekend made for challenging photography. The first morning, I lined up a shot, and the sky lit up in these incredible colours, Unfortunately I'd lined up a shot the other way! So I ran across the beach and took this shot. A few seconds later it was all gone again! Was very thankful for the new Tripod (thanks Carters Photographics ) made me realise how slow I was with my old clunky one!

Somewhere in this photo is the Dino of White Island . Who I imagine is a little nervous having had an 4.9 earth quake hit nearby today!

Maungakiekie or One Tree Hill in Auckland. This popular site in Auckland provided the name for the U2 Song, which was was written to pay tribute to Greg Carroll who was an New Zealand employee of the band. This song in turn was the inspiration for the name of the US teen drama, One Tree Hill.

The wild West Coast of New Zealand provides some amazing scenery, and Motukiekie Beach is a prime example. As a bonus, at low tide brightly coloured orange starfish can be seen clinging to the rocks. This makes for great photography as this design shows. The photo was taken by photographer Christian Lim and is one of my new personal favourites in our range. Check out his other amazing work at https://500px.com/christianlim .

We have just released twenty two new designs just in time for Christmas, including a range for East Otago. This is our chosen design from St Clair Beach in Dunedin. After getting soaking wet in the stormy sea, we ended up choosing a calmer image from the shoot which was taken just after the sun had popped down. The ten stop helped tame those waves and create the final serene image.

40 minutes on the road to Auckland from Tauranga takes you through the stunning, Karangahake Gorge. On the edge of The Coromandel it's a great spot with lots of beautiful short walks through the gorge some of which pass through old tunnels from when the area was mined for gold. This was our first attempt at getting a postcard shot of the gorge. Though we liked this image we felt as though it didn't sum up the gorge experience enough... so keep your eyes peeled for the image we eventually did choose when we release some new designs next month!

There are not many mornings on the stretch of beach near Moeraki that you can't find a bunch of photographers lining up to take photos of the sunrise over the strange dinosaur egg boulders that are found there. Even on this out of season October morning we were joined by another photographer who was calmly composing a shot of these strange formations. In contrast we were running around like headless chickens. Phil lost his phone and spent most of the sunrise running back to the car to try and find it, and I was running around being incredibly indecisive as to what set of boulders to shoot. Thankfully, by some sheer miracle, we both managed to get a good postcard shot! Here is the first by me (Ben). We will post Phil's sometime in the next week or two.

After a scouting mission of the beautiful Otago Peninsular the previous day, we knew there was a lot of potential from this spot and were hopeful of a good shoot the following morning. We had been battling with the weather since we'd arrived and it was our last chance to get something, so we were gutted when we woke to rain and cloudy skies. Fortunately the weather Gods were with us that morning, we had a brief spell of clear skies and headed for Oamaru much happier.

A rough sea at the well photographed St Clairs Beach in Dunedin made for two wet photographers and lots of entertainment for a few locals! These perfectly positioned posts line up perfectly with an island in the centre, in an aesthetic way that photographers dream off. Unfortunately when the waves were this high you can barely see it!

The view over Akaroa is a pretty amazing view whatever the weather. It was made even more amazing when the sky exploded with colour the morning we were there!

After a grey rainy day we were presented with an amazing sunset whilst photographing in Christchurch last week. Tasked with photographing the boat sheds I stuck my waders on, walked into the river and made the most of the dramatic backdrop and evening light.

Though with a sky like this I always end up being torn as to what I prefer. A slow shutter speed (picture B), where everything is nice and smooth and the boat shed really shines through or a filter-less faster shutter speed (picture A) where the amazing detail of the sky comes through, yet potentially competes too much with the subject of the picture.

What do you think? A or B?

Inspired by the art works of Charles Goldie of Maori dignitaries, we spent a few hours with Vic taking some portraits. This was our favourite from the shoot, as it portrays his cheeky character.
