One of the perks of my job, getting to "play" (photography) fire.
Love all the suspended droplets of water.

Here is my edit of +Liz Caldwell's image Mt Rubidoux.
Edit was done in Photoshop. Extracted and darkened the silhouette of the bridge, bushes and tower and overlaid it on a star trail image I took last year. I then used a photo filter to slightly change the color warmth of the star trails to match the original image of the tower. I finished up by fading the colours and adding a vintage 35mm border in Alien Skin.

Here is my edit of the image I posted earlier.
Initial editing in Aperture - Levels, Curves and burning of the hills in the background.
Second round of editing in Photoshop - Selective hue & saturation changes to bring out the sky. Copied the hill and the boats in the water onto a new layer and used motion blur on the sky, beach and ocean. Went through and carefully removed the blurred sections of the hill and boats as best as I could so that the copied layer remained sharp.
Third Round of Editing - Nik Color Efx Pro 3 for color contrast.
Final touches in Aperture - slight curves tweak after color contrast in Nik and the addition of vignette.

Ok guys and gals, here is my first submission for editing. Doesn't look like much but I'd love to see what everyone can get out of it. I will also post my own edit.
You can use the jpeg loaded here, or, if you really want to get into it, you can download the raw file here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/62725215/DSC_3353.NEF

Serang Sunset
I may be away from my family for the next week, but at least I had a lovely sunset this evening from my hotel balcony.

There is a restaurant in the local mall by the name of "Four Fingers Crispy Chicken". I'm really concerned about the ultimate fate of the fith finger. Are you sure those are chicken tenders?

Softly Blue
Well I haven't posted in a while. Work and the family have been kicking my ass of late, coupled with a bout food poisoning and flu. But hopefully I can find some hrs in the day to get back to working on my photography.
G'day all.
EDIT:
Will tag for #MacroMonday / +Macro Monday curated by +Kerry Murphy, +Jennifer Eden and +Kelli Seeger Kim since I shot it with my 150mm Sigma Macro.

"Mars"
My submission for week 14 of #2012project52 curated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This week's theme is "Night".
Mars has been extra bright lately, I wish there was less light pollution so I could get a better shot, but all things considering I am not too upset with this one.

Just throwing this out there, since I did so on the other network a few weeks back:
I am currently looking at new job opportunities. My experience is in Business Development, Marketing and Sales and I am willing to move Internationally, however I am somewhat keen on repatriating to Australia. If anyone knows of any interesting opportunities please let me know.
To any Googlers out there, I have already applied with you, please say yes :)

"Heart in Darkness"
My submission for week 13 of #2012project52 cruated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This week's theme is "Playing with light".
Managed to get this one pretty much SOOC. Just a minor levels adjustment.
10 second exposure with the blue LED backlight and about 1 second of red LED light from the front, the stones themselves are all pink which was really accentuated by the red light.

Orion's Belt
Off on a much needed break with the family. I went out this evening to take some shots of the interesting statues around the hotel and happened to look up to see something we don't see often around here, STARS!
So I sat down on the grass and had a relaxing time watching them and photographing them. Just wish I could have gotten the hotel to turn off all the grounds lights to help me out a bit!

"Choo Choo"
My submission for week 12 of #2012project52 curated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This week's theme is "Planes, Trains & Automobiles".
I apologise that I was unable to get out and get some rather crazy photos of the traffic or strange vehicles we have here but when I wasn't flat out busy it was raining and when it wasn't raining I was falt out busy. Instead I offer up this shot of the kiddie train which operates at one of the local malls that my daughter loves to ride.

"Waiting to Bloom"
My submission for week 11 of #2012project52 curated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This week's theme is "Autumn / Spring".
We don't have autumn or spring here in the tropics so the best I could do was a flower bud after the rain.

"Feeling a Bit Orange"
My submission for week 10 of #2012project52 curated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This weeks theme is "Depth of Field".
As some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted much lately. It has been a hell week at work and in general. I totally forgot about the project this week and ran out this evening in failing light to take this picture of a flower on my neighbor's fence. At ISO 3200 noise is still acceptable, man I love my camera. Hopefully I can get freed up a bit from work shortly so I can get active again.
Since its Monday I might as well as well throw this one out there for #macromonday curated by +Kerry Murphy, +Jennifer Eden and +Kelli Seeger Kim. This was shot with my Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro.

"Finger on the Button"
My submission for week 9 of #2012project52 curated by +Giuseppe Basile and +Kate Church. This weeks theme is "In The Workplace".
I had hoped to get a nice big fire shot for this week but alas it wasn't meant to be since class schedules and weather didn't play along. The shots I did get of our new Helideck / Helicopter fire just weren't near what I was hoping for as the fire wasn't very large.
So instead I took some shots of one of our other training programs: HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training). The gentleman in the foreground is Cecep, he is our crane operator and his finger is on the button that is about to cause the METS (Modular Egress Training Simulator) in the background to drop into the water and flip over thus simulating a helicopter crashing into the ocean. We conduct this training for offshore... more »

Hope this one is received ok, was interesting to try and do.

I'm doing a cross-country road guide of America's back roads. The plan is to photograph scenic locations and share the exact GPS coords for others to experience. I think it'll be a great way for others to discover all those great spots not normally found in the travel guides; and because it covers the 48 continental states, nearly everyone will be able to experience at least one of the locations in the book :)
