Dynamic Before-and-After: The Parliament [ bit.ly/142crge ]
Here is the next piece of this HDR feature: The Dynamic Before-and-After. To see it in action and to try it out yourself, go to the link above and use the slider on the image.
Details
This is the dynamic before-and-after comparison of The Parliament (HDR). On the website linked above, you can slide back and forth between two versions of the image: On the left side, you see the original 0 EV source photo straight out of the camera. The right side shows the final image that is based on a 6-shot exposures with shutter speeds between 0.6s and 15s. The image was processed in Photomatix Pro 4.2 and Photoshop CS6.

HDR Before and After: The Parliament [ bit.ly/10OgmOK ]
This is the Before-and-After for the HDR image The Parliament I posted on Wednesday.
At the top, you see the three original source images straight out of the camera. This image is based on a 6-shot exposure series with shutter speeds between 0.6s and 15s. At the lower left, you see the result of merging those shots into a 32-bit HDR and subsequent tone-mapping using the Details Enhancer option of Photomatix Pro 4.2. And finally, at the lower right, you see the final image after a number of post-processing steps executed in Photoshop CS6.

Vertical has just become awesome!!! Original image at [ bit.ly/fp-ltbl ]
Before the latest update to Google+, vertical images sucked on the web almost everywhere, except Pinterest.
But now, vertical has become awesome. Why? Because in the new stream, it means more screen space for your photos. So, you may have to re-think your reluctance against uploading photos in portrait orientation.
About the Image
This is a special version on one of my HDR Vertoramas. I never uploaded it anywhere because the format is just so web-unfriendly. To make it more presentable, I cropped it before I published it originally. But finally the time for really tall images has come! ;)

Forget about Adobe! Just use Google+!
Who needs Photoshop or Lightroom anymore??? Google's Auto Enhance feature will make your photos awesome with a single click... or so they say.
I have to admit that my head just exploded with all the new features introduced over the past few hours. Auto Enhance is just one of them.
Have you tried it? How does it work for you?

The Parliament (HDR) [ bit.ly/16eyYdJ ]
This is a 6-exposure HDR image of the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest, Hungary. Before I went on that trip, I did my usual Internet scouting on the entire city of Budapest, and sure enough, I came across a ton of images of this Parliament building. So, I was prepared! But when I arrived there and set up my tripod just across the river (Danube), something strange happened. [ Read more at bit.ly/16eyYdJ ]

Dramatic skies over Wiblingen Abbey. (Ulm, Germany)
(5-shot HDR: 3 original shots + 2 add-ons)
The entrance to the abbey is not a particularly dramatic scene (not from this angle view, anyway), and the original image was not working to my taste. As I haven't made a dramatic processing in a while, I tried that approach, and it started coming together. And that sky was just begging for such processing :)
My take on a scene that was originally shot by +Klaus Herrmann. Source images copyright by Klaus Herrmann - farbspiel-photo.com - all rights reserved. Go to farbspiel-photo.com/ppw for details.

I tend to handle announcements like the move to Creative Cloud by looking at all the pros and cons and then making up my mind on objective grounds. The video below may help you in building up your opinion a bit better... hopefully.

There will be no Creative Suite 7.
After nearly 10 years, Adobe abandons its Creative Suite entirely to focus on Creative Cloud
Adobe first launched Creative Suite 1 back in 2003, and now, ten years and six versions later, the company is taking a left turn: Adobe is abandoning its Creative Suite entirely to focus efforts on Creative Cloud.
Adobe is pointing all of its energy towards Creative Cloud, eliminating the familiar retail box in the process. Like last year, the company is releasing an updated suite of applications this June, newly branded as “CC” apps. This includes: Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Dreamweaver CC and Premiere Pro CC.
For creatives that rely on the company’s upgrade paths, some will be pleased to find that anyone with a CS 3 or later serial number will get their first Creative Cloud year for $29.99 per month. For everyo... more »

Tutorial: Manual HDR Bracketing Explained [ bit.ly/11YyKCB ]
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to make a HDR image but the Auto Exposure Bracketing of your camera just did not cut it? It did not cover the entire dynamic range of the scene and you ended up with blown-out highlights and blocked-up shadows anyway? This is when you need manual HDR bracketing. But what’s the right technique for bracketing manually?
In this tutorial, I am going to show you a simple technique for freeing yourself from the limitations of your camera’s AEB function by using Manual Exposure Bracketing (MEB). We will go through the camera setup and a simple procedure for shooting the images without having to do any math. With a bit of practice, you can even use this technique when you’re shooting hand-held HDR.
Check it out at [ bit.ly/11YyKCB ]
