curator Circle0As promised yesterday, here is the #CuratorCircleEdition  4Wisdom of this circle: Take time to view the profile of those you add if you care for the quality of the content shared on G+!Some of you that show interest to be included in the circle will not find themselves in. It is not an hazard; the minimum one can do while asking for inclusion in a shared circle is to include the sharer page or profile. Also due to the maximum space of 500 profiles, others have been kept for the next circle.Rules of the circle:1. Plus and share the circle (add me if you haven't done it yet)2. Comment to ask for inclusion. And enjoy your day.2014-05-06 13:53:46501361223CC G+
curator Circle0Content Curator Edition 2As I said yesterday, I am here to share my fun with people that share the passion with me.Today's Tip  Did you add people and you are wondering that no one has cared to add you back? here can be one of your issues: you did not have an attractively written profile. Make sure you add a nice picture of you, a well crafted intro and more importantly let others know your fields of interest. In this edition, I will like to thank: +notjustwebmarketing.com +not-just-web Marketing  +Vale mica  +David Oldenburg  +Blythe Ayne  +Sanchia Adolph +Anastas Georgiadis  +Ashima Dogra +Ben Capelo +Ronald Balbach +Danica Macanga Here are the rules for those that part of this circle:1. Plus the circle (and add me if you have done so yet)2. Comment to ask for inclusion if you are not in.3. I highly recommend you to add other fellows that are with you in the circle (if you want!)The next one is coming very very soon with more Tips2014-04-28 14:43:4837619414CC G+
curator Circle0Content Curator Edition 1If there is something that I have learned in life until now, it is to be patient and learn actively. I joined Google+ a while ago, and I sit around to learn, interact and ask questions to those that I think have been here for a long time. I think the first thing I have learned so far is that if you want to have followers, you have to #engage  with others and their   #shared   #contents In this first edition, I decided to promote some of the folks that I think were keen to teach me on a daily basis and that love helping. In between, who will say the contrary: being part of a circle always brings followers.Rules are only 2:1. Plus this circle (and add me if you haven't done so yet).2. Comment if you want to be included.I will be sharing the next edition very soon and the circle will be a lot bigger.2014-04-27 21:59:3621015513CC G+

They are all active users of G+ and post Publicly about their STEM discipline regularly (i.e. at least once a week).• Import these people into a brand new circle, and then move people over into your permanent circles if you like what they post.• Reshare this post, to get the STEM goodness out to as many as people as possible :)• If we have missed someone that should be included in this circle in time for our next update, please nominate them at http://goo.gl/rvKEf. We will be actively curating this circle once a month or so, removing inactive users, adding new active users, so consider this a work in progress :)• Please also make sure that the nominee has added the STEM Women on G+ Brand Page to their circles (we cannot include the nominee in this shared circle unless she does that).--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This circle is curated by +Buddhini Samarasinghe, +Rajini Rao, +Christine Paluch, +Liz ℚuilty and +Liz Krane. Peter G McDermott27,571The Circle of CreationThe goal with this circle was to spread the knowledge, creativity and incredible creations of everyone in it. I reached out to my followers and asked for their help in searching for the new creators. The people that joined this network with no prior following. People that weren’t known celebrities, people that didn’t have thousands of followers on Twitter, and people that would have been undiscovered without this network. The results were simply amazing. The Story Behind the CircleOf course, my intentions of this project were deeper than you may have guessed. The reason I want to share with you a circle of creative people is because of the threat that exists by the United States’ and other nations’ governments. Currently the “Stop Online Piracy Act” and “Protect IP Act” are both bouncing around in congress. There have been reports that one may have died, but regardless of those reports, this type of legislation might resurface under any name.Understanding the rights and provisions of copyright is a very important thing. Understanding your rights as a commentator, an artist, or a content creator is critical. However, having our rights to fair use completely threatened and thereby extinguishing our right to free speech, is completely unacceptable. Legislators are leaning towards their lobbyists who tell them how this type of legislation with help protect jobs and keep our economic engine running. You and I know that is not true. You and I know that it is the individuals, the entrepreneurs, the independent artists, the garage bands, the corner stores and the family businesses that keep this world spinning, and not just in America. Don’t let any government get in the way of our freedom to share with each other. Understand and uphold your rights for fair use and never ever let someone tell you that you don’t have a voice. With that said, here are a list of people that would not have otherwise been found. They would have been left undiscovered, under appreciated and widely unknown if it were not for our freedoms to communicate and share each others’ talents. In this circle are people that build things, people that create things, people that draw things, people that ask questions, people that think outside of the box. This circle is home to people that did not have a following until their time here on this one singular network. Every person in this circle has the potential to be a success story and to have their talents shared with the world. Do not, under any circumstance, let anyone ever alienate that right.CC: +Sarah Hill +Natalie Villalobos +Louis Gray +Vic Gundotra +Bruce Garber +matthew rappaport +2012-01-19 05:22:04394012CC G+

Meet Medical Rover at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Ashim Sitoula  will be showing us his work on a python app controlled wireless robot named Medical Rover. This robot has an interesting story surrounding it:

_An ailing patient can get proper treatment and relief if timely diagnosis can be done. In the crowded and improperly managed hospitals of Nepal, this is more of an issue. Poor communication and untimely distribution of medicines is a major pitfall. _

_With the aim of assisting the patients and providing medicines on time, I have come up with a project entitled "Medical Rover". Using the simple principle of line following, a robot can be programmed to follow a specific route to a specific patient's room. _

Ashim has also added PID control to the line following, check out this video (it has cool music too) to see it in action! PID based Line... more »

Meet Rob Otto an InMoov robot at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Dwayne Williams will be showing his work on an InMoov robot- named Rob Otto! His InMoov looks really far along, it has the head, torso, and both arms working. Sweet! Also when the robot is in the car, he can use the car pool lane.

InMoov is the first life size humanoid robot you can 3D print and animate. You have a 3D printer, some building skills, This project is for you!!

Designed by _ +gael langevin _  it’s concept, based on sharing and community, gives him the honor to be reproduced for countless projects through out the world.

It will sure be cool to see Rob Otto on the Robot Party! Make sure you’re there!

Rob Otto, an InMoov robot, was at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Dwayne Williams  makes large format printers, and has also made an InMoov robot! InMoov is a popular 3D printed humanoid robot. All open source, so anyone can make it and modify it.

He used brass coloured PLA for the prints. There are 25 servos, and 2 Arduino Megas. Total cost of the robot was around $500. A few years ago it would have been much more!

Rob Otto can run some little animations. Dwayne uses MyRobotLab to program it. Younger kids are quite inspired by the robot.

He really enjoys the adventure of InMoov. To get started, Dwayne recommends checking out the finger starter kit.

Check it out in action on the Robot Party!

A Robot Party in the SKY!

+Atom Machinerule  blasted us all to the skies by broadcasting LIVE from a UAV. He was using a DJI Phantom, which he plans on hacking more since it is closed source.

He’s planning on using a Leap Motion to control the UAV, and showed us a Processing Sketch of the tracked fingers being displayed.

This was absolutely fantastic to see. The Robot Party was outside and FLYING! How cool is that?!?! Thanks for the adventure, Atom!!!

Augmented Reality Robot Test Prototype was at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Stephen Bull showed us a few of his cool robot ideas. One of them uses a phone that can mirror its movements onto a robot. This way, if you are wearing the phone (or it’s Google Glass), when you look around the robot would follow.

Eventually there will be an augmented reality viewer app, that could display what is being seen by the robot (when it has a camera mounted on it). You have to see the demo to see the idea in action!

He also showed one of his quadruped robots that can move its legs in either direction, making it maneuverable through short spaces. The quad has 4 degrees of freedom per leg.

Check it out on the Robot Party!

Veterobot was at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Andrey Nechypurenko showed off his crazy robot vehicle for research. Built off of an existing robot chassis base, there are 3D printed pieces added to it (sleek designs, too).

Some of the gear it has: Ultrasonic sensor, two cameras, Wifi, more sonar sensors, GPS, 4G, and a GUI dashboard. Eventually an asus camera will be added to it (like the kinect) to get point cloud data too.

One of the nice details on this robot is the piece that the cameras are mounted on can move- so you can pan left and right without having to drive the wheels. Very useful.

If you’re interested in autonomous navigation, +Andrey Nechypurenko recommends starting to learn with the particle filter. And the Veterobot will be a good way to explore further.

Way cool- next time we will hopefully see it drive around!

The Medical Device Rover was at the ROBOT PARTY!

Zooming in and controlled by a Python GUI was +Ashim Sitoula's medical device rover robot. Don’t let the wires fool you about the cool larger idea about this robot. 8)

It can communicate wirelessly to the computer to receive commands, up to 25m or so.

By following a line, it can go to patients rooms. From room to room it would transport medicine and information.

Future designs may update the robot to use a track on the wall. This would reduce the chance of humans accidentally walking on the robot if they do not see it on the floor.

It’s a really cool robot idea to learn with. We can’t wait to see how it advances!

Jinn and Kitty were at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Roger Seeberger showed their robots to us! One was a crazy tall 3D printed humanoid robot, named Jinn. Right now Jinn is using just standard servos. Hopefully next time we can see it walk live.

Kitty is a little robot that can walk around. It responds to voice commands!

Both robots use a smartphone (connected via usb host to the controller board) as a brain for the robots.

They mentioned that they will have kits available, hopefully near September!

HelloSpoon was at the ROBOT PARTY!

+Luis G III. demonstrated his robot to us. Not only can it move its arm (elephant trunk), but it can also sing. He says that communication with the user is important.

He has been working on HelloSpoon for 1.5 years. It’s an interesting robot with a great goal of helping people eat!

Check it out on the Robot Party!

PID based Line... more »

Robot Party Next Saturday!

Looks like Saturday works well for many people for a Robot Party. Now we have to figure out a time :)

-

Would this time work? Suggested by +robert waters

12PM EDT UTC-4 • 4PM UTC • 6PM CEST UTC+2

-

Though it makes it a little early / late for Australia (+Jaidyn Edwards  ?)

Handy time zone website:
--> http://everytimezone.com/

Leave times that work well for your area in the comments, let’s see if we can figure something out.

Buttons

A special service of CircleCount.com is the following button.

The button shows the number of followers you have directly in a small button. You can add this button to your website, like the +1-Button of Google or the Like-Button of Facebook.

You can add this button directly in your website. For more information about the CircleCount Buttons and the description how to add them to another page click here.
