I have to say that this entire discussion from the right on religious freedom when it comes to public employees performing their jobs comes across as such nonsense. If I'm a Hindu, am I entitled to not give out permits for slaughterhouses? And if i'm Jewish Orthodox, can I refuse to give a women a driver's license if she is dressed "immodestly"? But stop trying to hide behind religious freedom just because you want to be a bigot and not be called to account and suffer the consequences of that bigotry.

Incredible first half. 4-1 over Japan. #uswnt  has to keep up the attacks and be aggressive in 2nd half so as to not let Japan back in.

This is all just bigotry masquerading as "religious freedom". In no case is the employee being asked to personally participate or personally sanction the actions in question. They are not the one marrying someone of the same gender. All they are charged with doing is fairly administering a public function. If they can't handle that, then quit. But stop trying to hide behind religious freedom just because you want to be a bigot and not be called to account and suffer the consequences of that bigotry.

Is it scalable for long term food production say off the coast of african desert?
“The hope,” writes Gebelhoff, “is that the company’s success so far may lay the foundation for a new form of crop production that can be done without harming the environment.”

This is fascinating. Even if fails, Gamberini’s project will probably provide a trove of useful data on how to rear crops in a harsh, barren, or otherwise unconventional agricultural environment, be it the ocean floor, or another planet.
