Vago Damitio8,775Last Circle to share for now... SEO and G+ Marketing plus one or two others...Creative Circle 1 of 11I am so impressed and enthused looking at the MicroVictoryArmy Stream  that I'm going to do something radical. I"m going to share my other circles, invite the members to join MVA, and then I'm going to delete all those circles so I can give more attention here.  I will keep  one circle of people like the +Dalai Lama  and +Richard Branson  who I would love to have join MVA but I don't want to lose track of if they don't. And that's it.  The Micro Victory Army is Victorious in my Circles and if you join - so are you. https://plus.google.com/communities/100245247140773385767  #microvictory  for figuring out how to enjoy G+ and manage my circles better! I'm about to delete you (unless you are in MVA - it's not personal - I still love you)2013-01-13 00:24:38136011CC G+

Check out the new ways to promote your app through ads in Google Search and YouTube. These ads can help you acquire more users and increase engagement in your apps.

Use Search and YouTube to Promote Your App
Earlier this year, we announced our next generation of app promotion ads across Google Search, the Google Display Network and YouTube [[http://goo.gl/fyjZUi]. The features on the Display Network launched in June as part of Google I/O [http://goo.gl/1DQgKa]. Today, I’m excited to announce the global availability of the search ads and YouTube offerings.

There are over 100 billion searches per month on Google.com. People search here for places to visit, movies to watch or music to listen to. Sometimes this content lives on a website, sometimes it’s in an app. Now with just 3 easy steps, you can get your app into an ad by using a new, simplified campaign set-up flow that promotes your app on Google.com. Search ads created with this new flow are only shown to people who don’t already have your app, so every click is from a potential new user, saving you time and money. Click here to get started: http://goo.gl/cJ2jsJ

Once you have a large base of users who’ve installed your app, how do you keep them engaged? Starting today, you can deep link [http://goo.gl/Ol89DA] users directly from Google Search into specific pages of apps they’ve already installed by signing up for the beta here: http://goo.gl/hQvwKW.  Customers like LINE, Zoopla and Booking.com are already testing deep-linking with their apps.

The power of sight, sound and motion makes YouTube users more than 2X more likely to download apps*. Now, you can showcase your app when people are watching their favorite videos using a new enhancement to TrueView ads.  With TrueView, advertisers can reach potential customers based on their interests,
previously-watched videos and demographics. Start promoting your app on YouTube by simply linking your app’s ID to your TrueView campaigns. Learn more: http://goo.gl/jQJt9R

Today’s #AndroidDev #ProTip from +Bruno Oliveira is about designing with placeholder text

The ability to properly preview your layouts in your IDE is very important for a fast development cycle. But what happens when you are designing layouts that will show live data? If you leave the text empty in the editor, you won't have a good sense of what the layout will look like when it's displaying actual data. If you put placeholder text directly in the layout, you risk exposing the placeholder text to the end user. Even if you are setting the text at runtime, the user may end up seeing the placeholder text while the real data is loading. Nothing against Lorem Ipsum, but the experience is terrible.

The solution? If you are using Android Studio and Gradle, simply add these two XML resource files to your project:

The solution? If you are using Android Studio and Gradle, simply add these two XML resource files to your project:

• src/debug/res/values/placeholders.xml
• src/release/res/values/placeholders.xml

On the first one (the debug one), declare your placeholder strings:

<resources>
    <string name="placeholder_text">Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet</string>
</resources>

And on the second one (the release one), define the same string resources, but make them empty strings:

<resources>
    <string name="placeholder_text"></string>
</resources>

Now, you can safely use @string/placeholder_text(and other placeholders you define) in your layouts, and they will correctly render in preview mode in the editor, with the assurance that when you make a release build, the placeholder strings will be replaced by empty strings automatically!___

At Google I/O, we introduced some new features to give you insight into how your app is performing and scale your app publishing. Today we're announcing that the Google Play Developer Publishing API is now available to all developers.

The Publishing API lets you upload APKs to Beta testing, Staged rollout and Production, and integrate publishing operations with your release processes and toolchain. The Publishing API also makes it easier for you to manage your in-app products catalog, provide tablet-specific screenshots, and localize your store listing text and graphics.

You’ll also want to try these other tools for gaining insight into your apps:

Alerts in the Developer Console to let you know when there are sudden changes in important stats like app installs, ratings, and crashes. You can now turn on email notifications for Alerts.

This episode of UXD is all about quantitative measurement & metrics.

The show discusses what a good metric is, which is measurable, actionable, understandable. Good metrics allow us to change our behavior, in order to create better products that people will actually use. It also talks about bad metrics, vanity metrics, and collecting the right metrics, or KPIs.

Out guest on the show is +Laura Klein author of UX for Lean Startups.

We have a workaround to enable paid apps that support Android Wear on the Play Store. In this blog post, we describe the necessary steps to get this working, and information about the problem. If your app is free then no steps are necessary and they will continue to work. We're working to make this easier for you in the future, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Apps for Android Wear launching today!
A collection of apps for Android Wear is now available on Google Play (goo.gl/LHjWNr)

In addition to notifications bridged from the phone, Android Wear allows developers to write code that runs directly on the wearable. Nearly all the APIs Android developers are already familiar with are accessible on the wearable allowing fully customized UI, reading sensors directly, integrating with voice actions, and sharing data between the phone or tablet and the wearable.

We've worked with some friends to create some great early Android Wear integrations.  Please take a look through this photo album for more inspiration and start extending your app for Android Wear today!

Some more details on the new #materialdesign  approach.

This is material design.

When we started building for the first mobile devices, mobile meant less: less screen space, slower connection, fewer features. A mobile experience was often a lesser experience. But mobile devices have evolved—they have become more powerful, faster, and more intuitive—so must our approach to design.

And as Google, including the Android platform, expands into new form factors, we’re introducing one consistent design that spans devices across mobile, desktop, and beyond. Today at #io14 , we introduced material design, which uses tactile surfaces, bold graphic design, and fluid motion to create beautiful, intuitive experiences…___Some more details on the new #materialdesign  approach.

Android Auto brings Google Maps, Play Music and more to your car in a safer and more seamless way.

When we’re in the car, we spend a lot of time fidgeting with our phones--getting directions, traffic updates, finding just the right playlist for, say, a summer night, with the windows down. It’s inconvenient, and, frankly, unsafe.

Android Auto takes care of that for you, quickly and easily. Starting this fall, the first car makers will be offering Android Auto, with many more to come. Just connect your Android phone to the car and you'll have turn-by-turn navigation from Google Maps, playlists and radio stations through Google Play Music, simple-to-use voice search, reminders and more, seamlessly integrated with the screen on your dashboard. Access it all from your car’s controls so you can keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. You’ll start to see Android Auto in cars later this year.___Android Auto brings Google Maps, Play Music and more to your car in a safer and more seamless way.

Android Wear lets you stay engaged with the people around you by quickly showing you relevant information at the right time, at a glance.

Today, we gave people a glimpse of what Android Wear can do. Android Wear, our platform for wearables based on Android, makes it easy for developers to reach users on this new form factor using precisely the same tools you're already familiar with on Android phones and tablets.

Android Wear is designed to let you stay engaged with the people around you by quickly showing you relevant information at just the right time, at a glance, without having to dig out your phone. You can also say "Ok Google" to ask questions and get stuff done.___Android Wear lets you stay engaged with the people around you by quickly showing you relevant information at the right time, at a glance.
