martin shervington1,144,921*Are you batty for Bond, get mesmerised by 'M' or simply revel in the quintessential Englishness of Q?* Well, the 5th of October 2012 is the day you won't want to miss! To celebrate the anniversary of James Bond how about we post some iconic images, some favourite quotes and maybe even have a themed hangout or two. We could go for favourite gadgets in one, most thrilling chases in another and maybe even have one dedicated to celebration of Pussy Galore?! Honour Blackman would be delighted. Much of the recent "self-driving cars get in accidents" coverage felt off to me. This piece does a good job of explaining why. I've ridden in a self-driving car and I pass them all the time in my own car. I can't wait for them. I've seen way too many bad drivers, so I'm looking forward to the better safety and technology that will come with self-driving cars.

So, I recently also upgraded the SSD of my Asus Chromebox to 256 gig...
For that I ordered a transcend m.2 ssd (seen in the pictures) from Amazon. After that, you use a regular ChromeOS recovery USB stick to reinstall ChromeOS... and that gives you a ton of local storage. (for whatever you might need it...)

Ahhhh some people are so great... Making themselves feel better by telling others who feel bad: "Hey, there are people out there, that are way sicker/way worse than you!"
Morally superior people like that are just plain disgusting. And this is not about "Uhhhh I broke my iPhone, I am gonna kill myself" first world problems, but real medical issues.
That's like feeling great for telling someone who is going blind that he/she shouldn't complain because there are others who have cancer. Disgusting.

:D get some awesome Art from Mara and help her out! :]

Mara's art for sale

So. I have an appointment for a so-called ENS (Empty - Nose Syndrome) specialist somewhere in Germany at the beginning of Semptember, and it's gonna cost me 650ish euros (for medical exams) + Idontknowhowmuch for trip&hotel. Probably around 1000 euros.

I don't have that much handy at the moment (I have so many damn medical expenses...), and I was doubtful whether to  go or not. I talked with +Di Cleverly and she suggested me to make some drawings of Gplus users and sell them.
So... I thought: It's been awhile since I did some art, and it would probably do me good (it would help me not being obsessed with my nose issues all the time).
What if someone wants to buy some art from me and donate for my exams? Would anyone want to buy a chibi portrait of themselves for their profile pictures?

The formula could be something like this:

- €20 for a quick pen sketch (I can send you the original drawing, if you want - if you pay S&H);
- €50 for a more detailed black/white drawing (same as before);
- €100 for a pencil/marker drawing (original sent if you want...blah blah blah)

You can pay directly on my Paypal account: phiria@fastwebnet.it specifying what kind of drawing you'd like, and linking your g+ page (and pictures).
Thank you very much for everything :)

These are my art albums, if you want to take a look:

"Yesterday, there was a wall of Tesla patents in the lobby of our Palo Alto headquarters. That is no longer the case. They have been removed, in the spirit of the open source movement, for the advancement of electric vehicle technology.

Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport. If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal. Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.

When I started out with my first company, Zip2, I thought patents were a good thing and worked hard to obtain them. And maybe they were good long ago, but too often these days they serve merely to stifle progress, entrench the positions of giant corporations and enrich those in the legal profession, rather than the actual inventors. After Zip2, when I realized that receiving a patent really just meant that you bought a lottery ticket to a lawsuit, I avoided them whenever possible.

At Tesla, however, we felt compelled to create patents out of concern that the big car companies would copy our technology and then use their massive manufacturing, sales and marketing power to overwhelm Tesla. We couldn’t have been more wrong. The unfortunate reality is the opposite: electric car programs (or programs for any vehicle that doesn’t burn hydrocarbons) at the major manufacturers are small to non-existent, constituting an average of far less than 1% of their total vehicle sales.

At best, the large automakers are producing electric cars with limited range in limited volume. Some produce no zero emission cars at all.

Given that annual new vehicle production is approaching 100 million per year and the global fleet is approximately 2 billion cars, it is impossible for Tesla to build electric cars fast enough to address the carbon crisis. By the same token, it means the market is enormous. Our true competition is not the small trickle of non-Tesla electric cars being produced, but rather the enormous flood of gasoline cars pouring out of the world’s factories every day.

We believe that Tesla, other companies making electric cars, and the world would all benefit from a common, rapidly-evolving technology platform.

Technology leadership is not defined by patents, which history has repeatedly shown to be small protection indeed against a determined competitor, but rather by the ability of a company to attract and motivate the world’s most talented engineers. We believe that applying the open source philosophy to our patents will strengthen rather than diminish Tesla’s position in this regard."___
