Mykal Hall358,887+Jay Patel and +Varina Patel are here in Australia for a workshop in Port Stephens hosted by +Brent Mail on the 3-5 Jan 2014. I have twisted their arms to do a photowalk here in +Sydney on the 11 January 2014.  So lets show our guest the welcome the Sydney Photo Community has to offer. We will meet on the steps in front of the Sydney Opera House at 6.30pm and slowly make our way to Hickson Rd Reserve for sunset and then to the end point at Observatory Hill by 9pm. I have plotted a few photo opportunity locations along the route as well as public toilets that I know of.https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zw_eAURDDMag.kLJfMBZmQ50o There are plenty of food outlets to grab a quick bite to eat at Circular Quay for the journey. I have walked the route in 1hr 40mins at a leisurely pace but you may want to stay at one location longer if you desire. That will be fine as long as we all get together at the start to greet Jay and Varina and then at the end point to say our goodbyes. Then afterwards if you still feel in the mood to chat over a drink we will be heading to The Hero of Waterloo (if there is only a small group) or the Harbour View Hotel (if there are more than the Hero can fit).I recommend catching public transport to Circular Quay or Town Hall but if you drive in there are a few parking stations within a short walk to the Opera House. I suggest downloading the "Cheap Parking App" from the Google playstore or iTunes. This will give you pricing options from closest or cheapest and links to get to them.I hope everyone has a great time during the walk socialising and remember you can approach Jay, Varina and myself at anytime to ask any questions. Please share this with anyone you may know who would want to join us. :))) Looking forward to see you all and don't forget the hash tag #PatelSydneyPhotowalk+Jay and Varina Patel Sydney Photowalk2014-01-11 18:30:00142G+

Artists In The Plus1,716,341+Artists In The Plus and the world famous Village Studios in Los Angeles, CA bring you "Making Music In The Digital World featuring Grammy award winning producer +Val Garay  and singer/songwriter +Nikki Lang.Check out Village Studios at: http://villagestudios.com/This is an On Air event broadcasting LIVE on Youtube and here on the event page.Val Garay:Val Garay has produced and engineered records for Linda Ronstadt, Kim Carnes, the Motels, James Taylor, Dolly Parton…and more.  Starting out as a songwriter and performer, Garay soon gravitated toward working behind the scenes with artists as diverse as the Mamas and the Papas, The Buffalo Springfield to Seals & Crofts. It was at the legendary Sound Factory Studio in Hollywood that he became acquainted with the studio’s owner/operator, Dave Hassinger. Hassinger had established a reputation as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s premier engineers, having helmed many of the legendary Rolling Stones sessions, as well as early Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane albums. It was Hassinger who realized that Garay had a “great pair of ears,” and offered to teach him the finer points of the craft. Working with Hassinger for a year, Garay refined his technique and perfected the punchy bottom sound, guitar blend and mixing approach that distinguishes his work today.Garay truly made his mark early on, working with such artists as Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, The Four Seasons, Orleans, Donald Byrd and The Blackbyrds, Andrew Gold, JD Souther and Bonnie Raitt. It was in this key role that Garay helped to create and define what is still being referred to as the “L.A. Sound.” With the release and success of Ronstadt’s Heart Like A Wheel, Garay suddenly became one of the most sought after engineers in the business, known for creating never-before-heard sounds. Read more about Val Garay here: http://www.valgaray.com/vals-story/Nikki Lang:Starting her musical career as a singer/songwriter at the age of 12, by 15 Nikki Lang had appeared in clubs throughout Los Angeles as both a solo artist and with her band. Today, she has toured nationally and internationally, and has been featured on radio, television, and in major newspapers and magazines such as USA Today, Teen, and L.A. Daily News. Inspired by the authenticity of singer/songwriters Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette and Lily Allen. Nikki writes songs of self-discovery and empowerment that read like a handbook for young women coming of age.More about Nikki Lang at: http://www.nikkilang.com This event is sponsored by Westlake Pro for all your music needs, Village Studios - where Val Garay & Nikki Lang - "Making Music in the Digital World"2013-06-28 01:00:0066G+

Google Australia142,737"Who says you can’t have a collection of dangerous and sexy songs with great words?"From this basic premise, Alexander Gow and his +Oh Mercy   bandmates have crafted Deep Heat, the band’s third and most colourful album to date; a collection of 10 propulsive songs with a groove as deep as the Mariana Trench. After last year’s acoustic-based confessional Great Barrier Grief, Gow decided to shift the goal posts a little – well, a lot actually – decamping to Portland, Oregon, for two months and turning a bunch of songs he’d written on piano in the “traditional singer-songwriter fashion” into something else entirely. We're very excited to welcome +Oh Mercy   to Unplugged and Wired.Don't forget you have to put in a circle +Google Australia  to be invited to join the Hangout on Air.Unplugged and Wired with Oh Mercy2012-11-28 03:30:0029G+

Gorka Ortiz48,655I'd like to invite you all to this brand new Photography Contest. The rules are simple, you are kindly suggested to upload up to 3 pictures of your own. The pictures must show yourself in a reflection. No matter whether your reflection is shown through a mirror, a window, some water on the road or any surface that can reflect yourself. There is no need to be recognized in your picture, you can reflect any part of your body. Try to find funny surfaces or elements where you can be reflected and just have fun taking part! ;-)Who will be the winners? Ok, trying to be fair no matter how many followers, plusses or shares you have and also taking into account your kind suggestions,  I have decided to invite 2 or 3 photographers from my circles who I think they produce quality pictures to help me judge the best works. The contest will end the 4th of November this year 2012.I will create a circle of winners with the 10 best photographers in this contest and I will share it in my stream. (Sorry, I know is not much but is better than nothing I guess and there's nothing else I can offer! ;-)  ). Of course I am opened to any suggestion from you all to make the contest as fair as possible. ;-)Finally, the most important thing... have fun and enjoy taking your pictures and sharing them with us! ;-) Cheers!Photography Contest - My Reflection - By Gorka Ortiz.2012-10-04 19:00:00138G+

Scott Jarvie376,747UPDATE: it's online now: http://youtu.be/-DItFCAg4jM We like to call this a "PLUS ONE PARTY"Because people submit links to their albums and we look through the pictures and we plus one the pictures we like in the album. It's my way of giving quick feedback to people about which pictures really catch my attention out of their images. It's quick and yet helpful.Last time we looked at over 120 albumsLIVE PUBLIC HANGOUTYep it'll be a live public hangout again.Shorter and more awesome than last time.So if you LINK us an album make sure you know they will be on video and then on youtube. We're both really nice people and with people pictures we worry about commentary for fear they're related to you or something. But we may make commentary and you gotta be alright with that as well. The video won't be edited when it goes onto youtube.I'm basically saying: The easily offended need not applyTHEME = PEOPLE PICTURES+Susan Marinello and myself have a separate project going on where we're spending dozens of hours researching to find great photographers and create the most awesome list of "people shooters"https://plus.google.com/u/0/100962871525684315897/posts/UMBDiPKJqKaSo therefore we've made the theme this time to People pictures as well because that's what mood we're in.If you already have an album like that share it. Or maybe put together another one in the next 24hrs that you'd like us to go through. Professional work, weddings, families, kids, selfies, street candids, models etcJOIN INThis time we'll be linking the albums and having people join us as we go through the pictures... so you may be getting a lot more plus ones (eyeballs) than normal.FAQWe won't be looking at non-people pictures even if they're in the album. We'd rather not look at crazy large albums so try to keep them under 50 (but we can be a bit lenient)Please submit open/public albums specially since other people than myself will be wanting to view.Make sure you're following myself (+Scott Jarvie ) and +Susan MarinelloAlbum Viewing Party - People Themed (A Jarvie Production)2012-09-24 05:00:0079G+
Scott Jarvie376,747POST YOUR GOOGLE+ ALBUM OF PICTURESIt's been very very popular event in the past and I'm finally doing it again tonight. This time it will be more organized, more heads up than usual and even a live event.SHARE AN ALBUM/GALLERY LINKIt's simple and easy but a lot of work and very fun for all.You simply share an album here and I'll be going through every single one of the albums. Then I will +1 the pictures in the album that I'm really drawn to.BENEFITWell it's simply if you'd love to know which pictures I like most. I always loved knowing which pictures people really love of mine because it helps me have an eye for which pictures are best received. It's a huge part of becoming a better photographer in my opinion. To be able to put out great art is first to know what great art looks likeON AIRThis will be something new... I'm going to go through all the albums Live, Online as an On-Air hangout.I'll talk a little bit about what I'm doing. If the show goes well I'll keep it for later viewing on YouTube... if the recording isn't great I won't.SPECIAL GUESTBecause I want to have an outloud conversation about what and why I'm doing things I will have my good friend and great photographer +Susan Marinello on the show to facilitate the discussion. She will also visit a lot of these albums and +1 pictures as well.We ask that everyone add her to a circle ... not just because she's awesome (though that's reason enough) but so that if any of these albums are by mistake limited access she will have access.DIRECTIONS1. Paste a link of a Google+ image gallery2. Put a title or description of what we'll see in the album3.  IMPORTANT If you post a link you hereby give us permission to use a screenshare view of all those pictures and perhaps your profile in a recorded Youtube video.4. Make sure the album is Public access5. Add +Scott Jarvie  +Susan Marinello to your circles6. Return the favor. Take some of the other people's albums and +1 some of your favorites.IMPORTANTIt bears repeating:If you post a link you hereby give us permission to use a screenshare view of all those pictures and your profile (maybe) in a recorded Youtube video.DShare your Album- A Jarvie PlusOne Critique Experience2012-09-12 05:30:00148G+

Kelli Seeger Kim1,312,217It's +Karen Hutton 's birthday!  (okay, well - technically, it's September 7.  But +Kerry Murphy and I couldn't wait any longer!)Anyone familiar with Karen will attest to the fact that she is all about peoples' passions.  What drives them.  What's in their hearts.  What better gift to give to her, than to share with her images that we feel represent our passion/soul/heart!.  Images that truly represent who we feel we are now - or the journey we are on (or traveled), in search of personal growth.  Maybe you have an image of yours that represents a style of photography that you feel a deep connection with. Maybe you have an image that marked a moment in your life that was particularly incredible for you - that touched you in a way that is significant.  We can have a lot of fun with this theme - the most important thing is that it comes from our heart.  :-)So feel free to upload images to this event, and tag them:   #SharingOurLightWithKarenHutton  Sharing Our Light With Karen Hutton (Happy Birthday, Karen!)2012-09-07 13:00:0058G+

I learned that someone I’m very fond of that is in the second grade needs to bring a portable light to school!  They have no electricity so there are no fans either. Hard to ignore that and I don’t understand it but that tells us the need in the Philippines is still great. We can wait for the government to do it so we need to help as much as possible. These funds will not go to the government but to Habitat for Humanity who is building homes themselves. For some this will be a reminder. Please understand that A lot of people doing a little will have a huge impact. We are making ripples when we post on Google Plus, FaceBook, Twitter and other social media. Why not make those ripples mean something positive? When you make or share a post, those post spreads out across the Internet like tossing a rock into a pond. The Internet is an infinite pond, so our impact can also be as infinite as our zeal to support something worthwhile. What is a little? If only I could get more people to understand that $2.00 is enough if everyone participates we could easily build an entire home for a Filipino family as the cost is under $4500 to build an earthquake and super typhoon resistant home in the Philippines. A home much nicer than most Filipinos live in.If two dollars is all you can give than please give that. It’s enough! Some donated less than a dollar and that too is enough! Every drop expands the ripple.http://www.give2habitat.org/member/rustyf/haiyanHowever, I realize times can be hard. You may not have a dime tospare but you can still help. When you reshare this circle, others will see it.  Though you may not be able to contribute they may be able too. Or they may share it too. The ripple will grow.A week or so ago, I got an email from Habit for Humanity (HFH) requesting additional help for the victims of Typhoon Hiayan. Here is a portion of their email:♥★★★★★★★★★★★★Your commitment to help rebuild the lives of the families who were displaced by Super Typhoon Yolanda inspires me and my coworkers.  Because of you, Habitat has been able so far to repair 22,000 damaged homes and to start constructing the first 1,000 of the 30,000 houses it aims to construct for the Yolanda survivors.I'm writing to you right now -- exactly six months after the tragedy -- in behalf of the Yolanda survivors.  Most of the displaced families are still living in makeshift houses, tents, and evacuation centers. They are currently enduring a hot summer but soon it will be replaced by the country's often very wet season.  I urge you, therefore, to help us remind others about them.♥★★★★★★★★★★★★There was a PDF included that revealed this:♥★★★★★★★★★★★★It’s been six months since Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan), made its tragic landfall in the Philippines on November 8, 2014. Aside from the more than 8,000 Filipinos who died and are still missing, the typhoon affected…14 million FilipinosDestroyed or severely damaged more than a million homesWiped out or impaired millions of people’s livelihoods…And dreams. But there’s hope. You can support them by donating through >>>>> http://www.give2habitat.org/member/rustyf/haiyan(Additional options for donations b2014-06-02 12:07:07457161192152CC G+

They are split to not exceed 200 members.           These circles are photographers that I admire. They have "more photos, less spam."  There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).       Be sure to get all of the circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to May 1st for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting April 1st.)  You can also use the #handpickedcircles hash tag.I am hard up against the 5000 limit. Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:   https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday   #sharedcircles   #sharedcircle #sharedpubliccircles   #fullcircleshare #addmetoyourcircles #pixelworld   #pixelworldcircle #circleoftheday #bestsharedcircle   #thebestcirclesongoogle #thebestcircle             #handpickedcircles             Note: the hash tag #handpickedcircles  should only be used to refer to these circles and other circles created by +2014-05-24 10:51:501768210CC G+
Mario Rotta15,308This is a circle in which I included a lot of excellent photographers: but most of them start from pictures to create visual design effects. So, this circle may represent a list of people working on the edge between photography and art. I like that experimental edge :-)2014-05-22 06:00:41400016CC G+

For that reason, I have about 100 people in this circle that I would almost bet you will not share this circle. I also will not add everyone that shares my circle to my shared circles. I have a massive database of trolls and spammers. I am constantly updating that.  They are not here.  It includes about 4000 people. It is constantly updated.  Send people in my circles or communities invites and other spam and you’ll soon find yourself blocked. If they are not following you, I really dislike that.  If you’re doing it, I will know and you will soon be gone.I don’t need to be the number one most shared circle to the point that it means loading you up with a ton of people I wouldn’t follow. I won’t do it.This is a circle made up of mostly of those that are known to share circles. However there are also over 100 profiles with incredible content or promote worthy causes. She’s right, they will. So what you need to do is engage with the people you add. Leave comments on their post. When you do your name shows up and if you keep doing it you will get their attention and even those that delete will keep you in their circles more often. Those that don’t, probably are not worth your efforts. Also, for those post that you like or think your audience (followers and potential followers) will enjoy, share those post. When you share another person’s post you should plus tag the person that shared and it and the person that originally posted it. If you don’t do this, they will likely never know you shared it. If they do know they might come by and plus or comment on your share. How do you plus tag? Type the plus sign and then without a space start typing their name. This works best if you add them to your circles before you plus tag them. As you type their name, G+ will offer suggestions of people on G+. When it finds the person you just circled, click their name and you’re done. Now they should get a notification that you mentioned them in a post and they can go straight to your post and view your profile. Google wouldn’t be showing us the number of profile views if it wasn’t important. Matt Gibson920,723Ok so we are going to try something different here...As you may have noticed, I am sharing a circle of really cool people and pages for you to add to your circles.  If you want cool content from cool people - add the circle!  It's that simple!  If YOU would like your profile to be shared to almost 1 million people, leave me a comment that tells me a little bit about YOU.  What do you like?  What is your favorite music?  Where do you live?  Let's get to know each other!  What are your social network or website addresses (simply posting a link without telling me about YOU won't make the cut btw)? Here is an example:Hi!  My name is +Matt Gibson and I am an independent artist working on my 1st album!  I like all forms of music but I tend to lean towards metal.  I play guitar, piano, drums and saxophone as well as sing!  You can check out my website at www.crimsonsymphony.com and you can subscribe to my +YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/crimsonsymphonymusicI like books by great authors like Tolkien, +TERRY BROOKS  and Raymond Feist among others.  I read a lot of non-fiction as well on subjects like business, marketing, antiques and tech.I am an amateur gardener and I aspire to own my own beehives.I like reading your posts because you are such a handsome fellow with that long wavy hair and manly beard and....ahem ok you can skip that part unless you really mean it LOL.Now that's not hard is it?  Tell me about yourself and get your profile shared to a million people!  Not a bad deal eh?New and OLD friends can participate but no cheating or dumb comments like "add me" or "hi".  You should all thank +Amanda Blain for giving me this idea to steal for our benefit btw... so let the fun and networking begin!!PS If your comment is really cool you may find yourself in the next Cool People circle and who knows, maybe we will become friends or colleagues? 2013-10-03 00:47:03249721342CC G+

Dallas McMillan7,412Circle from the land downunder - Australia's top 200 PlussersWho are Australia's most followed people on Google Plus?I've put together this circle of Australia's top 200 profiles (by follower numbers - not engagement - some aren't particularly active) on Google Plus. It's pretty interesting to see the types of profiles which make the cut. Here is my quick overview:By far the most dominant characteristic of the top 200 are photographers - professional and amateur. The other notable individuals are a couple of cricketers in the top 10, a smattering of celebrity chefs, musicians, writers, artists, models and other celebrities. There are also fair numbers of Google employees, IT workers, social media and marketing types as well as a decent number of scientists and mathematicians. The only politician I noticed was Malcolm Turnbull - the Prime Minister and Leader of the opposition are conspicuous by their absence.I got the list from +CircleCount http://www.circlecount.com/au/profileslist/ and I've made a few tweaks - removing a couple of profiles that were inactive or had moved away from Australia. There were a number of others which probably don't belong as they now work in the USA or elsewhere.  #australia   #australianphotographers   #circleshare  I've notified members of the circle - let me know if you don't want to be listed.2013-08-04 14:24:522009213CC G+

paula contreras2,511The BestBeen on G+ for about a year now and have met some of the most amazing people.  Photographers, Story Tellers, and now some of them friends.Well I don't usually do this, in fact other than sharing a single person at a time, I have never shared a circle.  High time I did and just wanted especially those just starting out on G+ to have a glimpse of some of the best. The best you say, yes the best.My circle count consists mostly of photographers and I am pretty picky about who I circle, but there are a couple of people in this list who are just awesome and appreciate photography so much that you will definitely get shared a lot if nothing else.  These people are also the ones that interact on G+ the most, so if you want content in your stream, than here ya go.So take a look, take the whole circle or just peruse through and find your best peopleShow less2013-06-10 20:31:3220057319CC G+

Curiosity finally got the better of me!

While my philosophy and purpose for participating and posting here on +Google+ has always been (and will remain) the same, the platform (which I believe is still in it's infancy), continues to develop and expand.  Less than three yeas ago I'd never made a public post on the interwebs. Today, I have the most viewed G+ content in Australia.

I'd recently seen a few posts via +Mike Shaw, +Scott Jarvie & +Yonatan Zunger about the new "views" feature . So, I checked some stats - it's not something I've concerned myself with in the past. From what I can see the new feature is an improved indicator of engagement than the "followers" figure. But the TRUTH (at least from my perspective) remains > this place is what YOU make of it! Be authentic, share something original & reach out to people withgenuin... more »

Summer Sunrise~  Lake Trillium, Oregon

I'm having a wonderful week revisiting my birthplace here in Portland, Oregon. This weekend I met up with +Brian Matiash +Nicole S. Young & +Brian Bonham for brunch. There was zero arm twisting involved in my decision to opt in on the 3am wake up call for a drive up the mountain to shoot sunrise over the lake. When we arrived there was much surprise, laughter and delight in realising the person who'd beat us there by a few minutes & was already unpacking their gear was "the" +Scott Jarvie!  We decided to play ignorant & see how long it took stragglers  +Brian Bonham & +Brad Sloan to work out who the party crasher was ... so funny.

Lots of great photos from the day but we'll start with just this one :)

Have a great week!

Beyond Hope~

One of those moments when you just have to stop the car! This was the scene as we headed North beyond the tiny town of Hope located on the banks of Lake Pend Oreille. A summer storm was rushing in as the sun set in the West.

Not the best capture (everyone else was in the car waiting) but it gives you an idea of just how beautiful this area can be :)

Have a lovely week everyone!

Summer Storm~

One of life's simple pleasures is an evening storm that rolls in on the back of a hot day.  The temperature drops as the rain comes down in respite and  everything seems to feel re-energised by a spell of thunder & lighting.

Three days ago this was the view from a town called Hope.

Mt Adams~

“In wisdom gathered over time I have found that every experience is a form of exploration.”  ~Ansel Adams

On a clear day the flight from Portland to Spokane provides an amazing view of the super trine that is Mt. St Helens, Mt. Adams & Mt Rainier.
I have a few shots with all three in the frame ... for today here's a birds eye view of Adams.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Saint Mary's Angel of the Assumption~

High on Cathedral Hill in the city of San Francisco sits Saint Mary of the Assumption. During my short visit here I've been photographing the exterior of this church from various vantage points whenever spotting it along the skyline.  It's unique design makes it quite distinct. In truth, I've always been a little fascinated with the structure. In large part due to the fact that my grandfather's brother, William Schuppel, was one of the architects. His name, along with Pietro Belluschi  and celebrated Italian building engineer Pier Luigi Nervi is on the placard at the front entrance. Surprisingly, until today, I'd never actually been inside!

Entering the building gives one both a sense of grounded stability and transcending lightness. There's also a noticeable openness and connection to the surrounding city that isra... more »

San Meteo Bridge~

I arrived to a clear sunny day in San Francisco this morning. One of the most noticeable features from the window seat on decent was the lengthly San Mateo Bridge. It may not be much to look at aesthetically but certainly lent itself well to some grungy textured layers ;)

Happy #floralfriday Lovelies!

I started a #21daysworld Instagram challenge at the beginning of the week to reinvigorate my love of mobile photography & get me in the habit of posting over there. Day one's topic was "plant life" ... the rest of my insta efforts are posted @ http://instagram.com/xpressionistic

My daughter insisted I buy myself these beautiful potted Orchids as a belated Mother's Day gift a few weeks back. I'm glad I took her advice, they're beautiful. Love their true colours in real life but I also quite like the way they came up in #blackandwhite .

Wishing you a wonderful weekend~

With thanks to +Tamara Pruessner +Beth Akerman +Eustace James & +Kiki Nelson of +FloralFriday  for keeping the theme in bloom ;)

Virtual Visit :: Sydney, Australia

Came across this in my notifications today. Made me laugh. 95% of my images are from Sydney ... I live here! Most of you would have seen these photos already but for those of you interested in checking out the UNEDITED "story", here it is. All the images here were taken over the course of 2 days (even though it says 4)  w/ one of the locations "checked in", probably what prompted the "collection".

I think the feature will come in handy for my upcoming travels this July - August. Look forward learning more about it & sharing new stories  :)

The Ship Has Landed!

An impression from last night's walk along the Circular Quay during the final hours of   #vivid .

I brought my young daughter along to see the lights as we'd missed out on our annual family pilgrimage to the festival this year . Needless to say, she's not really into waiting around for settings, tripods & long exposures. Most of my frames contain a waving hand, extra blur from getting pushed along, and of course >  plenty of close up photo bombs! Still, good fun w/ pic's to prove it ;)

Thx again +Jason Ruth for taking the time to tell her about the interactive lights just around the bend while I captured a few frames. Great to catch up again  +Colby Brown, appreciate you understanding why I had to make it an early night. Would loved to have talked shop & walked the whole circuit ... look forward to seeing crisp, clear&... more »

One of the things that I have noticed in working with thousands of massage clients in the last 10 years is that the most painful suffering we endure isn't physical or even mental and emotional. It is spiritual. We all have a deep desire for meaning in our life. A quest for significance. Some proof that our existence is substantial in some way.

We run around looking for proof from the outside that this is true. We tell ourselves stories about "if I was just sexy", "If I was just rich", "If the world just saw things my way", "If I was just as smart as ____ then I could be special".   Essentially saying "I need the world to prove to me how important I am in order for me to feel good about myself".

Some even suffer so painfully from this internal thirst that seems unquenchable thatth... more »

View From My Window, Tonight's Sunset ~

"Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit..." ~H. Hoover

June 1st :: It's the first day of winter here in Australia. It's been an unseasonably warm prelude to the season but there was a definite chill in the air today. Along with the cold came a touch of rain. As the golden light poured into my study window this evening I knew there was an amazing rainbow on the other side of the house... and beautiful it was.

Wishing you all a wonderful week. May your spirit feel free - whatever the season ;)

Rainy Night in the The Domain ~

Last month when +Brian Matiash & +Lauren Bath  were visiting Sydney I joined a small group of locals for a Insta+ HIRL & some Google goss'. Having  parked a MILE away I took the opportunity to  muck around with the camera in the rain on my walk back to the car.

Sorry  I've been MIA ... moving house totally consumed the month.  But, I'm about to launch into a more productive phase with lots of photography, music & travel on the cards.  Look forward to sharing the adventure & catching up with some of you in person.

Hope you've all been well :)

Sundays at the Park :: Balmoral

“Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.”  ~Franz Kafka

Balmoral is one of my favourite beaches here in Sydney. It's a place where the waters are calm and the picturesque scenery presents itself in every direction. Fish & Chips aren't bad either ;)

Cheers to the timeless beauty we see through our eyes, even as they themselves grow old!

The Morning Veil ~

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." ~Melody Beattie

It's difficult to see unless you zoom in, but this bird is gathering branches for a nest. Been much the same for me this past week ;)
Still setting up house in the new digs ... dust hasn't settled yet, but  the picture's beginning to clear & I'm feeling immensely grateful for the positives of  change.

Wishing you all wonderful weekend~

Moving House~

A few of you know I've been searching for a new address - no easy task for Sydneysiders! After literally MONTHS of daily searching & countless disappointments we  now have a new lease! The removalists are booked & I'm pulling up stakes without a moment to spare as demolition/development commences the day we turn in the keys - this place will never be the same. Just as well I took a photo or two ;)

We'll bring with us many great memories of the 5 years we've lived here. And while I've loved the ornate ceilings, unique glass work, grassy yard & glimpses of the harbour, it's the changes & developments in our lives that will forevermore  hold meaning.

Transition time for internet dis/re-connect = 5 working days.  Back online in about a week's time.

Catch ya on the flip side! Gx

The Digger~

There stands a Digger's statue on either side of the Anzac bridge. Their heads forever solemnly bowed.  We speedily drive by & rarely notice.

This photo was captured during bushfire season last year when the smoke hung heavy in the Sydney skies.

Aussies love the extended weekend  Anzac Day brings ... let us remember, the holiday was hard won.

Below is an excerpt from: On Active Service by John Harold Falconer

"When I realised that I was wounded, and that I was alone, I slid off my equipment & threw away my rifle, and started to crawl on my stomach in the direction I thought we had come.  The sights I passed out there I shall never forget.  But still I had only one thought to get back to some shelter.  My arm was now useless and paining intensely and my head commenced to swim.  After crawling around out there, for asnear ... more »

Some frivolous fun I created for +Selfy Sunday!  At first glance this skirt appears to be a plain black maxi. And it is,  until you kick up your heels! There's something quite fabulous about knowing you have the potential to be utterly flamboyant at a moments notice ;)

Have a great week lovelies! I dare you to dance with abandon & show your true colours. Those who matter most will love you all the more for it.

A Path Through the Mangrove Forrest :: Australia

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." ~Henry David Thoreau

And sometimes we need to build that path plank by plank to prevent the murky regrowth from seeping in.

Cheers to thinking good thoughts! There's a beautiful open clearing only a hundred meters from this vantage point :)

The Trapezists Dream~

"  ... Faith, and Trust, and Pixie Dust.”  ~Peter Pan /J.M. Barrie

Life's a bit like this right now!  I'm on a bridge between two life chapters. Holding on & letting go. Self generating inertia and leaping from one perspective to the next. In non figurative form > my day job of past three years came to a close Saturday and I'm STILL searching for a place to live. Countdown to demolition on our current rental = 23 days! I'm really under the gun here but it always  seems to work out in the end. Usually at the 11th hour  ... are we there yet??? lol

On one hand it's exciting to see a new chapter opening up. On the on the other? Well,  it's faith, trust and a whopping dollop of elbow grease mixed in with that pixie dust!

While I'm still channeling creativity through Music & Art I've had verylittle ... more »

Be authentic, share something original & reach out to people withgenuin... more »

The Strange Thing :: Coral Beach :: Shutehaven :: Australia

Last year I made 2 separate  trips to Coral Beach. When I returned on the second trip I found it totally amusing the way this drift wood had changed & marched along the shoreline. In the top image the wood looked kind of like a sloth heading towards it's cave in the mangroves. Months later is appeared more like a newborn Giraffe trying to stand on it's feet for the first time.  It really is a curious bit of natural "Art in Progress".  If I ever make the trek  to Shute Harbour again I'll definitely make a point of checking in on this "Strange Thing". No doubt, by then I'll surely be looking a little more weathered too ;)

Standing at the Shore~

10 days ago I launched a little experiment. Now just over 1 hour remains on the clock for your chance to own a museum quality print of one of my images at a super bargain price! Check it out if you like > http://www.32auctions.com/World-First .

I set up the auction as a birthday gift to myself in a bid to raise travel funds for a family trip to the USA . My little brother's getting married :) The children are growing up so fast ... in the 17 years I've lived here I've made the trip back home 3 times. Although I'm very blessed with a beautiful life my day jobs have only ever afforded the basics. It's a classic tale of save up and break the piggy bank for that unexpected event rather than travel. Now that my children are a bit older I'm working on changing that. But, be warned: if you've ever considered moving here > Sydney... more »
