The soaring tower is 9.5 light-years or about 90 trillion kilometres high, about twice the distance from our Sun to the next nearest star.
Stars in the Eagle Nebula are born in clouds of cold hydrogen gas that reside in chaotic neighbourhoods, where energy from young stars sculpts fantasy-like landscapes in the gas. The tower may be a giant incubator for those newborn stars. A torrent of ultraviolet light from a band of massive, hot, young stars [off the top of the image] is eroding the pillar.

3D printable guns

Not too long ago the world's first 3D printable gun was designed, built, and released to the public for free. As quick as it was released the government demanded it's removal from defcad.org under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In accordance with the law Cody Wilson has since removed the digital files but not before the guns blueprints were downloaded over a 100,000 times. Hacker gone semi legit Kim Dotcom at one point was storing the files on Mega's offshore servers but only just recently he's had a change of heart and done the unexpected. He deleted the files.

New satellite sail is propelled by solar protons

A tiny new satellite is propelled by repulsion. ESTCube-1, which went into orbit recently, will put proton-powered electric solar sails to the test for the first time. It could pave the way for speedy trips through the solar system.  Regular solar sails have large, thin mirrors that reflect photons from the sun to push the spacecraft forward. The new electric sail, harnesses solar protons instead. Wires with a positive charge will extend from the craft and repel protons – also positively charged – to propel the tiny satellite.

Our solar system's miasma of incandescent plasma, the Sun may look a little scary here. The picture is a composite of 25 images recorded in extreme ultraviolet light by the orbiting Solar Dynamics Observatory between April 16, 2012 and April 15, 2013. The particular wavelength of light, 171 angstroms, shows emission from highly ionized iron atoms in the solar corona at a characteristic temperatures of about 600,000 kelvins (about 1 million degrees F). Girdling both sides of the equator during the approach to maximum in its 11-year solar cycle, the solar active regions are laced with bright loops and arcs along magnetic field lines. I've seen questions all over #GooglePlus  when it would be appropriate to use either +1, comments or shares. Do they have different values and are there rules for when to use which? Events Got Updated... Shows if people have Viewed an invite or not
Events Tips

This is a great new Update to the Google Plus Events tool... if someone has been invited to an Event, but has yet to respond, they are in the "Not Responded" category of guests (invitees)... Now we can see if they have had a chance to VIEW the invite or not!

Things can get pretty busy on Google Plus and knowing if someone had a chance to View the Invitation to an Event is helpful information for the organizer of that event.

I don't see it making any change to our Messaging Options (yet), but that would be a Wonderful Addition as well; if we had the choice to check a box for those that had or had not Viewed the invite but are still in the "Not Responded" grouping... what say you +Google+ Help?
