A heart-tugging story for this Father's Day weekend...
This morning I received notice of an order placed for the photo you see below. The order information doesn't reveal who the buyer is, but it does tell me their city. This one was purchased by a local buyer. I'm pretty sure I know who bought it. In fact, they brought three prints. Here's the story....
This photo was taken last August. I went to the Algoma, WI harbor to, hopefully, capture a sunrise. When I got there, conditions were foggy. There wasn't much to see, but I did notice this lone fisherman on the pier. I thought, with the foggy condition, it could make an interesting image, so I took several photos. I never got closer to the subject than you see here.
When I got home, I looked over the results of the morning, picked this photo as the best effort and posted it to my blog.<... more »

Optimist's Moon - - Kewaunee Lighthouse and moon.
A pessimist might look at this moon and say it was half-empty. An optimist, on the other hand, would see it as half-full. It was, indeed a full moon, partially obscured by clouds.

Tiny Surprise - a tiny crab spider hides among the wild violets.
Danger lurks here! When I took this photo on a walk through the woods, I saw only a nice collection of wild violets. It wasn't until I viewed this image on my computer that I noticed the tiny crab spider hiding in the bloom on the left.

Harbor Slush
The harbor at Algoma, WI was busy making slush on the morning I snapped this image. There were chunks of ice undulating with minimal wave action. As they moved, ever so slightly, together and apart, the slush in the water created by the cold temperatures was pushed up between the chunks of ice, creating the ridges seen here. If you squint, you can see the first hint of the morning sun on the horizon, just to the right of the lighthouse.

Garden Torches
The tulips are now in top form throughout northeast Wisconsin. In a sea of red and yellow tulips, these orange toned specimens stood out. The color reminded me of flames – like garden torches.

Superior Rock Collection
On a summer trip to the shore of Lake Superior, a few years ago, we had the opportunity to wade through the clear, icy-cold waters.
This is a collection of colorful rocks in the shallow water near the Wisconsin shore of Lake Superior. I used this as my desktop wallpaper for a long time and always thought it would be a challenging image for a large puzzle.

SOLD You never know what people will like...or why.
I just sold this double matted, framed, 30x24 print to a nice lady in PA. She emailed me saying she just loved it. This is not one of my favorite images, so I asked her why it appealed to her. She said she was redecorating her husband's office and he happens to be a scuba diver. She loved the lion fish and thought having the eel in the shot was a bonus. (To me, the eel is the standout and the lion fish is the bonus.)
