Working with undergrad students, the critical thing is for them to figure out their synthesis. What are the things they care enough about to stay engaged and are also things people will hire them to do. It can take a few iterations.

Mobile is finally catching on in our Midwestern business community. Everyone is promoting it. Would have liked more details on this event.

The salient fact is that 85% of people watch live tv, but what exactly. Sporting and other performance events demand live viewing. Virtually everything else not.

You get what you pay for. Cell service contracts are a rip off, but the cheap ones don't deliver.

Google+'s main drawback is that there is no method of curation here. Yet, some things are worth hanging onto. As suggested to me over a year ago by +Ade Oshineye, I just created an empty circle to do that.

If you have google+ comments, I will always use them. This is in fact my dream of several years come true.

These all look very good. It seems to me though that you don't want writing a proposal to be the first step in a relationship. Perhaps though, it could be viewed as an opportunity to initiate a directed dialog with a prospect. I've certainly used it that way.
I wish this site defaulted to G+ comments.

It would be cool if this share connected back to the album I was sharing it from.

I hear a lot of complaining about LinkedIn endorsements because many come from casual acquaintances, but I think they are valuable feedback regardless of how well the reviewer may know you. They let you know what the average joe thinks you're good at.

Is Google+ the new Groove (Ray Ozzie at Microsoft about a decade ago)?

Nice admission up front: Only 5% of people enrolled in online classes make it through to the end. This must be including all kinds of online classes because our dropout rate is not that high, but it is higher than for face-to-face.
It's good that people recognize that online courses are harder.
I would tend to go at this differently. Use online interaction to lessen but not eliminate the need for physical meetings.

I use these hangouts a lot for different student organizations. It is amazing the idea that top corporate and students are using the same google resources. It brings a whole new connectedness between companies and the public. I think google did the right thing by making it available for social or business use from the start.

Here's something I'd like, a google port of ChromeOS that I could run on my macbook air. Charge $100 for it. I'd buy to test it out.

It is nice that Facebook is trying to get into the mobile space, but sometimes you have to know when to call it quits. I don't see anyone really using this. I would have recommended fb going a different route.

What I like about teaching the summer practicum course is that it breaches the barrier between classroom talk and real world do. Students can actually see what it's all about. #SummerPracticum

How does brand play in with the idea of web conversions? People involved in brand tell me it is about driving brand engagement. How that ultimately translates into improved sales is hard to model. One thing, frequently, you use brand as a tool to drive conversions later in the purchase cycle.

The interesting thing about this talk is that it occurred on the opening day of Google I/O. Google currently has the lead in mobile OS. Yet, the talk did not mention Google in the future of the web.

+Ade Oshineye I left this comment on the youtube of your I/O talk. It was a small brainstorm:
The whole discussion of interactive posts reminds me of designing landing pages for conversions. Interesting to see that brought to social media posts. Our non-profit AdWords clients could really do with this for some of their campaigns. You should develop a version that is tied to a G+ page and allows things like donations through checkout or signup via forms. Call it Google+ Sign-in Express.

Just one of the many great videos now available from Google I/O, h/t +Denis Labelle and +Ade Oshineye.
I'm almost as fired up about this I/O as I was the one I attended 3 years ago. Why? Well, it's the web really and some of the stuff google is finally doing with identity (aka sign-in). All pretty cool.

I would like it if the hang-outs app would incorporate google voice. That's really the next big challenge: integrating telephone with the rest of it.

The good of photo sharing on G+:
1. Your photos can go double wide, creating a stunning impression.
2. It's fairly easy to do from your mobile device.
The bad of photo sharing on G+ (much of this since Wednesday):
1. Impossible to share a photo in an album as part of the album.
2. Strange behavior of the notification interface. Click on your photo from a notification and be prepared for ugliness.
3. Overuse of the "awesome photo" animation feature in a way that is reminiscent of the blink tag.
Overall, I like the new G+ interface, but the type of photo sharing I do has taken a hit.

I tried an el-cheapo chromebook in the store today. It's by far Google's best conceptualized device. It's really evolved well. The $249 Samsung is a bit underpowered, but the price is right. Good as a kitchen terminal or a home internet access device.
It needs to connect to other stuff like your TV and phone (all of which are kind of possible).

I've had i/o on in the background at work the past couple of afternoons. It's not a bad way to go. I particularly enjoyed the talk about google analytics and the measurement api.
I'd like to see the recorded-only sessions pop up a little faster, but the archive is well organized.
The thing I missed was getting to interact with some of the folks I've connected with here on G+. I see them in photos and videos, not quite the same. I'll have to figure out a way to go.

Note to all analytics geeks. How do I assign a user ID that does not contain personally identifiable information (PII)? I suppose one could amend that to say PII not widely known or used by other systems. But, it still seems dicey to me.

I'm watching google analytics across all devices at I/O (streaming is working GREAT). It's AMAZING. Now, suddenly, you can easily measure interactions in real world as well as web. No longer tied to just pageviews.
FYI, a way of understanding analytics up till the arrival of events is that it was just a sophisticated way of deriving stats based on the simple act of pulling web pages. Way beyond that now.

How do I share a photo that I've uploaded to an album so that it preserves a link to that album?

I'm finding the new G+ UI an improvement.
The positives:
1. Fewer distractions. Sidebars are gone unless you specifically activate them (hangouts/chat in particular).
2. More space devoted to content. It's about double what it was.
3. The posting interface has better contrast.
4. The one column post display will work well for low res overhead projection (this is a niche use case, but welcome)
The negatives:
1. It's a little too animated. Less bounciness would be preferred.

I kind of like Josh's strategy here. The domain JoshConryoy.com was taken so he just took the domain xConroy.com. Kind of brilliant. It's something people will remember.
Excellent list of networking opportunities. It's good to be exhaustive.

You know Microsoft must be feeling the heat with all these anti google drive ads. It's a sign of weakness. They failed to achieve the initiative.

You should experiment with single column content. Layout options are found under the more menu of your "home" tab.

Little noticed feature of the new G+ interface, it's responsive design. Narrow the browser window enough, and you get two columns. As you widen the browser, you get three, and as you widen it further, those three get a little wider. Very cool. Plus, it's fast in chrome.

Did Google just become the place to go for all web activity?
