+Bob Nagy and I went out on a  "guerilla solar" mission to help a guy in the Montopolis part of Austin who has no electricity, no water, no phone, no internet and not much money.   We set up a 6 heavy duty batteries, a couple of solar panels, inverter, etc so he has electricity to power a flat screen tv we installed hooked up to about 14 over the air channels in Austin and left a hard drive with about 1,000 great movies on it.  He does have gas so we can now look for a propane refrigerator for him.  We made a video of the project so others can do this.

I'm surprised to see a list that Austin is not on.  And we're a pretty big cycling town.  Amsterdam and Copenhagen are first and second, with other major European cities not far behind, including Berlin (8th), Dublin (9th), Munich, (11th), Barcelona and Paris (tied for 13th). Only one North American city makes it into the top 20--Montreal, in 11th place--and there are no U.S. cities. But several do make it to the top 40: Minneapolis, New York, Austin, Portland, San Francisco, Chicago.

The Boston bombing terrorist updated his (fake?) Facebook profile picture a couple of minutes ago and got this comment: bro the cops are lookin for u and u updatein ur cover lol...that takes balls.  The account wasn't just created and goes back in time quite a bit.

This could be huge for Austin, Texas! Google Inc. appears to be ready to announce this week that it has chosen Austin for the expansion of its ultra-high-speed broadband service, known as Google Fiber.
City officials and Google have set Tuesday morning for an official announcement but have declined to disclose — or confirm — any specifics of the project.
If Google Fiber is coming to Austin, the city would be the second major market where Google rolled out the service.

Coming in the next week, a hangout on air with +Yulia V Smirnova who I met at the #sxsw  trade show in March 2013.  The panel discussion will include  +Bob Nagy and +Eric Law.  Yulia will be talking about the human attention process as it relates to ecommerce and what drives conversion, among many other things.  We'll have a calendar event for this soon.

It's the 7th Anniversary of Twitter and I got a call today from a major media outlet who wanted my thoughts on the changes twitter has been through.  Back in 2007 I was called the "most popular person on twitter" and the NY Times wrote in the article below  that "most twitterers communicate with small networks of people they know, but the most popular have thousands of friends and followers. In the final hour of the SXSW Trade Show this guy came up to me and asked "Do you want to see a cool app?"  Wow, I'm glad I took him up on it.  This was the biggest surprise moment of SXSW 2013.  You may be amazed when you see what he does with his iPhone.  And remember you saw it here first before engadget and the rest of the tech press runs it.
