A little over 16 years ago my wife and I joined our lives together. I definitely made out in the deal though because while she got stuck with me and a goofy dog, I got her and an amazing family that took me in and made me feel as I always belonged with them.

Today on Father's Day I thank those 3 kids I met back then for the privileged of stepping into that fatherly role. The joy of partaking in those events in their lives that fathers remember forever. Times that I think about when driving in the car alone and bring either a smile to my face or tears to my eyes.

The dance with my oldest daughter at her wedding. The joy of the grandchildren she has given me. The pride of what an incredibly good mom she has become.

"On the Jeeps in question, the fuel tank is positioned behind the rear axle and under the rear floor -- a placement not uncommon at the time, but rare now. If there's no practical way to alter the vehicles -- moving the gas tanks is probably not an option -- buying them all back could be the only alternative. That would be prohibitively expensive, even though the vehicles are up to 20 years old. A buyback would cost the company at least thousands for every vehicle a customer wanted bought back."

Notifications that sync across devices, and a new Android app

Starting today, Google+ notifications are much easier to use across mobile and desktop. In particular:

- When you read a notification on one device, we'll mark it as read on your other devices
- Likewise: dismissing a notification (with a swipe or a click) does so everywhere, so you can say goodbye to annoying repeats

We've also updated the look and feel of Google+ notifications, including:

- A new bell icon (in the Google Bar, and in the mobile apps) that lets you know if anything's waiting for you
- An updated notifications tray that separates unread from previously-read items

Newton’s Apple

You probably know the story of Isaac Newton.  He was sitting under an apple tree when he saw an apple fall to the ground.  This inspired his idea of universal gravity.  There’s long been some debate as to the truth behind this tale.  The story comes most famously from “Memoirs of Sir Isaac Newton’s Life” by William Stukeley in 1752.  Earlier mentions appear in works of Voltaire and Robert Greene.  Whether true or not, it is a story we love to tell.  It portrays Newton as a genius with a revolutionary insight.
