We were honored to sponsor and attend Words of War in support of +Headstrong Project, +Team Rubicon, and +Student Veterans of America on Wednesday night. The event featured several readings of war poetry from Sophocles to Words of War writing contest winner, Marine +Garrett Anderson who read an original poem, "Grunt Circles." Jake Gyllenhaal did a great reading of Wilfred Owen's "Dulce et Decorum Est" and Anthony Edwards led a pre-event Hangout with combat veterans who write about their experiences.

Words of War will be an amazing cocktail fundraiser to benefit the Headstrong Project. The +Headstrong Project began treating military veterans in August 2012 and will be using funds raised from this event to expand care to veterans and their families. 

In partnership with media partners +Google, +Newsweek and The Daily Beast, and +Pixel Corps, Words of War will also benefit +Team Rubicon, Team RWB, and +Student Veterans of America. 

These organizations have all been incredibly effective at buildings communities of veterans - a strong antidote to the effects of PTSD and moral injuries. 

The evening will include a war poetry reading by Jake Gyllenhaal. Additionally, Adam Driver (from HBO’s Girls and major motion picture Lincoln) and Joanne Tucker (Arts in the Armed Forces) of Theater of War will be performing a scene from Sophocles’ Ajax, a play that illustrates thetimeles... more »
