As cool as other "crowdfunding platforms" are, I think I may have found my new favorite in http://www.patreon.com.

Created by +Jack Conte, this site is for artists who are prolific and are constanlty releaseing new content (like single songs, videos or lessons) vs putting all their energy into one giant project like a novel, movie or an album.

"Patrons" can subscrible to the content and decide how much they would like  to pay for each piece of content. 

I like it and will be offering new music. videos and lessons by way of patronage through this site soon!

Tldr; Persuing a music carreeer via a TV game show is like calling the purchase of lottery tickets the plan for your financial future.

I've been getting this more an more: People who know who I am and what I do from being here.

I sat-in with a jazz group and introduced myself to the bass player. He says to me, "I already know you from +Google+"

I greeted a new student. "Oh, I already know you from +Google+"

I get a call from an agent with whom I work from time-to-time "The client saw you on +Google+"

Today we celebrate the birthday of the late-great tenor saxman Joe Henderson.

Only a few years ago, I played as a regular member of the Joe Henderson Memorial Big Band. The group consisted of several players from Joe's many bands. We had Joe's original book of his great compositions and arrangements  Several of the charts were handwritten by Joe.

Though I was in my mid-40s at the time, I was one of the younger players in the group. I would sit and listen to the stories that were told about being on a recording session or tour with Joe. It was like hanging out at the original Blue Note session with my jazz heros.

I'm busily preparing for our upcoming In-Studio Hangout Concert (Event info here: http://goo.gl/tdRup) coming-up here soon.

I'm on +Google+ all the time, but I sometimes think the rest of my band thinks I'm a little weird. We'll just see about that...

We're deciding on tunes, getting the studio ready, thinking about signal flow and other tech issues...there's more to it than standing in front of a webcam and counting-off a tune.

We're calling this a Reverse World Tour since the world is coming to my studio vs us traveling the globe. You want to join us? C'mon over!
