I try math jokes on my students all the time. One of the biggest differences between my students who are (or will be) taking calculus is that they usually get them, whereas, those who aren't (or won't ever be) usually don't. In an algebra class, you can always spot the math geek because they are the only student laughing.

By that definition I'm an epistemological rationalist. I care about the truth.
