Gregg Lantz2,962Tomorrow is a taxing day here in the United States. You get to decide if you want to buy Glass (sorry IRS). If you're not sure and would like to know what others are saying, add this circle.  You'll be able to look at public posts from people that use Glass and people that purchased Glass and put it on the shelf while software was being developed. You'll get both sides of the story. Hopefully this circle will help make the decision process a little easier. Markos Giannopoulos18,370The smiling circle! // Checking my profile on +CircleCount, I found out that someone added a "smile" tag on it. Tags is a feature on Circlecount where you can add tags on your profile to show what kind of content you post, but other people can add tags as well. So, some kind person added a "smile" tag on me. Whoever you are, thank you!Apparently, there are more people with the tag (see http://bit.ly/1ftgCJw), but for easier access to some positively-charged people, I've created a circle out of this list using +Circloscope. Included are some highly succesfull people, so perhaps there is some correlation.  :) That said, you should head over to circlecount.com, find your favorite similing person and add the smile tag on his/her profile ;) #circleoftheday #circleplus #public #publiccircles #publiccirclesproject #reshare #circles   #circleshare   #circlesharing   #sharedcircles #sharingcircles   #sharedpubliccircles   #sharedcircleoftheday   #share   #shared   #followers   #addcircles #publicsharedcircles   #share   #addpeople   #addcircle #addfriends   #circle   #socialmedia     #influencers   #influencer   2014-03-12 12:30:108110118

Kurt Smith21,124Here's The 'Best of Google Plus 2012' Circle Share (Circle 3 of 3)Last week I asked other plussers to name 5 Plussers they think should be named the 'Best of Google Plus 2012'. They nominated others based on what they think makes a really good Google Plusser - original & quality content; makes you think, laugh, & enjoy Google Plus more; engages with others; shares and helps others; etc. We got 1,308 nominations for 730 Plussers. This is the third of 3 Circle Shares of those named the 'Best of Google Plus' - this circle contains those who got 2-3 votes. These are plussers other plussers think are among the Best on Google Plus and I believe we should all circle and consider following them because other quality plussers we can trust recommend following them.Like the other circles I've curated ('Thought Provokers' & 'Plussers Who Give A Boost') you can only get in these circles on the recommendation of another plusser (no "add me" going on here). So this is a quality group that should be recognized for making Google Plus better for all of us.Let's encourage quality on G+ and the best way we can do that is to Add & Share these circles. It took some work to put this together, so the best 'thank you' you can give me (and the nominees) is to add, share and encourage your followers to do the same.Circle 1 (those who got 4+ nominations): http://goo.gl/tAePDCircle 2 (those who 2-3 nominations): http://goo.gl/7IBkVWondering who nominated you? (Please get your webcam going though!) and join in the fun conversations. What do we talk about in these hangouts with strangers? To the best of my ability everyone in this circles has personally hungout with me... and it was fun.. :)This circle is where I have made the most lasting connections on G+.... Meeting many of these people in real life since I met them in hangouts. I joined G+ Jun 29th, 2011. I hung out then and pretty much most days since. I was voted Google+ Hangout Queen this year :)I've seen amazing things in hangouts, Tours of far away countries, cooking classes, airplane trips, photowalks, concerts, language lessons, trivia nights, relationship advice, seeing famous landmarks, attending behind the scenes of tv shows, hangouts with famous celebrities, and countless late night and early morning hangouts with fabulous normal people from all parts of the world and right next door... TV shows have nothing on this. Countless experiences all without leaving my living room.If you want to try out hangouts on G+, ADD THIS CIRCLE and join one! These people will have hangouts that you should be able to see and join in on...   People in hangouts are usually really welcoming and nice.. so speak up.. say hi and join us.♥ ♥ Please feel free to share ♥ ♥ps. if you cant add the circle because google says you added too many today.. remove some of the people and try again... :)#googlehangout #hangout #sharedcircles  2012-11-16 03:28:4650010748169

Tom Rolfson23,033Here's the shared circle I prepared for +Christina DesMarais story on Inc.com. My intention was to create a circle that would give newcomers a very broad selection of all the awesome people here on +Google+ .  I know I will have missed many but had to create it on a short notice and limit it in size to not overwhelm people with trying to have to filter it. If you feel I left you out, please do not be offended and DO add yourself to the comments so the Inc readers can discover you as well. 2012-06-05 17:09:212001114767

ChefHangout.com
Chapter Two

Who will be the next owner?

Hello everyone,

We launched ChefHangout.com here on Google+ with great fanfare as a place to take live cooking classes from the comfort of your own kitchen using Hangouts. We accomplished awesome things (covered below) and proved that a magical and delectable experience with repeat customers could be delivered via webcam effectively.

Today, I’m very excited to announce the sale of ChefHangout.com and with great anticipation, I look forward to seeing who the right buyer will be. Chapter two will begin soon as we embark on finding the right company or individual to take it to the next level.

Reason for sale.

Why Google+ is the place for passions

The single biggest controversy about social media, and one that has persisted for two or three years now without resolution, is whether Google+ is a dying wasteland of non-activity, or a hive of conversation and engagement.

It can't be both. So which is it? And why can't this fundamental question be answered?

I believe I have the key to the puzzle, and I'll attempt to solve it once and for all.

Here what the Twitter people and the Facebook people don't understand about the Google+ people:

Do you know an entrepreneur who would like to grow ChefHangout.com into the primary destination on the planet for cooking classes?

Are you a company that has a culinary online presence that could benefit greatly from having live classes? +Epicurious ....?

My work at ChefHangout was that of creator and builder, visionary and dreamer. It now requires a company or an individual who will bring full time leadership and the resources necessary to realize the fantastic potential that ChefHangout possesses.

Another reason I’m selling is that my primary business, Merger Partners, has become very successful and is growing. We’ve created something new in the investment banking industry, and as a result, very substantial growth is underway and I’m hiring. It requires my full dedication and focus. Therefore,  I cannot devote the time necessary to take ChefHangout to the next level.

Two Types of Buyers for ChefHangout.com

Strategic buyer - A company
The right strategic buyer could acquire ChefHangout.com and very rapidly scale it to hundreds of chefs teaching thousands of classes. There are dozens of strategic buyers that we’ve identified and will be approaching. There are compelling reasons why ChefHangout is an interesting fit for each one of these companies. Some include +Blue Apron (how about it +Matt Salzberg?) You said that more educational content could be a part of Blue Apron’s future plans. Why not offer some of your meals with a cooking class?), +Sur La Table, +Munchery, +Plated, +Whole Foods Market, +Epicurious, Central Market, +Yummly  …… and even +Helpouts by Google, but I imagine Google will be more interested once an entrepreneur grows the company to over 1,000 chefs. Do you have ideas for companies that would be strategic fits? Please me know.

Entrepreneur
The right entrepreneur can grow the company into a phenomenal destination and would do the things necessary to create a very successful business. As Chef +Adam Massimo Mazzocchetti said, ChefHangout.com should be the first place anyone on the planet thinks of when they want to take a cooking class. I will work with the right entrepreneur to grow the company into a cash flowing success that can either be sold to a strategic buyer or grown through venture funding when certain metrics are achieved. VCs are pouring money into food startups and this one could be very appealing once a larger cash flow stream is maintained and strategic partnerships are formed with bigger brands.

Are you an angel investor who’s intrigued? I know one individual here on +Google+ who is an extremely capable guy and with the right backer, could grow this business dramatically. Let’s connect you two.

The Process
I’ve hired an advisor to lead the effort in selling ChefHangout.com. That firm will field inquiries from here along with our own contacts we are making to prospective buyers.

The process is very simple. After my advisor has conversations with interested buyers, we will schedule conference calls with my advisor and myself, and exchange any confidential and detailed information.

We will assess indications of interest and term sheets from various buyers and choose one during the month of November with a December closing targeted.

Contact Info
Please contact me at JoeSaad@ChefHangout.com and we will respond to inquiries. Feel free to ask questions by commenting here if you like.  There is certain private, proprietary and confidential information that I will not be able to answer publicly, but I’ll certainly address privately with credible buyers.

Stories of Success & Awesome Things

Date Night Investor
A husband and wife bought a date night cooking class with our amazing +Chef Dennis Littley. The couple are friends of mine and twenty minutes after the class, I received a call from John. He was practically giddy! He went on and on about how much fun they had and then dropped the news. He and his wife had saved $50,000 and they wanted to invest in ChefHangout.com. While I didn’t take their investment, it told me a lot. The experience was so much fun and so awesome, that they wanted to immediately invest.

William Burdette from NoSatiation.com
+William Burdette is a podcaster at No Satiation, “a podcast for food nerds”.
After taking a cooking class at ChefHangout.com, he of course did a podcast about it and said, “I left my kitchen kind of euphoric. When people talked about the promise of the internet, 10, 15, 20 years ago, this is what they were talking about.”

ZAGAT and ChefHangout.com at SXSW

Here’s How it Works

One Chef. Three Cities. One Family.
This family likes hanging out together. But, separated geographically, it's challenging to meet sometimes. So, they decided to have a private cooking class at ChefHangout.com. They laughed and had fun while making an amazing meal together, and when our chef left after class, they dined together, family to family, face to face. Great media coverage, including this from +The Next Web
“ChefHangout is a Genius Use of Google+ and Could Actually Make Money”
goo.gl/D7Kga Thanks to +Drew Olanoff for recognizing us!

Happy Repeat Customers
+Jeff Karpinski our number one customer, bought ... well let’s just say, over a dozen classes. When I asked Jeff one day why he bought so many classes given he was already a pretty darn good cook, he said this. “Because I’m willing to try cooking things I never would have tried by myself. With a chef standing with me in my kitchen, I’m willing to try things like tiramisu.”

Master Classes
Ten Classes. One Subject. Be an Expert.
There is nothing else like this in the market, and it serves a need for those who crave deeper culinary knowledge and want more than just one class, but aren’t interested in going to get a formal education in culinary arts. Once completed, the customer gets a ChefHangout chef jacket and the satisfaction of knowing they’ve accomplished a level of expertise in one particular area of cooking.

Massive thank you to our chefs!
Our chefs inspired me throughout the process of building something great. They signed on before they even saw a website. Our first developer just couldn’t build the sort of site we needed and the chefs hung in there. Our second developer was nothing short of genius as they were able to build things that people to this day, can’t seem to replicate and approach me to buy.

Our chefs motivated me and more importantly, many of them became my friends. Chef +Jake Croston, the popular, handsome and funny chef whose skills should be on TV, +Chef Dennis Littley's wisdom and knowledge proved again and again to be of great value, Chef +Haylee Otto, +Mary Helen Leonard, +Stormy Sweitzer, +Jessica Chiasson Wood, +Jackie M, +Adam Massimo Mazzocchetti, +Jenny Kelley, +Janice Mansfield and many more were all instrumental in building something brand new and unique.

And, a huge thanks to all of you!
There have been tons of awesome relationships built along this path! I’ll never forget the launch day announcement Hangout with +Sarah Hill on the news, a pioneer and trailblazer here for human media, many Hangouts with +Bruce Garber, the co-creator of +Virtual Photo Walks™,  strategy discussions with +Peter G McDermott, +Chris Hill, +Michael Sitarzewski & +Chris Yates and hanging out at +SXSW in Austin with +Amanda Blain, +Daria Musk and so many others. Hangouts with +Laurie DesAutels, +Mike Downes, +Kim Beasley, +Elaine Lindsay, and even superstar +Mark Cuban! I’ll never forget those early creative discussions with +Paul Allen founder of Ancestry.com. I’m grateful for friends from Google like +Loren Groves who was valuable and supportive as we developed ChefHangout. +Vic Gundotra you’re inspiring and thank you for your kind words not long ago in Dallas, +Anne Espiritu your knowledge of PR and marketing is second to none. +Denis Labelle  your insight and wealth of information on Google+ has been massively valuable and the same to +Ronnie Bincer  – hanging out with you in Austin was a blast! +Pelpina Trip what an amazing video you did for our site! +Dan McDermott's  outstanding expertise here has been of great value! You and many more like you have been huge parts of building this, and I’m deeply grateful for each of you.

Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart!

Extremely cool Google!

Keep taking these moonshots and don't listen to the Wall Street analysts who are short term thinkers. Stick with Google X and keep pouring the most creative minds in the world into building things that someday will change the world.

Thanks.

We did a cooking show (photos below) with +ZAGAT so take a peak at the YouTube video of it here: http://youtu.be/hZT_XC79qZE

Here’s How it Works
http://youtu.be/0yBB3vW5ZcY

Watch some of it here: http://youtu.be/CJwkEiId868

Our brand age here has over 1.6 million followers
Check it out here: +ChefHangout.com

Fantastic!

Looking back at acquisitions. Yahoo bought Broadcast.com for around $5 billion at the height of the dotcom boom in quite possibly the worst acquisition in history.

Then in 2005, they paid just $35 million for Flickr.

What lessons were learned?

Amazing stuff! Wow!

From article: Take a complicated command like “Give me a flight to Dallas with a seat that Shaq could fit in.” Viv will parse the sentence and then it will perform its best trick: automatically generating a quick, efficient program to link third-party sources of information together—say, Kayak, SeatGuru, and the NBA media guide—so it can identify available flights with lots of legroom. And it can do all of this in a fraction of a second.

Thanks for this great summary +Yifat Cohen!

Google Apps users - get unlimited space  for just $10 / month.

Google Drive for Work give your business unlimited storage, advanced audit reporting and new security controls for $10 per user per month.

You can also work on any Office documents from your Android-based mobile devices or from Google Drive - without having to download any apps.

All files now uploaded to Google Drive will also be encrypted, not only between the user's device and Google and in transit between Google data centers, but also while the information is at rest on Google servers.

And for users who having been hoping to create PowerPoint-like presentations on their Android or Apple devices, there's now mobile support for Google Slides, an Android app that enables users to create, edit and collaborate on presentations.
