Sean Clark824A photowalk that (roughly) follows the path of last year's Maribyrnong walk and (less-roughly) stops at some of the sights of the soon-to-be-complete Regional Rail Link - City to Maribyrnong River Project.the routeA rough route is here. Happy to take suggestions and make changes:http://goo.gl/ycHjMIMeet at Footscray Station, finishing at the pub South Kensington Station. It's a bit of a hike (~3km on foot), and covers about 1/2 of the project, but there are some highlights that have been built by RRL-CMR including:- The new Maribyrnong River rail bridge - built to complement the heritage bridge that it sits beside- Street art by Makatron at South Kensington StationThere are also a few sights from the project's neighours:- The new Footscray Station (built by the adjoining project RRL-FDP)- The temple of the Heavenly Queen- South Kensington Skate Park- Lots (and lots) of +Cableicous action throughout the South Kensington area- Oh, and the fish-and-chip place at Conway - Must. Stop. There.Maribyrnong Photowalk2014-07-12 10:00:009
Paul Pavlinovich20,302Ok, even though we're not Americans we've got fireworks on July 4th this year too so why not get out and celebrate with a photowalk? I've moved this to under the Bolte Bridge for something different. There is usually parking up this end of Docklands Drive. We'll shoot either from under the bridge or more likely from the wasteland where the circus tent used to be. We'll be very close to the fireworks so wide angle would be useful but not essential. We should be able to get fireworks and bridge and if we're lucky fireworks and city. After the fireworks we'll make our way towards the death star for some night shots. Docklands walk and Fireworks2014-07-04 10:00:005
Paul Pavlinovich20,302We'll be walking from the Maribyrnong River to the Yarra River following as closely as possible the old goods railway line as it originally existed to move goods from one part of the port to another for distribution around Melbourne.Where there are available high points we'll take them to see the lights of the Port of Melbourne, The City on the skyline, and of course The Death Star. It's roughly a 6.5km walk plus detours. The faint of heart can shorted in by diverting onto the Capital City Trail after we cross Railway Canal. We'll meet at The Reverence Hotel in Footscray from 5pm and start the walk at dusk as the lights come up nicely for photography probably around 6.15pm. We'll finish at the pizza shop at the end of Webb Bridge where you can get take away for about $10 or eat and drink within if your pockets are deep.Everyone welcome.Map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=z58dq65KDHgk.kmFUSfv1sWb4River2River Anniversary Photowalk2014-06-20 17:00:0021

0How well do you know the surrounding area you live in? Melbourne Photowalkers is a great community for organising and running photowalks in and around Melbourne. Many members of this community are not able to attend photowalks for various reasons. We have created this event to give everyone a chance to experience their own photowalk in your *local or surrounding suburb you live in*.    Try and capture something unique or unusual. Move out of your comfort zone and try to be creative.  Add a small description to your photo and you may encourage others to venture out and visit your local area and see what you have captured. *The best photo of the event, as judged by +Charles Strebor  will receive a 20" x 30" (50x76cm) Print on 250gsm Satin Photo Paper.*   Everyone has two weeks to complete the photowalk and submit their photos. Paul Pavlinovich20,302Join us for another anniversary walk with all the usual and plenty of new faces from the Melbourne Photowalkers community.Walk starts and finishes at Collingwood Station. Food is available at The People's Market (expect to be there around 3pm) and after the official walk end at back near the town hall many of us will continue to the The Retreat Hotel for dinner and  beer. Here is the route https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212211852192101909727.0004d81878e69719df99d&msa=0&ll=-37.803952,144.990327&spn=0.016598,0.033023It's not as long as it looks. Note I've changed the times to ensure we can get into The People's Market which is absolutely brilliant. We'll be going past loads of laneways with amazing street art which are not marked on the route (a few are). If you want to make your walk longer feel free to diverge down the laneways.Suggestions:. There is an urbex site - use commonsense and make your own choices. Down the laneways travel in at least pairs - this is a fairly dodgy place sometimes - this means you Margaret Wong!Google Anniversary Photowalk *COLLINGWALK*2013-03-23 03:00:0054

Paul Pavlinovich20,302Maribyrnong River Afternoon Photo WalkDUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS WALK HAS BEEN CHANGED TO AFTERNOON. IF YOU SHOW UP AT DAWN YOU WILL BE LONELY, COLD AND WETWhen: Saturday 2nd Feb Where: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=212211852192101909727.0004d29a33b5533122c8a&msa=0Time: Starts 1.00pm at Quarry Park in Footscray  Station Finish 6.00pm near Newport on the river. Dedicated souls might like to continue to Williamstown for Dinner, I will be.This walk is in an industrial and park area along the river. An area in renaissance as it is reborn from Melbourne's industrial and ports to residential and small cottage industries. There are river views, port views, bridges, amazing graffiti. At the beginning we'll be treated to a fantastic sunrise over the city skyline directly along the river from our vantage point in Quarry Park.Quarry Park can be entered from Owens St. Very limited parking at both. Parking at Newport (or Williamstown if you're going to walk that far) then car pooling up to the walk start would be advisable.Things to know:. there are no public dunnies you'd actually want to use. there is nowhere to get water. Since its a long one carpooling and making arrangements to get a some cars to the finish would be a good ideaMaribyrnong Afternoon Photo Walk2013-02-02 03:00:1510

Lady Fran W7,172Can you make an ordinary running kitchen tap look fab? This challenge came about following a conversation in a thread with +Megan Huddle (thanks for the inspiration babe!). Whilst on a recent trip to New Zealand, I got my very first 'soft milky water' shot of a stream, and purely by luck. I had no ND filter, no tripod, just good light and a little bridge to lean the camera on. See here - http://goo.gl/Vpz58I'm now obsessed with trying out this kind of photography wherever I go. I'm searching for streams, waterfalls, beaches, you name it. +Megan Huddle suggested I could make anything look good (uber flattered). .. and so the challenge came about. A camera, an idea, and a plain old running tap in the kitchen sink.    Can you make it look fab?   I think you can. Work your magic. Show us what you’ve got.Any camera, and setting, any processing. It’s all open to your imagination and creativity.Sooooo, why not give it a go?  There's no prizes I'm afraid. No rewards. (Unless some super generous sponsor out there wants to throw something in as incentive.) Otherwise, it's all about the glowing recognition, compliments and praise from your G+ peers. Due date: 11:30pm, Friday 8 December Saturday 9 December -----------------------------------------------------------PS PUBLIC EVENT! - Apparently one can't invite large numbers of guests to an event (ie big circles), soooo, please feel free to forward this around and get people involved. =)Photo challenge - A simple tap2012-12-08 13:30:0072

David Roma39,857☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺☺ Epic Engagers #7☺ curated by +David Roma  on October 20th☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺I was at a motor sport event on the weekend and they said the attendance was 10 thousand people. Does my head in to think 4 times more people want to see my posts. Thank you all so very much for your support! There was so much engagement this fortnight that I couldn't fit you all in this circle. I have given priority to the sharers of my work and my very best engagers. This circle has been carefully selected by myself. It includes a selection of people who have made my page a community and a joy to be a part of. Thank you so much to each one of you. I hope you get the followers you deserve! This circle is shared every 5000 new followers which is approx. every fortnight. To be included in any future circles...○ Well, unlike many other circle shares. There is no sharing +1, or comment requirement.○ These people are genuine engagers of my content. They Circled me, reshared, commented, or added me to their own Circle shares. They have brought so much life to this page and inspire me to keep on shooting...○ I guess the above is a hint ;)If you add this circle....○ I'm sure these people will bring life to your page too!○ Please do support them as they support you by resharing this circle to public, your circles and extended circles.○ And don't forget to check out their profiles and engage with their content too ;)○ It's a great way to get people who appreciate great content, and Photographers who crave engagement to meet!If you were not in this circle and feel you should have been...○ Sorry!!! Gailen Mapes68,805Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Canon Camera N-Q - 9 of 31Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. They are split to not exceed 200 members. These circles are photographers that I admire. They have "more photos, less spam."  There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity). Be sure to get all of the circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to October 1st for the start of this set.  (Previous complete set was published starting September 1st.)  You can also use the #handpickedcircles hash tag and sort by "recent."I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:   https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday   #sharedcircles   #sharedcircle #sharedpubliccircles   #fullcircleshare #addmetoyourcircles #pixelworld   #pixelworldcircle #circleoftheday #bestsharedcircle   #thebestcirclesongoogle #thebestcircle             #handpickedcircles             Note: the hash tag #handpickedcircles  should only be used to refer to these circles and other circles created by +2014-10-09 10:25:01137000

Gerard Blacklock23,700Gerry's Australian Photographers Circle Version 3Hey Aussie togs, this is a pretty big update to this circle from the last one, this time I have been more selective in the fact that inactive glus members get booted, the circle was over 600 and as such I needed to comply with 'the less than 500 requirement' hence culling was needed.Note, this is the only circle I share since I really have a interest in local content.Feel free to reshare as you see fit, the main purpose is to facilitate more engagement between local aussie togs. Please feel free to comment and let me know if you know anyone (or if you are indeed one) who is a quality, active and interesting Australian based photographer. Two great communities/themes to get involved with if you like Australia content is #photomaniaustralia +Photo Mania Australia and Australian Landscape Photography https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/1060822645285719679572014-08-13 02:56:2844714219

For the noobs... Welcome noobs here is a guide to being a ghost in the ghost town

How to Begin With Google+ A Blueprint to Your First Month On Google Plus!

Good evening guys!! ...here is my latest infographic :-)

I've seen a few people complaining Google+ Is a Ghost Town. Well, it definitely can be one; but it is not. Google+ is not the same social interface people are familiar with. That confuses people and they tend to give up, blaming the platform.

But if you know how to use it, no other social platform can come anywhere near to the potential of it. And here is a wonderful blue print, a beginners guide from the most reliable source, i.e. from Martin Shervington to help you use Google+ perfectly :-)

How sad is it that an Australian green energy company had gone to Germany with Australian developed technology because they can't get enough support here. Yay Australian government (all of them) drive our technology and science overseas soon we'll have nothing. Australian policy really needs to change. All the parties are equally useless in this regard. I equate or current politicians with squabbling baboons.

It needed some scenery. First two of about 1000 trees I've got in storage. Made these two in about 1990. I've made and bought them over the years. I should be able to have a respectable forest.

Level one bench work is done with the foam rough installed. Spot for curving trestle had its special bench work and the harbour has its recess. Track not used for 15 years really sucks. Bad joints and filthy rail everywhere. As real track is laid all joints need to be soldered. The plan will have two distinct levels with a half level that makes the transition. The grade will be steep but given I'm building narrow gauge logging that's sort of normal. Now you know what I've spent about 250 hours on. Fixing the bad structure and lining out this old shed. Still some more work to do. Only wish I could get my fireplace in. It's possible I might just pull that off. The overnight storm showed a few roof leaks I didn't know about that need to be fixed. So far so good. I do have to say that if you're into trains and you've never tried foam for your bench work do it. So much easier. So much... more »

One of the nice things about a rare Saturday morning to myself is simple nothing. Listening to the birds and insects. So far no one bloke has been the first to start an engine so we have peace. Sooner or later one bloke will start a mower or weed trimmer and then peace will be gone.

Although I've noticed cup has a crack. Need to search out another that matches the size of my morning heart starter.

Sir Charles of Darwin sent me another warning sign for my train shed door. Now it's complete. Thank you #beardo.

As for actual progress, the wall lining is all done. Most of the roof xps styrene is up to provide a barrier from the train burning summer heat. Need to get three more sheets Monday (unless they're open Saturday which is unlikely for a real building supplier). Layout planning has commenced. The planned aisles will allow me to get 5cm fatter and still fit :).

Some people are monumentally annoying... I go to Mentone to shoot the groyne. Ok its covered in kids. No problem, I move to shoot the rock, the custodian of the tribe moves them onto the rock. I think fine, I want to shoot the groyne anyway so I move back, so he moves the tribe. I ask him if he's deliberately doing it and he says yes. Some people are simply areswipes. It's ok, my fuckwit filter blackglass makes them all go away. Besides his wife had good boobs.

The good news is that I've solved the problem. I can now shoot with impunity. My additional foam around the existing gasket has stopped the influx of light between the filter and it's holder.

Now onto the review, these two images are SOOC except for a minor crop. They're shot in the same time frame. There certainly is some colour fading between the two images but I do have to say there is no colour cast.... more »

Now onto the review, these two images are SOOC except for a minor crop. They're shot in the same time frame. There certainly is some colour fading between the two images but I do have to say there is no colour cast. This would suggest that it's true that the Firecrest IRND16 does away with forcing b&w for long exposures.

The 5d ii leaks like a sieve, light comes in through the top LCD, the eyepiece (as it would on any SLR) and through the rear LCD and the front cable connection port unless its rubber cover is closed. I do need to find a better way to stop the light coming in than a big black cloth over the camera because in my groyne shots the wind was moving it about a bit which isn't ideal. I think I might need to make a bag that sits over camera and lens. Oh yeah, on the lens, the 24-105 f/4L zoom leaks in through the distance window. None of these leaks are apparent on normal exposures but they are on long ones in bright light.___

Light artefact solved. It's light leaking between the irnd16 and it's holder. The supplied gasket is too small and doesn't seal to the edges. +Formatt-Hitech +VANBAR PL +Frank Yuwono

After testing with various lens I decided to cover the entire filter folder in my rubberised black cloth. Artefact gone. On inspection I can find gaps around the gasket. It needs to be about 10mm bigger in both dimensions to solve this fully.

The next question is how do I get the old gasket off without killing the filter coating and where do I get a bigger one?

I'd like to get this solved quickly and finish my review.
