People usually hate when video games introduce new generations to awesome music. I actually think it's great. Back then, GTA San Andreas introduced me to Humble Pie. The new Trevor trailer for GTAV has a wonderful song by Waylon Jennings in it, and I have to say... I envy those little kids that, maybe on a subliminal level, are enjoying this country classic for the first time :)

MORE BIOSHOCK AWESOMENESS
Bioshock Infinite takes place in 1912. However, it's soundtrack contains modern songs adapted to that time period. These songs are usually very subtle during the game because they are heard on nearby radios and don't take too much of the player's attention (it's not their purpose, anyway). But they are there, and they weren't chosen by mere chance.

Even if videogames are his field, I consider Ken Levine to be far more brilliant than some of our contemporary filmmakers.

Google Plus PAGE and YouTube Channel Connection!

If you have a Brand Page on Google Plus, you have been waiting for this day to arrive! We now see that a Google Plus Page (brand page) can be connected to its own YouTube Channel (branded channel).

This feature is currently 'rolling out' to users... slowly!
Here are some live screen shots I took from someone that kindly shared this breakthrough news with me.

Once you have this choice (check your YouTube Channel's Advanced area: www.youtube.com/account_advanced ) ...you will finally have the ability to Run a Hangout on Air from your Google Plus PAGE and have it Stream Live onto your Branded YouTube Channel... no more games are needed. 3 things I liked about Motion 5
Before I say anything, let me remind you that I used these program for motion graphics only, and not for other purposes (color correction, special effects etc).
These last weeks I've been working on a trailer for my YouTube Channel (you can watch it here: ¡Bienvenidos a ZEPfilms!). It was the first "difficult" composition I've done without After Effects (my old standard), because I wanted to give apple's Motion 5 a try, and let me say I'm glad I did so... Here are some of my observations:

1) The "Groups" that are created every time you make a new layer are fantastic. At first, one can get a little bit confused, but once you get the idea of how groups work, you'll find them really useful. Personally, I found this feature a lot better than the old precomposing in AE.

Photographers, please answer this!
Why is almost everybody on Google+ so in love with HDR photography? I just checked some of the Most Popular photos on G+ and most of them where HDR. Some of them look great, some not so great. Some of them are just a random unsharp mask :P Come on guys!

Anyway, I've been on G+ since it was... born? and I always saw a great positive response from this community towards HDR images. Is there anything I'm missing here? Why does Google+ love HDR so much?

BIOSHOCK INFINITE LAUNCH TRAILER
Bioshock 1 is my favorite game of these last years. It was the first game where I realized that videogames could totally be an art, and a very amazing one. With a great story, some engaging mechanics and a captivating art direction and sound design, it proved to be more entertaining and culturally relevant than a lot of hollywood blockbusters (and even arty-films) of the same time.

BioShock Infinite, it's third release, takes place in a completely different place, but still, looks pretty awesome. Anyone else feels as excited as I am?

Uploading 2K/4K videos to YouTube
This week, my short film "El Suplicio" (Visitor Pulse) turns one year old since it was first published to YouTube. To celebrate this, I decided to re-upload the short film, this time in 2K resolution (2048x1024).
I knew that YouTube supported 2K/4K video, but never tried it on a project of my own. Since 4K took so long to upload (and motion graphics were rendered on 2K anyway) I decided to upload a 2K version using YouTube compression guidelines (changing only the resolution). The result was pretty impressive:

Just finished re-uploading my short film "El Suplicio", this time in 2K to YouTube... Yes, I've heard that YouTube supported 2K/4K video, but never tried it with my own work... And let me say that the quality and playback are amazing (you can watch the video tomorrow to see the results). Another point for this awesome platform :)

My Google+ cover has become pretty badass now... I'm using the same cover as +The Flaying :P
And, by the way, whenever I'm using Google+ on a laptop, I feel that the profile banner and header kinda suffocate the posts... Does anybody feel the same way?

THE COMPLETE KANTO SYMPHONY
Skotein is definitely one of my favorite game composers/arrangers on YouTube. He has a lot of awesome "orchestrated versions" from the Pokémon series. Some thoughts on the new YouTube design
Yesterday I switched to the new YouTube channel design to try it out. Contrary to most people, I actually did enjoy it. It's really easy to understand, and I like how videos and playlists are displayed now. Seems like well designed thumbnails are the new things that make a Channel unique (Now I understand why YT allowed custom thumbnails for non partners a couple of months ago).

The only thing that bugs me about this change is nothing design-wise, but the introduction of "tags" in the video manager... Now it looks like you can organize your videos by tags, giving them a completely different function than the one they had before... Are the new tags becoming the "Labels" of YouTube? Will I need to change the tags on all my videos for this new purpose? How will John and Hank Green handle this change with their 1000+v... more »

What did just happen to my profile?? Well photoshop, here we go again!

Good thing is that you don't need to update right now but, we all know google! So, for designers and anyone wondering about the new size of the cover images, they are about 925 x 387 pixels

Saved you some time there, didn't I? :)

Another thing to consider is that the profile picture is now on the left side (maybe you can recycle some old facebook cover designs). Also, when designing your new cover, make sure you don't interfere with the white text below.

I really like +HorrorNews.Net new website design... Don't know exactly when they updated it, but it shows that if you want to design a good horror website, you don't necessarily need it to have a dark background color :P
