Beautiful piece of work.

Mauna Kea Heavens Timelapse by Sean Goebel
"Timelapse of the observatories atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The summit is at an altitude of nearly 14,000 ft and is the premiere site for astronomy in the Northern Hemisphere. As an astronomy graduate student at the University of Hawaii, I've enjoyed excellent access to the facility."

"This montage was filmed on three nights in April (I was observing on one of the telescopes and would walk outside when things got boring) and four nights during summer 2013."

Anyone who enjoys night photography, and wants to sit at the feet if the master, owes it to themselves to get this ebook. Cover to cover full of useful information, intelligently presented.

I'm very excited to announce the release of my eBook! I have poured nearly everything I know about night photography into this book, it's not a bunch of fluff. This week you can get it for under $10, how's that for a deal? Go get it and let us know what you learned!

While it looks like I was slinging fire at the 134 year old covered bridge in Milton, WV, I assure you it was safe. This is what it looks like when you spin burning steel wool and take a 25 second exposure at night. Yes, the sparks hurt a little, but totally worth it for the effect.

I noticed this behavior in damselflies a few years ago and managed to get some video today. On mornings with a heavy dew, they scoot up a blade of grass, building a large drop of water. Then they manipulate it with their front set(s) of legs. I assume they are drinking from the water blob.

I have wanted to try my hand at concert photography for a while. Last night I was given the opportunity to work a Willie Nelson concert in my home town. I was amazed that this (almost) 80 year old star played for 90 minutes straight to a very happy crowd. Here is one from the show. I was fortunate enough to have full access and even spent a great deal of time leaning on the stage, snapping away.

What Is A Memory Worth ?

They tell us that a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is the case I've taken whole library's worth of photos, but what is a memory worth.\

I found this camera last week on Craigslist for $125.00. The person who sold it was not a photographer; his father purchased the camera new in the late 60's. I've recently had a re-kindling of my love for film. When I saw this ad, I pounced. Notice that the lens is a 55mm f/1.2, and what you cannot see is that this camera sat in it's case for the last 14 years. The previous owner was obviously VERY careful with his equipment-it is flawless. Ed Mika, from Canada, machines a replacement mount for this lens that will allow me to put it right on my 5D2. Ever since I met the man in his home to purchase this beauty I've considered some of the things he said. He told me "I can't tell you how many times my dad made me smile for this camera". This was the camera that captured his childhood. I'm ecstatic to own this camera and lens, and I will treasure them, but I can't stop wondering how someone can sell such an important part of their early life.

Maybe I'm just getting nostalgic with age, but I'm curious what thoughts others might have. Comments ?___

The second issue of Exposed magazine is out, and I'm thankful to be included. Thanks to +Nick Gatens +Levi Moore and +Geoff Yale for producing this amazing piece or work. I am honored.

Hello everyone - hope this Monday is finding you well! Your response to Issue #1 of Exposed absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way, and with that in mind, we've taken a little extra time to be sure to bring you the best possible magazine we can. We've made a few changes here and there since the first issue - you can read more about those in the editor's column this month - but the most notable change is a simple one that we think you'll be most excited about:

more photos

Issue #2 comes to you with ten more pages than Issue #1, and +Levi Moore, +Geoff Yale and I couldn't be any more proud to feature these amazing people and share their beautiful photography with you. Speaking of that, we'd also like to thank +suzanne clements for her gorgeous cover photograph as seen below!

And thanks again to each and every one of you who helped make this magazine what it is - from those of you who submitted content, made suggestions and downloaded the first issue. This absolutely wouldn't exist without you.

We hope you enjoy the magazine as much as we enjoy bringing it together, and the only thing we'll ask of you is that you take a moment and share this post and the magazine! Thank you and we hope you have a great day. =) ___The second issue of Exposed magazine is out, and I'm thankful to be included. Sorry about the late post. We are in a state of emergency in West Virginia with heavy storm damage. I am on my third day without electricity, but otherwise all is well. Here is my submission for my daily project. It is what happens when a spider needs a snack and a forktail damselfly wanders into the wrong web.
