Are there any Circuit Designers in this group of Electrical Engineers? I am trying to find Circuit Designers. I am under the impression that less and less engineers are actually designing these days. Do you design Analog, Digital, Power, Controls, Embedded Systems, RF circuits or a combination?

Hello and happy Thursday to you. Here I have an album of our latest build. I have a Canon 60D DSLR camera and a couple of lenses I am experimenting with.
Here are some images I took of Acoustas Melody M microphone system, plus a few inspirational photos.
What you are looking at is bran new accordion and button box microphone system. Or more accurately this is an active microphone array designed to pick up a sound field equally across a plane. It can pick up the sound field equally up to 20 inches long and 5 inches wide. For an accordion this is very important. It is a very exciting time because we are soon going to have the some new recording from amazing artists record with it. Currently I am working on a few other prototypes in this field and I wish to post them here to welcome questions, critique, suggestions or referrals.
If you enjoyed this entry I welcome (you) a... more »

Hello everyone hope your weekend is going smoothly.
Here is something I wanted to share that had design, engineering and manufacturing part of it. Recently I reached a good milestone in this project of making a very clean internal microphone for an accordion. This project was a tribute to my father who is one of the greatest accordion players and teachers in the world. As long as I can remember him his accordion was there too. He taught thousands of students to play. Lots of accordion music in my life.. From classical to Gogol Bordello. I set out to build the best possible microphone pickup for an accordion. After days of prototyping and fittings, countless recordings I ended up with a grid array or a full audio band pickup for the melody(Right Hand Side) and a single bass microphone for the cords and bass(Left Hand Side).
The pre amplifier is made so that about 1.3 inches ... more »

This is easily the craziest thing I've seen all week: a pink haired girl w/ black lipstick and leather playing accordian with a Brittany-style headset mic whilst stomping on a stomp box while two nuns clap along.

The First Scientific Best-Seller
Micrographia (1665) by Robert Hooke is known for inspiring public interest in microscopy, and for coining the use of the word cell as it's used in biology today. It's full of beautiful scientific illustrations, including the first description of a plant cell and a fly's eye.
"Hooke was the first scientist to examine fossils under the microscope and the first to note the similarities between living shells and fossil shells, which had up to then been considered a type of stone rather than a once-living organism....
More than 200 years before Darwin espoused the theory of evolution by natural selection, this remarkable man had discovered that changes in life on Earth were documented in the fossil record."
