A pretty epic pano from my walk up Killiney Hill last weekend! I was convinced when I was taking it that it wouldn't work out too well. The sky was so bright and I was using filters or bracketing the images I wasn't expecting there to be much shadow detail left! Things worked out for me though and I was easily able to bring back detail in the sky and the darker areas of the ground!

I decided it was time to finally see what's going on with the voting patterns so I put together some tools to harvest the data and see where it's all coming from. To say the results were interesting would be an understatement. As you can see the top results were quite surprising.

We had a great time yesterday at the #photowalkdonegal in Ballyliffin. The wind would knock you over but luckily the rain held off for the duration. Beautiful scenery and a great bunch of people to see it with.

NEW HASHTAG
Our old hashtag #moodymonday has become virtually unusable due to the large number of gif & cat posters who are probably not even aware of our theme.
I've held out as long as possible as we were here first but it's extremely difficult now to find genuine posts amongst all the crap.
So, from next week on, all people wishing to post to this theme, please use our new hashtag: #moodymondayphoto

Flagler's Folly
This is the Old Bahia Honda Bridge in the Florida Keys. It is what is left of a railroad project started by Henry Flagler. Flagler planned a railroad that would reach from Miami to Key West, spanning seven miles of open water. The Florida Overseas Railroad, begun in 1905 and derisively called "Flagler's Folly," would be his least successful endeavor. Hurricanes and torrential downpours stalled construction several times, and hundreds of men died in a 1906 storm. Completed in 1912, the bridge was, as predicted, a commercial failure, and in 1935 fell to a brutal Labor Day hurricane.

Castle Island
This tiny island has a fascinating history. Here's a potted version taken from realboyle.com
To this day, many wonder why the island is also referred to as "The Rock". Questions remain as to its origin. Some claim that the island is man-made, and was created on top of a large rock that projected above the waters of the lake just 100 metres from the south eastern shore of Lough Key. This theory says the island was created as an inhabited location or lake dwelling that could be easily defended against human and animal attackers, something similar to the Crannóg dwellings on neighbouring Lough Gara.
At some stage, a settlement was created on the island and a wooden structure built there. An early report says it was struck by lightning in 1187 and burned down.
