Do you try to gain the esteem of the world? Are you concerned what others think of you? Would you like to please crowds? I think we all would like to be well liked. But how far are you willing to go to gain acceptance?
These questions rose as I combined two very different writing prompts I received today: ‘remember’ and ‘crowd’. Not a very likely pair. But they got me thinking. What do we need to remember? Crowd pleasing is not a worthy goal for Jesus followers? Gaining the world is so not worth it? http://buff.ly/1iJlg50

Impatience seems to be the beginning of anxiety, right? Waiting for God's guidance and timing is not easy, especially when we have all kinds of wild thoughts racing through our mind. What are the next steps God wants me to take? Should I wait or proceed? How can I be sure I am not missing God's guidance? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/03/waiting-for-gods-guidance-and-timing.html

Isn't it amazing how God blesses us for merely following his guidance? You see, I felt God nudging me to do this random "Message in a Bottle" giveaway so I put it in the motion awhile back. Little did I know that this little giveaway would bless me so much. And I hope you will be blessed too. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/god-is-good-all-the-time.html

Hidden sins, anyone? Are your sins under the radar?
I have been praying that God would open my eyes to see my hidden sins. Those things that are not pleasing to God but I am unable to see myself. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/03/hidden-sins-anyone.html

Life does not have to be same old, same old over and over again. Your past can be buried and you can start anew and stop repeating same old, same old over and over again. Your future does not depend on your past but on the choices you make in the present. You can choose same old, same old over and over again. Or you can turn to God and follow his ways. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/turn-to-god-and-live.html

One of the really great things about Christianity is that God does not force us to do anything. God invites us and waits for willing hearts to follow his leading. How is your heart doing? Are you willinghearted?
I'd like to say yes. I desire to say yes. But when I read these words of Jesus I am left wondering. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/willinghearted.html

Even though the world around us is full of marks of death and dying we try deny our own mortality. We like to live in La-La Land and pretend we are not aging and our life will go on forever. But the sooner we face the reality: we are dust and we will return to dust, the better we can embrace living fully. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/02/you-are-dust.html

Time for spiritual renewal is here: Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (today). Lent is an opportunity to imitate Jesus as he fasted forty days in the desert. Lent is an opportunity to make room for God in our lives and get closer to him. Even Jesus did not say if you fast, he said when you fast.

Don't let the fear of religious rituals keep you away from experiencing the blessings of Lent! The fear is needed to keep us on toes when it comes to practicing piety. There are great dangers in empty religious rituals. But the solution is not to keep away. We are not to throw away the baby with the bath water! The solution is to embrace them with God. The solution is to be a friend of grace! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/03/how-to-keep-works-out-of-lent.html

Spiritual exercise is necessary for robust spiritual health. There is no way around it. Any muscle that goes unused becomes weak. Any faith that does not get exercised becomes weak. So what are you waiting for? You even have your own spiritual trainer, the Holy Spirit, available 24/7. Let's continue our journey towards a strong spiritual immune system. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/the-spiritual-immune-system-part-4.html

Faith is not an abstract idea. Nor it is a passive acceptance of certain set of beliefs. Faith is not merely a matter of eternity, either. Faith is God in action within us now. Faith is God changing us inside out. And then we are sent to live out our faith in our communities. Because faith needs to be lived and shared. That way it becomes visible.

Do you avoid choosing? Do you push decision-making as far as possible? Or do you like everything settled, clear and precise? I've learned of myself that I want to keep my options open until I am 100% sure that my decision is the right one. But rarely do we have that kind of certainty in life, do we? We have to choose even when we don't have all the information in whether we like it or not. What to do then? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/the-sacred-art-of-decision-making.html

What's your goal in life?
Mine is to become a woman after God's own heart.
I can't do it.
But God can.
Ready to join me in the quest?

You know that faith is a gift from God. You can't earn it, you can just receive it. Just as spiritual gifts in general, also faith is inspired and brought to pass by one and the same Holy Spirit. If you have had the pleasure to receive the gift of faith....what are you doing with it? Does it brighten your days? Do you glow for Christ? Is it time to rekindle your faith? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/rekindle-your-faith.html

Did you know that the word for “priest” in Latin is pontifex which means “bridge builder”? Jesus is the bridge builder from humans to God. If we want to get to God, we must cross over the bridge Jesus has built. http://buff.ly/1bImyhH

Somehow we humans want to be better than we are. We'd like to be perfect. But we are not. There's no one without fault. "There's not one totally good person on earth, Not one who is truly pure and sinless." (Ecc. 7:20, MSG) God knows this. That's why he sent Christ to the world. So we would have a way back to him. Because we could never make it on our own. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/02/no-need-to-fake-it.html

We need courage to dare to be all the God called us to be. God has given certain gifts so we could shine for him. We need to put them in good use. We are not to hide our light or our voice from the world. And we are not to play small either, that does not serve anyone. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/pointers-for-finding-your-voice.html

Disappointments are part of life. There will always be some sort of disappointments along the way. If we expect no hardships we will always be disappointed and might even become bitter. Anytime you start doubting, go back to your Bible. Anytime your feelings tell you that there is no way out, take your Bible out. Anytime you want to be assured by God’s amazing love check out some of the Bible verses that include these two little words “but God”. They’re small words but they declare God’s powerful ways to operate in this world in a big way! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/but-god-can.html

We were created to live in a relationship with God. That’s our natural state. Everything else is forceful living. Thankfully God sent Jesus to provide us way back to God. Now we can again have peace with God through Jesus. The more we abide in God the Father, the more we learn to trust him. Then, one day, we realize our Heavenly Father is our fortress and we know that we will not be shaken. Then God is indeed our best spiritual immune system. http://buff.ly/1moi84p

Following Christ is about…
…serving God with everything we’ve got.
…loving the people sends into our lives.
…letting the Holy Spirit change us inside out.
…saying ‘yes’ when God asks us to do something.
…putting God first, everything else second.

Valentine's Day is celebrated in Finland as Friends' Day. In some ways I think it captures the heart of Valentine's Day even better when it does not exclude all but romantic love. And having friends is one of the best things in life. So worth of celebrating. But just think what it would be to be friends with Jesus? And that's exactly what Jesus wants to be with us. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/friends-with-jesus.html

God loves you more than you can ever know. Like Augustine has said “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us”. You are the apple of God’s eye! How wonderful is that!? Embrace it! Celebrate it! Share it! Here’s God’s love letter just for you!

Now is the flu season. The best way to avoid catching a cold is to boost your immune system. What do you think? Do we need to also have a spiritual immune system? I think so. Faith is about putting our trust in God. For a long time I thought it was just about putting my salvation in the hands of God. But it's about putting my whole life - everything in me- in God's hands. Do you have any idea how much God cares for you? Because God's love for you is boundless. God went to great lengths to make a way for us to get back to him. But even that's not all. God wants to care for you right now, right where you are. God cares for you more than you ever know. No matter what you've done or left undone. You are loved. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/god-cares.html

Is glass half full or half empty? They say your answer depends on your outlook of life. But as Christians our life does not depend on us or our outlook on life. Our cup is always full. Because our life depends on God and the Holy Spirit fills the portion that is empty. http://buff.ly/MAaUdf

Why do you pray? Is prayer necessary? What do you think? God knows everything already anyway. Why should we take time to pray then? What's the point of prayer after all? Good questions. Why do you think God wants us to pray? God does not need our list of demands or concerns, that's true. So why would he want us to pray? He must know we need prayer for some other reasons. What could they be? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/is-prayer-necessary.html

One of the most exciting things in a life of a Christian is to search for God’s guidance. Sometimes it can also be very frustrating. Human beings can make plans but God will decide whether and when something will happen. But because we desire God’s will, we would not want it any other way. But how to live by faith when life is frustrating? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/how-to-live-by-faith.html

s it hard to believe that God is more interested in you than what you do? That God is more interested in who you are becoming than what you are getting done? Do you feel inadequate to be God's disciple? Are you struggling with insecurities? Today's post is for you. Here's what Paul wrote to Timothy from jail. Suddenly Timothy had to take up a primary leadership role and he felt inadequate and maybe a bit terrified of the size of the task waiting for him. Then he receives this letter from Paul reminding him of a very encouraging fact in all of our lives. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/02/by-the-power-of-god.html

A life filled with harmony, peace, and love is something we all want. And, yet, we can't quite achieve it. Because harmony, peace, and love are by-products of living well, not things we can force to appear. But how could we live the way these things would naturally appear? How could we live in love? How could we create life full of faith, hope, and love? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/01/how-to-live-in-love.html

Do you have heroes of faith? Or do you have a faith-filled role model who preaches the gospel (also) without the words? Good for you. My heroes of faith are people who have God's image imprinted on their hearts. They are people who let God into their lives and have learned to bask in his love and care. They've learned to listen to God and trust him no matter of what. How about you? What's imprinted on your heart? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/what-is-imprinted-on-your-heart.html

God is holy. What does it mean? Holy in Hebrew, qadosh, literally means "to be set apart". So God is something else! God is distinct from anything and everything. God is totally different from us. Is it wrong to have fun and enjoy life? Is it okay to love life? Is joyful living a sin? We are not to love the world or things of the world but we are to love life and the Giver of Life. Loving life is the best thank you we can give to the Giver of Life. We are to love life and live our lives with thankful and joyful hearts. Do you blame yourself for past mistakes? Do you insist on labeling yourself as a loser? Are you stuck in a rut?
It's time to wake up to see yourself with God's eyes.
It's time to embrace the freedom of Christ.
It's time to believe the good news of forgiveness and renewal.
It's time to let the bygones be bygones.
It's time to move on into new life with God.

Have you changed a lot in the last 10 years? I bet you have. So have I. Do you think you will change as much in the future? Do you know that you're called to be a saint? For real. Right now and right here. How do I know? I read it in my Bible. When we've been cleaned up by Jesus, we are also set apart for a God-filled life. The question is: how is God calling each of us to be a saint today?

One of the most important life lessons is to learn to deal with disappointments. They are part of life and we need to learn to deal with them in order to live well. If we don't...well, we become bitter and do not live well. When other people disappoint us, we get frustrated. When we disappoint ourselves, we get depressed. And when circumstances work against us, we get discouraged. How could we learn to stay hope-filled in the midst of disappointments? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/01/despite-disappointments.html
