On Mondays I'm blogging through Mary DeMuth‘s and Frank Viola‘s brand new book The Day I Met Jesus: The revealing diaries of five women in the gospels. The woman of the third diary is found in John 4:1-42. It's the story of the Samaritan woman meeting Jesus at the well. This encounter at the well is the longest personal conversation reported in the gospels. It gives us all hope. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/the-living-water.html

Do you know what to do when you've lost that loving feeling? The answer is not to give up. Feelings come and go. The answer is simple yet profound and it totally works. The answer is to pray, to ask for what you need. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/lost-that-loving-feeling.html

God is so good. God's Word is so good. Any time I open it, I am in awe of God's loving kindness. I am not surprised God is taking care of me. That's his promise for all of us. I am now days expecting it and looking forward to it. But I am always surprised how he does it. How simply, how effortlessly, how gently he does it. How easily he refreshes me. What would it take for you to take a risk of faith? What would it take to get you out of your comfort zone and into an adventure of faith? These are the questions that have been running through my head as I've been reading the fourth diary in Mary DeMuth‘s and Frank Viola‘s brand new book The Day I Met Jesus: The reavealing diaries of five women in the gospels.http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/ready-for-a-risk-of-faith.html

We are entering into the Holy Week by celebrating Palm Sunday by remembering the day Jesus rode to Jerusalem to fulfill his destiny. While doing so Jesus fulfilled also the prophecies of the Old Testament.
Where are you in this picture? Why do you wave palms? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/04/why-do-you-wave-palms.html

Spring seems to be late this year.
Yet we hope.
The same way the second coming of Jesus seems to be delayed.
Yet we hope.
What can we do while we are waiting? Prepare!
When the spring weather will finally reach the north, it will be sudden.
When Jesus finally comes back, it will also be sudden.
We need to prepared.
How can we do that?
It's time for spiritual spring cleaning!

As we approach the Holy Week, it is time to do some self examination. Are we disobedient, slow to repent, full of doubt? Even just on a small scale? We might think the small things do not matter. Who cares about the minor stuff? Well, God does. Because, in many ways, it is a matter of life and death. It does not look like it. But as Richard Foster has put it "the battle is won or lost precisely in the trifling areas of life."

Do you know the real Self of our heavenly father? Because of Jesus, you are free to get to know God personally. Don't miss this opportunity. Pray all your excuses to disappear. Pray that you will have an urge to spend more time with God. There's nothing quite like it than be on a first name basis with God Almighty! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/on-a-first-name-basis.html

Here is a spiritual principle: We cannot exercise love unless we are experiencing grace. You cannot truly love others unless you are convinced that God’s love for you is unconditional, based solely on the merit of Christ, not on your performance. Our love, either to God or to others, can only be a response to His love for us. http://buff.ly/1FIq8EF

We truly need to meet Jesus every day of our lives. Because he is the only one who can save us from ourselves. Jesus is the only one who can pour out grace upon grace on us. Only when we are grace-filled, we are ready to meet the world with God's love. And that's the Jesus way to live. Time to leave self-righteousness at the foot of the cross?  http://buff.ly/1LiQthy

Too often Christians are so busy running their lives that they forget God. They forget that God exists and wants to be part of their lives. Even if they say they are Christians, they practice the absence of God. They forget what it is to revel in the presence of God. Hence, they live under their privileges as children of God. Is that you? Now it’s time to turn back to God and start practicing the presence of God. I’ll show you how. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/presence-of-god.html

Impatience seems to be the beginning of anxiety, right? Waiting for God's guidance and timing is not easy, especially when we have all kinds of wild thoughts racing through our mind. What are the next steps God wants me to take? Should I wait or proceed? How can I be sure I am not missing God's guidance? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/03/waiting-for-gods-guidance-and-timing.html

Do you desire to have peace of mind? I think we all do. When we have peace of mind, we are happy. It is that wonderful feeling when you know all is well and all is going to be all right. But how to have it in the midst of every day chaos? How to have it as the world gets tougher day by day? How to have peace of mind when it seems all we have is the opposite? Is peace of mind even possible any more?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/peace-mind.html

Do you need constant renewal? I certainly do. Yesterday's grace and peace won't work today. I need my daily refill in order to live out of love and not out of fear. If you don't trust my word on it, follow Jesus' example. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/03/constant-renewal-the-jesus-way.html

Have you met Jesus? Do you know what it is like to be experiencing grace? God's love is not superficial but real and life-changing. When we meet Jesus personally, we are changed. We are seen as we are and loved beyond measure. Loved so truly that we melt in his hands. We are redeemed and restored and released to live fully in Him.

I was able to pet a python this past week. It was exciting. A lady in the group thought it felt like a handbag but I wouldn't go that far. It felt more like a fabric made of very soft nails. Anyhow, I learned that in order to allow continual growth, snakes need to shed their skins regularly. This got me thinking. Should we shed our spiritual skin in order to ensure continual spiritual growth? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/03/shed-spiritual-skin.html

The elements of a great life are not what people usually think. Neither a designer hand bag nor the latest technological gadget will bring happiness. And finding a spouse or having a child are not necessary elements of a great life, either. What then?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/03/the-elements-of-a-great-life.html

I am always excited when a new Biblical book is born. This week we are truly blessed by Mary DeMuth‘s and Frank Viola‘s brand new book The Day I Met Jesus. This book is simply amazing. Mary DeMuth’s writing is real, raw, authentic, organic…you experience these women’s stories like never before. And then Frank Viola helps you to dig even deeper into the story. You will never think of the stories the same way again. http://buff.ly/17PUiIX ‎#DayIMetJesus

Do you believe that God is good and every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above (James 1:17, CEB)? If you have hard time believing this, you need to know Daniel's secret to a happy life.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/03/the-secret-to-a-happy-life.html

Are you serving out of love? Or are you helping people because you expect a praise or a reward? Do you ask like Jesus “What do you want me to do?” Or is your motivation based on what you can get out of the situation/relationship? It’s time for a motivation check-up. Why do you serve? Or should I ask: Who do you serve?

There's one piece of advice that is always valid: visit with Jesus. As often as you do it, you are blessed. The life of a disciple is about visiting with Jesus. What does it mean? It means we are sitting at Jesus' feet talking, laughing, crying, listening, being with Jesus. This is not just a once a week occurrence. And it should not even be just a once a day happening. We should go back and forth all day long. Once we are recharged and filled with the Holy Spirit, we are ready to go out to serve others.

No matter what is going on in your life: Don’t worry! God has the last word. Let’s cling on the promises of the Bible and believe that there really is light at the end of the tunnel! Nothing is a surprise to God.
Nothing is unknown to God.
Nothing is hidden from God.

It is hard to trust God so much that without him we'd be lost. It is hard to depend on God so completely that without him we'd be nothing. Because that scares us. What will happen if we are no longer in control? Could it actually be something good? What if that would be the beginning of great things in your life? Would you dare? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/not-by-might-nor-by-power.html ‎

Would you dare? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/not-by-might-nor-by-power.html ‎___

Lent is a good time for some spiritual spring cleaning. Sometimes we think Christ is in the center of our lives but when we let the Holy Spirit examine us we might be surprised.
We tend to forget that we are called to be Christ-like.
We tend to worship our own comfort more than Christ.
We tend to get spiritually lazy hence there might be a lot of cobwebs all over our soul. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/christ-in-the-center.html

Do you wait to give to God until you have something substantial to give? Maybe you're missing the miraculous living. Maybe you're missing the blessings. What do I mean, you ask. Let me explain. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/every-little-thing.html

Do you know how to get through the impossible? It's not a question about planning or working hard. It's a question of knowing Who does the work through you. It's God's work to get through the impossible, not yours. Your part is still important though. Here are three steps to show you how to get through the impossible. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/through-the-impossible.html ‎

Disappointments are part of life. There will always be some sort of disappointments along the way. If we expect no hardships we will always be disappointed and might even become bitter. The trick here is to learn what to do with disappointments. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/how-to-handle-disappointments.html

Sometimes life is tough and we get tired of fighting or waiting for good things to happen. And we kind of forget whose we are. We start acting like turkeys instead of eagles who we really are. We start acting like people without hope instead of people of God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/keep-wings.html

What do you think? Is holiness old-fashioned? Fasting during the Lent is (for most Christians) a voluntary thing. But too often we think all the discipline and growing in grace is optional, too. Even if you are not interested in hidden blessings hidden through discipline, you are called to be holy like God is holy. Holiness is not voluntary. It is the new normal for children of God. http://buff.ly/1yQzjvG

This post is for all of you who are waiting on the Lord and on the verse of getting tired of waiting. This post is for you who is complaining that God has lost track of you. This post is for you who thinks God does not care about you anymore. Just read these verses from the Message and let the Holy Spirit minister to your heart. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/god-lasts.html

God loves you more than you can ever know. Like Augustine has said “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us”. You are the apple of God’s eye! How wonderful is that!? Embrace it! Celebrate it! Share it! Here’s God’s love letter just for you! http://buff.ly/1B8O1EX

Do you know what to do when you've lost that loving feeling? The answer is not to give up. Feelings come and go. The answer is simple yet profound and it totally works. The answer is to pray, to ask for what you need. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/lost-that-loving-feeling.html

God is working in the present. If we live either in our past or in the future, we don't meet God. Because God is the great I AM. Not I WAS. Or I WILL BE. (Even though he has always been and will always be.) But right now he can only be found in the present. That's why being present enables us to meet God. And other people. And even ourselves. That's why the best gift is to be present. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/the-best-gift-is-to-be-present.html

God is love, right? Just like the Bible tells us. But that's not the end of the story. Actually, that opens up everything.
We are called to live in love. First with God, then with everyone else.
If we do so, it changes everything. If we don't, we loose everything.
How come?

Do you know how to let go of bad habits? From my own experience I know that self-help does not work, right? So what to do? Are we doomed? The only way we can live righteously is to be IN Christ. On our own we are doomed. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/02/how-to-let-go-of-bad-habits.html

Jesus tells us to love everyone even when someone gives us a hard time. We are encouraged to respond with the energies of prayer. Not with our own strength but with the energies of God. There’s a huge difference! We can’t be loving on our own. But when we are filled with God’s grace, we can respond with love.

Today I've been touched by two, very short Bible passages. They affirm my dedication to seek God and all the good things in life. This life style does not leave me short-changed. This life style leads into the real life. And not just any kind of life - but glorious life! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/02/seeking-the-real-life.html

Do you know that you're called to zealous prayer life? For real. We are all called not just to pray once in awhile but to have zealous prayer life. Prayer is a gift from God to us. Just think about having a direct prayer line to God Almighty! Pretty awesome!! We are called to be faithful in prayer and to pray without ceasing. http://ow.ly/Iiw7D

Fully grasping the depth of God’s love is most likely out of our reach. I think God’s love is so endless that we just don’t have the capacity to fully know it. Or, at least, it is a life-long process.Even just getting a small glimpse of God’s love leaves us awestruck. God so loved the world, each and everyone of us, that he gave his only son that no one would perish. That’s the bottom line of God’s love. There is no way we could ever top that. God’s love is the ultimate love.

This is just a short but sweet reminder to not forget Jesus. Because Jesus is the key to all the locks. Jesus is the answer to all the questions. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. According to Jesus "No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6, CEB). That's why I have to ask: How long has it been that you've confessed that Jesus is the Son of God? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/jesus-key.html

It feels awful when you are not heard. It undermines your core being and it does not feel good. At all. But even though other people don't value us or listen to us we have someone who always does. And that is Jesus. If he is our rock, no one can erode our foundation. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/listen-to-god.html

I have always thought that we should only serve one God and we should not have idols. God should be number one in our lives. I had thought those possible idols would be other people or work or hobbies, somebody or something else than me. But then I read this from Isaiah.... http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/01/what-is-on-your-agenda.html

Do you know how to be dressed in readiness? Then I want to hear from you. My word for the year 2015 is 'readiness' and I am trying to figure out what readiness means for me and how I could practice it more fully.  We are called to be dressed in readiness. We are all called to be ready for Jesus. But readiness for Jesus means more than 'just' being saved. And that's what I will be exploring this year.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2015/01/dressed-in-readiness.html

Do you feel that you are at the end of your rope? Don't worry. As Woodrow Kroll points out "our quitting point is God's beginning point". When we are finished trying to manage on our own, God can step in. Every morning I do plea for new mercy and fresh courage. Because there is no going without God's grace. And guess what? God is happy to pour out new mercy and fresh courage for all of us! http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/01/new-mercy-fresh-courage.html
