The metaphor of the vine and the branches is very powerful. It emphasizes the importance of being organically connected to God. It reminds us that our aliveness is totally dependent on Gods grace. It gives us a chance to be part of Gods kingdom work here and now. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/the-vine-and-the-branches.html

Last week our seven year old son said something after the Lords Prayer that I have been thinking ever since. It was nothing earth-shattering but profoundly true nonetheless. He said that the Lords Prayer was a practical prayer. Indeed! I just had never thought about it that way. Jesus wanted us to pray practical prayers. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/prayer-is-practical.html

The people who were listening to the disciples witnessing boldly on the first Christian Pentecost were asking What does this mean? (Acts 2:12, CEB) The very same question should be on our lips this Pentecost. What could this mean? Find out at http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/05/what-does-pentecost-mean.html (re-post)

Are you at a dead end?
Are you tied to the mundane?
Do you miss God in your life?
What keeps you from enjoying Gods presence?
Because God has not moved.
God has not cancelled his promises.
God has not changed his mind.
Gods love is forever the same.

The Bible is thousands of years old yet it still speaks to us today. Personally. The Holy Spirit reads us as we read the Word of God. And the Holy Spirit guides us as we read it. This is what makes the Bible special. But it only happens when we approach it prayerfully. That's why some people cant understand why Christians still cherish it. It is not just a book. It is the Living Word of God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/the-living-word.html

There must be something really special about putting God’s word in practice if we need to guard it with our lives! Yes, there is. Life flows from it! From here to eternity!

Where are you? Are you ashamed, addicted, alienated? Or are you trapped, anxious or defeated? Or powerless, hopeless or frustrated? I have good news for you. You don't have to be stuck in the mud. You can be accepted, valued and loved. You can be healed, strengthened and empowered. You can overcome. Not on your own. But by Gods grace. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/strength-in-weakness.html

God is calling us to live, love, and dance in his grace. Do we act like Pharisees and sit out? Because the word Pharisee literally means the separated one. A pharisee was meant to be separated from sin. And that itself was a good thing. But sometimes a good thing can separate us from the main thing. Like Dietrich Bonhoeffer has said Being a Christan is less about cautiously avoiding sin than about courageously & actively doing Gods will. We are called to do Gods will, live in his presence, and dance in his grace. Read more at http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/05/dancing-in-grace.html (re-post)

I’ve never felt comfortable writing a Mother’s Day post. And even this is mostly an unlikely one. I have a terrific mom and I love being a mom. But my heart goes out for anyone who would (have) like(d) to be a mom and isn’t. I don’t feel comfortable boasting about my blessings. The only thing I want to boast about is God’s grace. Life is not about blessings. Life is about passing on grace. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/be-fruitful-for-christ.html

Whats the point of the Ascension Day? The Ascension Day is the day when Jesus was taken up to heaven 40 days after the resurrection. Why would we be excited about Jesus leaving us? Without the happenings of the Ascension Day the salvation plan of God would not have progressed. Jesus had to go away so he could come back. What are the blessings of the Ascension Day then? Did you know that Living God is mentioned fourteen times both in the Old and New testament? 28 times we are reminded that God is not a sentimental idea or a lofty philosophy. God is a living person who wants to lovingly interact with us. We are children of the Living God! How awesome is that? Apart from God we are nothing. Even if wed like to think otherwise. Apart from God we don't even know who we really are. Apart from God we are completely and utterly lost. Do you believe in the power of prayer? Or do you think that Jesus promised too much for us? He told his disciples that God will give them whatever they ask in Jesus name. And, yet, we don't get everything we ask, right?
How come we don't get everything we ask for? Why did Jesus promise this if he cant keep it? Excellent questions. And we need to know the answers before we can fully trust God and pray believingly. Does prayer work? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/05/does-prayer-work.html

We can rest assured that God is not playing games with us. Even if we are playing games with him. If we feel distant from God it is not God who has moved away. It is our own doing. If we feel that God is not answering our prayers it is not God who is not speaking to us. It is us turning a deaf ear to God. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/05/god-does-not-play-games.html (re-post)

Fear is one of the most awful things in the world. When we live out of fear, life is not what its meant to be. Fear cripples us. Fear steals the joy of living. Fear paralyzes our inner beings. How do you define a full life? Is it about success, happiness, wealth? Or something different all together? A full life in Jesus gives us a few surprises. Gods blessings are not material ones or self-centered happiness in general. God wants to give us a full life even in parched places. But it doesn't happen without change. We are children of God and God loves every one of us. God loves not just our Sunday best but every part of us. He doesn't divide us into the loveable and the unlovable parts. He just loves us. It really does sound too good to be true. Gods love is astonishing but nonetheless true. He created us and loves what he created. There's nothing he would not do for us. Sometimes we are so stuck in the mud that we cant even believe any more that life could be any different. Beware! Thats one of the favorite messages of our enemy. The devil wants us to believe that change is not possible, that God would not take us as we are, that everything is lost. But everything is not lost! God welcomes us just as we are! Accepting help is sometimes very hard. We are supposed to be independent and manage on our own, right? Hence it is terrifying to admit that we do need help, at least, once in awhile. We would like to be perfect and self-sufficient. Maybe that's pride talking because we were created to live together. That's why practicing giving and receiving help creates community and it paves a way for Christ to enter our hearts and minds. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/05/take-the-mercy-accept-the-help.html (re-post)

God sees our troubles and weaknesses. Yet her cares for us. God knows we are needy and helpless. Yet he seeks us and wants to help us. God sees and loves not only the perfect and strong ones but also the crippled and unsteady ones. God gives each of us what we need. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment. God sees us individually, not just our appearances but our very soul. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2013/04/god-cares-for-you.html

I've always thought that life with God is life in colors and life without God is life in black and white. Many people insist that life in black and white is cool. And it might appear so but once you've experience life in color you would never go back into living God-colorless life.
