Do you know what is the purpose of Easter? The purpose of the resurrection of Jesus is to set you free. God arranged this for you. Christ died and was resurrected for you. So you could be truly free from your transgressions and live in God's grace. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/04/the-purpose-of-easter.html

I do admit it right away: The resurrection of Jesus Christ sounds crazy. It's absolutely foolish for our rational minds. It is hard to fathom that God the Father raised God the Son from the dead. But God the Spirit awakens us to believe

Haven't you heard? Christ is risen! And that changes everything. If Jesus had not risen, we would be still dead in our sin. If Jesus had not risen, we would still be without a chance for reconciliation with God. If Jesus had not risen, we would be without living hope. But because Jesus is risen, we have a living hope. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/04/living-hope.html

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Yes, alleluia! But what does it mean, right? What does it mean to you when you are struggling to make ends meet? What does it mean to you who is just beginning to understand God's love for you? What does it mean when God seems to be silent? What does it mean here and now? Good Friday holds a deep meaning in the life of a Christian. It is a passover from death to life. This came through Jesus' death on the cross. But how could this event have such a huge impact on the lives of Christians? http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/04/a-passover-from-death-to-life.html

Jesus lived his life sacrificially and we are called to do the same. Also our lives need to be taken, blessed, broken, and given to others. What could this mean? How can these words of Jesus help us to understand what sacrificial living really is all about?  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2012/04/the-words-of-sacrifice.html

Have you accepted the reality of your sinfulness? Are you willing to admit that because of you Jesus died on the cross? We would like to think we are not sinners. We would like to think it's not our fault that Jesus died on the cross. But we could not be further from the truth. If we do not accept this fact, we are living in a lie. Then we either live in denial or despair. But we do have another option. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/04/accepting-need-christ.html

On Monday of Holy week Christians traditionally read and contemplate on Jesus praying in Gethsemane. Luke concentrates on Jesus' prayer and not on the failings of the disciples. Let's see if there are any blessings hidden in the story. Let see what we can learn from Jesus' agony in Gethsemane. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/04/what-can-we-learn-from-jesus-agony-in-gethsemane.html

How is your prayer life? Do you know you are called to pray? You know, Martin Luther has said "As is the business of tailors to make clothes and cobblers to make shoes, so it is the business of Christians to pray."
It is our business to pray.
It is our duty to pray.
It is our calling to pray.

Today I want to talk about something we very easily want to forget or, at least, downplay its importance in a life of a Christian. But the Bible does not want us to forget. If we want to mature in our faith, we need to be done with every trace of wickedness. The Word of God wants us to keep on growing to full maturity. Getting rid of all ill will is part of growing in faith. http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/getting-rid-of-all-ill-will.html ‎

o you know why we try so hard to hide our wounds? It almost feels like being vulnerable and real would be the end of the world. Like the real life would be only deserved for beautiful, perfect and unbroken. But that's so, so wrong. First of all, there's beauty in brokenness. Second of all, blessings come through wounds. Not by avoiding or hiding them. But by embracing them. Really.  http://www.flowingfaith.com/2014/03/blessings-come-through-wounds.html ‎

One of the important decisions in life is to choose how we frame our life. Because our focus leads us to choose the elements that will define and refine us. Do we frame the troubles and disastrous elements of our lives? Or do we frame the grace of God and joys of the Lord? The choice is ours. Do we want the troubles and hardships to define us? Or do we let God define us? Read more at http://www.flowingfaith.com/2011/03/framing-your-life-god-goals-guidance.html

Lent is a wonderful time to really examine where we are in our walk with God. Not to condemn ourselves but to help ourselves to be where we could be. Because it is our own loss if we are not enjoying a truly intimate relationship with God. It is our loss if we are not close to Jesus. Do you know how to keep joy? How to be always joyful? Happiness seems to come and go. In order to be happy we want more of things that used to make us happy. More stuff, more experiences, more fun. Always more. But that thrill-seeking leads us astray. Happiness-hunting gets us into trouble. More is never enough. It is a cycle to unhappiness. Many of us claim that we want to do God's will in our lives. We aim to listen to God's voice and seek his guidance. But do we really hear God? Do we put his wisdom in practice? Do we let God's message transform us? Or do we edit God? Do we select what we hear?
Do we embrace God as he is? Or do we strip down God from attributes that disturb us? Do we dishonor God by deleting some parts of his message in our minds? Do we try to make God an idol we can manipulate?  http://buff.ly/1dfcnlT

It seems like this same old problem has been around since forever: people want to be like everybody else. The root cause for disobedience is the desire to be accepted and admired by others. Just like the Israelites were hoping to be like the other nations. But it's not just the Israelites who want to be like the other nations. It is us today, right this minute, wanting to be like everybody else, wanting to worship gods we can control. http://ow.ly/uK32k

I've always loved the Finnish flag - a blue cross on white - because it so boldly states our faith in the risen Christ. But I also love the Irish shamrock. According to St. Patrick's Day lore, Patrick used the three leaves of a shamrock to explain the Christian holy trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Do you try to gain the esteem of the world? Are you concerned what others think of you? Would you like to please crowds? I think we all would like to be well liked. But how far are you willing to go to gain acceptance?

These questions rose as I combined two very different writing prompts I received today:  ‘remember’ and ‘crowd’. Not a very likely pair. But they got me thinking. What do we need to remember? Crowd pleasing is not a worthy goal for Jesus followers? Gaining the world is so not worth it? http://buff.ly/1iJlg50

Time for spiritual renewal is here: Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (today). Lent is an opportunity to imitate Jesus as he fasted forty days in the desert. Lent is an opportunity to make room for God in our lives and get closer to him. Even Jesus did not say if you fast, he said when you fast.

Faith is not an abstract idea. Nor it is a passive acceptance of certain set of beliefs. Faith is not merely a matter of eternity, either. Faith is God in action within us now. Faith is God changing us inside out. And then we are sent to live out our faith in our communities. Because faith needs to be lived and shared. That way it becomes visible.

Do you avoid choosing? Do you push decision-making as far as possible? Or do you like everything settled, clear and precise? I've learned of myself that I want to keep my options open until I am 100% sure that my decision is the right one. But rarely do we have that kind of certainty in life, do we? Somehow we humans want to be better than we are. We'd like to be perfect. But we are not. There's no one without fault. "There's not one totally good person on earth, Not one who is truly pure and sinless." (Ecc. 7:20, MSG) God knows this. That's why he sent Christ to the world. So we would have a way back to him.
