7,000 votes can change a person's life. It's free and takes 30 seconds.
My name is Donna Bell. I live in Denham Springs, La. I’m 49 years old. I was in one car accident, June 28, 1979. I was 15, the wreck left me a quadriplegic C3-C4. Unable to move from the shoulders down.
I have never had a powered wheelchair, because of the cost of a lift and van. I have had only a manual wheelchair with my family lifting in and out of the car.
Only since I’ve been paralyzed I have taught myself how to draw and crochet, by mouth, with the encouragement of family and friends.
I would very much appreciate your vote

My two-week review of Google Glass: it all depends on the price
This week I gave five speeches while wearing it.
I passed through airports four times (two more in a couple of hours).
I let hundreds of people try my Google Glass.
I have barely taken it off since getting it other than to sleep.
Here's my review after having Google Glass for two weeks:
1. I will never live a day of my life from now on without it (or a competitor). It's that significant.
2. The success of this totally depends on price. Each audience I asked at the end of my presentations "who would buy this?" As the price got down to $200 literally every hand went up. At $500 a few hands went up. This was consistent, whether talking with students, or more mainstream, older audiences.
3. Nearly everyone had an emotional outburst of "wow" or ... more »

Blackberry Song
Heard the ad song sounding like the Beatles? Sounds better as a sound byte, but it catches the ear. Notice the bass guitar.

Oftentimes when I look at the HDR manipulation of photos posted online, I think about this DeMotivation poster. Don't get me wrong: I don't hate HDR. It's essentially an extension of the Ansel Adams's Zone System, exposing for the shadows, developing for the highlights to bring the limited range of film closer to approximating the range of gradations that our eye can see.
That ability has been distorted to an extent that surpasses plausibility. Stieglitz once took up the challenge to photograph an envelope in total darkness without a light source. He succeeded. Today's Photoshop cowboys would add a rainbow spectrum with pulsating 3D strokes in burlap texture around an envelope wearing a garter belt made of shrimp, vignetted.
Just because you are able to do something doesn't mean you should. Art is art, you are free to do whatever you want to. If there are 25... more »
