I am always behind on shows since I take full advantage of our DVR's.  One major advantage is I can watch when I want and can often catch multiple episodes at once.  The disadvantage is I can't participate in live or next day sessions commenting on the shows.  There are some exceptions, like Game of Thrones where I enjoy it too much not to catch it on the night it airs.  So this post comes late in regards to timeliness.  

With that being said, I am enjoying Sons of Anarchy as much as I ever have.  This show has such good writing and there are few sacred cows in regards to characters and the way they're treated.  Finally, it has an aspect that is prevalent in most of my favorite shows...characters are rarely good or bad, they just are doing things they think are best for them.  It is a consistent trait from The Wire and Games of Thrones.

I was speaking with one of my friends who is an ultra-right conservative and the subject of education came up.  After our conversation he admitted that it never occurred to him that there would be any kids in America that did not see the possibility of college in their future.  We have chosen not to view other people's reality's for too long, particularly in the area of education and the impact that rising costs for post secondary schooling has had on our nation.  

The following article does an excellent job of showing the positive results that occur when children have assurance that if they get accepted to a school, tuition will not be a pressing concern.  Tests get better, residents stay longer and over time, I think the community will evolve positively.  

We need to understand that education can help us become a better nation if we increase the number of kids/people whocan ... more »

Just came back from dropping my son off for his sophomore year in college, hit major traffic and storms coming out of the DMV...I have to thank Garmin for helping me navigate past all the traffic and taking me through some interesting back roads in Baltimore.  Seriously, Garmin was a major plus tonight!

Watching Tombstone tonight and marveling in Val Kilmer's performance for about the 30th time.  Even if you hate westerns, this is a movie you should watch to see how solid acting can really impact a movie's quality.  Almost every actor brought their "A" game, especially Powers Boothe, Kurt Russell and Sam Waterson acting beyond his mustache.
