The teenager allegedly bought marijuana, was pursued by the police, into has grandmother house, where one police officer shot the boy dead in the bathroom. The boy was unarmed, but the one who shot him, thought he was armed, because he had been told that by other police. A grand jury was not told this last fact, so because of that, a judge threw out the grand jury decision that the killing was manslaughter. Those other cops have not been charged with doing anything wrong.

No right is absolute.
We do not have the freedom of speech to yell FIRE in a crowded theater, if there is no fire. When questioned by the police, we have to tell them who we are, we cannot withhold our identity. But not everyone knows the limits of the rights. Many know the basic rights, but not all the nuances.

Police response, to a water balloon fight, was excessive.
A student, not involved in the fight, was attacked by the police, and severely injured. A parent, who witnessed the police assault, went to complain to the Principal about the police brutality, was arrested for trespassing in the school.
Seven students were arrested for participating in the water balloon fight.

According to the complaint filed by a minor’s guardian ad litem, a police officer, Jaymin Lenwood Murphy, came to a home to investigate allegations that an adult had sent inappropriate photos via cell phone to a minor child. The officer said he needed to question the minor in private. Once in private, the officer had the minor remove her clothing so he could take photos for his ‘investigative file.’ It gets worse. The officer later returned on minor’s fourteenth birthday and raped her. He threatened the whole family with arrest, if they told anyone.
He has been convicted of rape, but some charges dismissed, with multiple minors ages 11 to 14. I don’t know how long in prison for this. Police officers typically get a slap on the wrist for crimes that send other people away for a long time.

In some communities, people need aps to
(a) send video to some remote site(s) so when the police seize and destroy the evidence on the cell phone, there is a copy some place else;
(b) the some place else need to have legal protection so that a search warrant can get a copy of the video, but not police destruction of it.

Fracking is one controversy. Federal regulations, for the companies engaged in that activity, is another controversy. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) just came out with a change in the rules, and there are links at this article, to get at those rules (171 pages), and what various environmental organizations have to say about them.

Info I received via a contact South of the US Border about Venezuela and much more.
Maduro and Castro lied on Chávez death. Thursday May 9 2013 14:36 | Written by Soramir Torres | | | Caracas, Notitweets.
"The information that will be discussed below is the result of serious research without political spirits of any kind, the only intention is to expose the reality of the events on the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. This is the testimony collected from different sectors, which all point out to the involvement on Chavez's death, by Nicolás Maduro and Raul Castro.
Truth prevails, the most monumental farce has been made to deceive the world and the people of Venezuela, from Nicolás Maduro and his first group of officers and members of the Venezuelan government.

Here is some advice to help keep ordinary people as safe as is practical.
If you receive an email from someone you know who says they are in trouble, contact that person directly with the number or email address that you have for them or someone in their family or business who may know more about their current situation. Use contact method OTHER than contact info which is in that e-mail. There are scams where a person’s e-mail is compromised, and now controlled by someone painting a horrible story, necessitating rapid delivery of money to get them out of some jam, which is a fabrication of the crook.
NEVER give out personal information over the telephone or online to someone you don’t know, even if they are allegedly with some organization that you do know.
Microsoft does not call ordinary people to help them with some alleged problem on their computer, when those people never... more »

There’s stuff in the news which I consider to be outrageous, if true, need to seek out additional info sources to verify the stories. Here’s one.
Saginaw Michigan has an impoverished district which was badly mismanaged, so the state government cut off their funds.
The Michigan school year ends June 13, but this place was just told it has ended for them May 3rd. All teachers and staff were fired, the students kicked out of the schools.
The teachers union said they would work for no pay. The state refused the offer. The locals need $ ½ million to keep going to June 13, and the state has $ ½ billion in a rainy day fund. For those of you weak in math, that’s just over 500 million available to the state, of which 1 in 1,000 is all that is needed to keep the Saginaw schools afloat, to the same end of school year as the rest of Michigan.
How come the rest of Michigan gets ... more »

Before Citizen’s United, there were rules for non-profits. If you exist for educational, social welfare, type activities, and stay out of politics, you get certain privileges, like confidentiality of your fund raising, and non-taxable. Congress had mandated the IRS perform a smell test of non-profits so they obey the rules.
Citizen’s United burned part of the rule booklet, so now organizations could have non-profit protection, while engaged in secret political promotions. However, they still supposed to do the original social welfare type stuff. Congress did not change IRS rules on the smell test requirement.

I have been following multiple stories in the news, just uploaded a revised edition of these notes. Since the prior sharing, I have added to my notes in several key areas: I added much more to the Ohio-Cleveland-Kidnap story, rearranging some of the content, and starting new sections still to flesh out. I added significant additional info to what’s known about the victims, suspect, and time-line, including conflicting stories between neighbors who say they called the police about very suspicious activities at that house, and police saying this never happened. Suspect # 1’s brothers were co-conspirators based on neighborhood witnesses, but have not yet been charged because the police do not believe those witnesses.
I moved my Amber ideas to be grouped up front with Amber in general. While fleshing out the Ohio Cleveland story, I found references to other services ... more »

Truth: a small child owned a gun, and shot younger sibling.
Truth: it is very controversial in America that children have fire arms.
Local community hates the fact that THEIR town is in the news because of this combination, so they are attacking visiting news media reporters. They might not realize that by doing so, they make the news about their community even hotter, take even longer to go away.
There is great disagreement regarding guns for children, where large portions of the nation see nothing wrong with it.
But the proportion of population which sees nothing wrong with attacking journalists, that is a very tiny minority.

There are laws which are poorly enforced or communicated, and technology evolving making it easier to do things, so people are doing things without always realizing it is illegal.
If someone uses party line, cell phone, mobile device, wifi, etc. to communicate stuff that is their personal business, other people are not supposed to listen in on that traffic, record it, use it, without the permission of the people whose traffic it is.
The reality is that a lot of different traffic is on same frequencies. I am no longer using a mobile phone in my home, which was purchased at a local Radio Shack, never modified by me. When I used it, I could hear taxi service calls over it.
Some systems are broken. A co-worker told me they picked up their extension to make a call. Instead, they heard me having a conversation with a business associate.

We should all strive to verify our facts. In Haiti there were a string of rapes of children by UN troops, and NGO volunteers, now proven to be true, but initially the authorities refused to believe the complaints, while the accused organizations threatened to sue everyone vilifying their employees.
Libel court cases can get expensive. It is much easier to be able to clearly prove the bad stuff before it gets to court.

The rules (and auto design and understanding human anatomy) may have evolved since I learned to drive (in the 1950’s and 1960’s, which was a combination of traditional schooling and real life experiences), when we were told about how far a vehicle travels at XX speed, before what the eyes see translate to the brain telling the body to react to tell the car, and then the brakes react, so we should have about 1 car length safety margin in front of us for every 20 mph of our speed.
Nowadays it seems like no-one heeds this safety margin, including school bus drivers. I might be driving 60 mph, with 3 car lengths of separation between me and the vehicle in front of me, and some other vehicle passes me, then plops into that gap, which I had deliberately maintained for safety. It makes no difference if private auto, truck, or school bus, other drivers do not adhere to this practice I was taught ... more »
