Context is king and determines content.
Always remember when designing, it’s about designing for people as you don’t get to decide what device someone has or from where they will be accessing your site – they do!
_Responsive design is also not just about making everything fit.
A very important aspect of responsive design which is all too often overlooked is context: you need to take into consideration how and from where the user will be accessing your site and tailor the experience and the content to those situations. For example, a desktop user accessing your site is likely sitting at a desk or on the couch with a laptop whereas your mobile user could be anywhere doing anything._
So should the mobile user simply get a scaled down desktop version?

2. Give More Case Studies To Demonstrate Mobile SEO Success
3. Leave The Responsive vs. Mobile Web Debate In 2012
If you want to make your site mobile and do well in search results, you now have three supported options: dynamic serving, responsive design and mobile URLs.
Google and Bing prefer responsive design if it makes sense for your users and you’re targeting smartphone users; but if it doesn’t and you’re not they can still make it work.

Let’s face it, not only are we all consumers but we’re also all marketers. We sell ourselves at work, we sell ourselves in our social groups, and we sell our wares in the marketplace. So it is not surprising, that the marketing and media experts have discovered a few tricks to push our buttons at the depths of the unconscious mind, the seat of our behaviors.

Damn awesome, control your lightbulb colour directly from your iOS device.
"If you find a scene you really like, go to the settings, and assign it an “on” or “off” time. For instance, you can switch a particular scene on at 6 p.m., when you’re walking in the door from work. Or, set a nice, low light in the upstairs bathroom to turn on first thing in the morning. You can also group and ungroup clusters of lights at once."
Cheap? Nah! Awesome? Hell yea!

iOS in your Enterprise? Is it mature enough?
80% of the Fortune 500 companies use iPhones and iPads. Tim Cook said companies such as Canon are outfitting its entire field sales teams with iPads.
Apple strenghtens its Enterprise capabilities with these new 6 functions in iOS6:
-“Guided Acces.” This lets the administrator lock the device to a single app and prevent the user from going to the home screen.
*-*Define wallpaper. This lets the administrator specify wallpaper for both locked and in-use devices. No rogue wallpaper, folks.
*-*Administrators may define a single HTTP global proxy for access to the web.
*-*There is now the ability to disable Game Center, iMessage, iBookstore and shared photo streams.
*-*An administrator may prevent Passbook notifications from showing on a locked screen, the download of content from iBookstore based on ... more »

HTML5 vs. NATIVE APPS
Is the HTML5 hype over or have we just seen a taste of what the future will bring?
HTML5 can be fast, but can it be fast enough?
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said his company's biggest mistake was using HTML5 for mobile development. "We burned through two years on that," Zuckerberg said. "It probably was the biggest strategic mistake we made."
"HTML5 is not the future of apps," said Strategy Analytics analyst Josh Martin. "While developers dream of 'write once run everywhere' the fragmented support for and limited APIs within HTML5 make this impossible. In fact, we predict the hybrid app is the future. Existing business models are protected, differentiation among and within ecosystems remains intact, and consumption continues unabated. The end result is the continued dominance of iOS, ... more »

The State of The Internet
"750M+ smartphones estimated sold 2012-2016."
That my friend, is one hell of an argument to get a mobile strategy today.
-2+ Billion people Online
-2/3rd of the world left to go.
-US "new media" is now 3x the stock value of "old media"
-Apple dominates the market and makes giants like Time Warner, Google, Disney, Amazon...look like toddlers...
-TV is still biggest in US ad revenue.
-US Newspaper ad revenue "collapsed", (TV next?)
-Facebook 11% of US online ad revenue, Google 62%.
-Groupon has about half of Social Commerce revenue.
-Smartphone Sales surpassed PC Sales. (Estimated to Dominate Y2016)

Mind-blowing hand-controlled computing room from Oblong Industries. This is worth the watch.

Responsive webdesign or not? The controversy is brewing!
Some takeaways from this article:
-Evaluate your consumer behaviour. What would they be looking for when using mobile?
-Would you need channel/device specific content? e.g. Mobile users are more interested in product x & y.
-A good responsive web design may be a more costly one time investment but save more time on keeping your site updated. It may be a good temporary solution to start off with, but not always the best long term solution.
-How much does page load speed mean to your users? Some reports indicate up to six times faster load of separate mobile web sites.
“The problem is that companies don’t have a way to create and deploy custom mobile content that works across the ever-expanding array of mobile phones in a way that is fast, cost effective, and doesn’t require coding knowl... more »

The Internet Industrial Revolution Has Begun
Have the path to success been shortened and made easier with the uproar of DIY manufacturing, Open source software and across the world Outsourcing?
The real question is if the competition will be harder because of the lower barrier to enter these new markets. How can you excel more than the others?
I wonder if the marketplace will be filled with those "average" ones who had some idea but werent really motivated, the ones without the strong passion and enthusiasm for excellence.
If you decide to jump on this train, my advice to you is: Differentiate, differentiate, differentiate.
Anyhow I think you should read the well written piece by +Chris Anderson at:

+Jason Hughes shared this with me. This device looks incredible! You have to read down to the end of this article. The increases in quality and speed that they have achieved are perfect evidence of why this type of thing should take off at this point. It is hitting the bend where things just improve very rapidly. Additive manufacturing has been around for a while, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
At only $2200 this isn't cheap, but it isn't that expensive either considering the quality of what it can produce. They also have software that you can download for free. I might play around with that even before I finally break down and buy one of these things.

Uploaded a few hours ago .. perceptive points .. kodaking was a verb, and it was banned in Central Park apparently ..
Author and Journalist Jeff Jarvis warns against the tendency to view new technology as a threat, arguing that this stance cedes power to regulators and corporations that may not have the public's best interests at heart.
Transcript--
There is a pattern to the introduction of technologies. When Gutenberg invented the press, some of the earliest authors were frightened of having their words and thoughts set down and permanently distributed widely. Jonathan Swift said that a book of verses kept in a drawer shown only to friends was like a fine lass, but once printed as a book it was like a common whore anyone could buy for two crown. Fast forward to the prior kind of moral panic we've had about privacy came because of a technology. In the year 1890, the first... more »

Social Media Marketing
It Works--You're Just Doing It Wrong
1) Start, always, with your current customers. Put up signs in your store offering 10% off to those who like you on Facebook. Your customers' friends will notice and help generate more qualified fans.
2) Buy $100 in Facebook ads targeted to people in your town. Use Facebook's targeting system to reach people who like "biking" or "bikes" or "riding bikes." Drive them to like your page and not to your website.
3) Share great content with your fans: Pictures of people in bikes, a video of a cute kid learning how to ride a bike, a stat about how much healthier bikers are than non-bikers. Better yet, ask your customers and fans to share their best biking photos.
Then watch your leads and sales come in over time, all from just $100 and some of your... more »
