Day 4 of Android Camp and it’s the chance for the Campers, including today’s blogger Mariya from Bulgaria, to put everything they’ve been learning into practice before their 24 hour (yes 24 hour!) Hackathon begins. Here’s what Mariya had to say:

You’ll have to wait until the next blog post to find out who the winning team is, but Stefania from Romania, summed up how everyone was feeling on the final day despite little (or no!) sleep:

Awesome experience. T, the developed apps showed our passion for Android, improved our team working skills and challenged us.

Great Googlers: coordinators, tutors, helpers and even lunch mates.

Congratulations to everyone!

On Day 2 of Android Camp, the students were thrown deep into Android development and got some friendly career advice from Googlers along the way. Lavinia shares her impressions of the day:

6:30am: I guess I'm still a bit “jet-lagged.”. Can't seem to sleep later than 7am :()
8:00am: Breakfast time! Today I went for the big tasty looking muffin. My brain was screaming for sugar and I couldn’t refuse it...
9:00am: Heading to the Google office for a new day, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle our next Android challenges. Let's do this!
10:30am: Things are getting interesting... and more complicated. We learn about these strange “animals” known as fragments. They are quite some “tough cookies” to handle. It took my app crashing a couple of times and some log searching to figure them out but I finally did it! ;)

12:30pm: As we give our brains a break, we get ready to do some exploring. Led by our lovely guide, we get to take a sneak peak behind the “closed doors” of the Google office. Exciting! 😄
1:30pm: Lunch time!
2:30pm: Break's over! New session, new topics! Learned about data persistence and threading in Android. Slowly, slowly, we're getting there...
5:30pm: Engineering panel! Cool people willing to share with us their experience and answer our questions. Loved the diversity of their backgrounds and the honesty of their answers. Quite inspiring!
6:30pm: Google card game time with Launch & Iterate! I really enjoy playing this kind of game! They totally get me hyped up! Super fun!
8:00pm: Dinner time! Great food as usual, what can I say?! Delicious! 😉

TL;DR: more Android coding, more tasty food, more cool people, more fun! Another amazing day in the Android Google Camp!

On Day 1 of Android Camp, the students were introduced to Android development, identified their work style preference, and explored London in the last sunshine of the day.

On the first day of the Camp, we learned about the basics of Android and got familiar with our MacBooks and teammates. I didn’t know it was this easy to make a phone call from our own app!
We had lunch at Google headquarters and I loved how healthy the food was in the front, but that there was ice-cream and fizzy drinks hidden in the back of the cafe. What a brilliant little idea! They also have software testing tips on restroom doors! :)

In the evening, we visited local landmarks on a Scavenger Hunt. During the game, I noticed that the results from our psychological test were probably right: as a “Green,” I indeed over-analyzed some of our tasks, and our “Orange” member was the fastest with her decisions - just like the test results suggested!___

Google European Android Camp 2015 has kicked off in London! We have a week full of activities, which started with a welcome reception on Sunday to give our Campers a chance to get to know one another.

You can get to know our Campers throughout the week as well. We’ll be sharing their first-hand stories each day to give you a glimpse into some of the exciting events happening here on the ground.

After seven hours of travel from Austria to London, finally the adventure called Android Camp 2015 has begun! I was really curious about all the other girls joining the camp and met my roommate first. It's absolutely amazing how much similarities there can be between two people that have never met before. An example? We were both planning holidays in London for nearly the same time before we knew that we would join Android Camp! The first evening was really funny absolutely nothing to bean... more »

There were introductions to the team and a lot of new people to get to know, absolutely delicious food and also quite a big surprise for all of us! ___

At Google, we have a flat structure that enables interns to make meaningful connections with full-time employees all throughout the company. To showcase some of these connections, each week, we'll be posting pictures of interns getting coffee with—not for—full-time employees. Here's this week's:

“I had the incredible fortune to grab coffee (or in my case, hot chocolate) with Romain Guy, a software engineer on the Android team, and someone I've looked up to since before I got on campus. #Weekends Asia Edition. Singapore's art and craft scene has been gaining momentum in recent years, and there are many activities to check out every weekend. Last weekend, I joined a letterpress and typesetting workshop. I found out that many terms we use in digital publishing today, like impressions, points, and picas, all came from this craft. It took 4 hours to set and press our own set of 15 cards. I've never been more appreciative of the office printer! -Jane, Singapore Intern

It was super inspiring to speak with her and see how she is able to integrate her passion for digital media and diversity into her own personal project at Google. It was also very cool to see that Google not only allows employees to devote work time to side projects, but actually encourages them to do it. I don't know how she juggles it all, but we could definitely all learn a thing or two about multi-tasking from Naeemah!" -Navah, NYC Intern #InternsGettingCoffee
