The Treasury

The Treasury is the most easily recognized ruin at the World Heritage site of Petra in Jordan. A few nights a week the local bedouin hold a light show at the base of this remarkable rock cut temple, hundreds of candles are lit to provide a wonderful spectacle of light. There is only a short few moments between the lighting of the last candle and the arrival of the tourists so I had to be prepared for this shot. I think shooting from the top of the cliff allowed me to make a somewhat unique image of this iconic location.

A heart full of love, a head full of ideas, and a strong will to unite turned out to be a fertile mix for an amazing G+ adventure.
When my fifth season on G+ comes to an end in a few weeks 50.000 people have circled or at least not uncircled me. I found some of you, others found me but all started by those who decided to put me in a shared circle. Shared circles are the motor of G+.

Unexplained Natural Phenomenon: Hillier Lake of Western Australia

Hillier Lake can be found on the Middle Island, the largest island of the Rechercher Archipelagos of Western Australia. Scientists still don’t know why the lake is a bubble-gum pink color, but the color does not change when you put it in a vessel. The Lake is saline, and surrounded by a belt of white salt beaches.The length of the lake is about six hundred m. A narrow strip of land composed of sand dunes covered by vegetation separates it from the ocean. The lake is surrounded by a rime of white salt and a dense woodland of Paperbark and Eucalypt trees with sand dunes separating the lake from the Southern Ocean to the north.

One of not that common and very specific allegories - Allegory Of The State Of France Before Napoleon’s Return From Egypt, by Jean-Pierre Franque.

During Napoleon's Egypt campaign in 1798-99, after their victory over the Mameluks near the pyramids in 1798, the French took Cairo, but the same year the victory of the English fleet under Admiral Nelson at Abukir prevented their retreat. Napoleon's army was cut off. In 1799 the French fought on into Syria, but Napoleon had to withdraw from Egypt in 1801. After his return to Paris the Directorate was brought down.
