Last night, after a near myocardial infarction due to the OT with the Pacers, I popped my ear buds in and began surfing through my tunes. And I came across an album that was my go to from about 16-17 years old.

The Cure's Pornography is, without doubt, their darkest and most opaque album in so far as lyrics and arrangements. Bobby Smith was in a deeper depression and misery than you will find on any of their other albums. Martial beats, wailing guitars, flange force atmospherics, their Gothiest album. Their follow up album, Japanese Whispers, is a testament to mental health success and anti-depressants as they will go from their darkest hour to the synthpop bounciness and kitsch of tunes such as "Let's Go to Bed" and "The Walk."
