curator Circle0As promised yesterday, here is the #CuratorCircleEdition  4Wisdom of this circle: Take time to view the profile of those you add if you care for the quality of the content shared on G+!Some of you that show interest to be included in the circle will not find themselves in. It is not an hazard; the minimum one can do while asking for inclusion in a shared circle is to include the sharer page or profile. Also due to the maximum space of 500 profiles, others have been kept for the next circle.Rules of the circle:1. Plus and share the circle (add me if you haven't done it yet)2. Comment to ask for inclusion. And enjoy your day.2014-05-06 13:53:46501361123
curator Circle0Curator Circle Edition 3After an astonishing success of the 2 previous Editions of my Circle, I decided to promote a new group of friends. These include among others Photographers, and a variety of engaging entrepreneurs that are active on Google+.The wisdom of the circle; only add people you think that add a value to your Google+ experience.I extend my thanks to those that shared my previous circles including: +not-just-web Marketing, +Vale mica, +Matt MacIntyre, +Bhattacharya P. +Mark Young. The circle's rules are pretty simple:1. Plus and share this circle (add me in your circle if you haven't done it yet).2. Comment to ask for inclusion.2014-05-01 15:21:54378271628
curator Circle0Content Curator Edition 2As I said yesterday, I am here to share my fun with people that share the passion with me.Today's Tip  Did you add people and you are wondering that no one has cared to add you back? here can be one of your issues: you did not have an attractively written profile. Make sure you add a nice picture of you, a well crafted intro and more importantly let others know your fields of interest. In this edition, I will like to thank: +notjustwebmarketing.com +not-just-web Marketing  +Vale mica  +David Oldenburg  +Blythe Ayne  +Sanchia Adolph +Anastas Georgiadis  +Ashima Dogra +Ben Capelo +Ronald Balbach +Danica Macanga Here are the rules for those that part of this circle:1. Plus the circle (and add me if you have done so yet)2. Comment to ask for inclusion if you are not in.3. I highly recommend you to add other fellows that are with you in the circle (if you want!)The next one is coming very very soon with more Tips2014-04-28 14:43:4837619415

Dustin W. Stout34,995The Most Interesting Ladies On Google+!Part 5 of my #circlesplosion  series has finally arrived! If you're not familiar with Circlesplosion be sure to read about it here: dustn.tv/circlesplosion/After sorting through 500 comments and over 1,000+mentions I have finished curating this circle of the Most Interesting Ladies on Google+! And by "ladies" I mean it in the highest regard with the utmost respect. These are women who are exceptional examples of leadership, inspiration, encouragement, entertainment, and just plain fun! This list was carefully curated with intentional attention to thoughtful recommendations, interaction, and engagement. Though I don't know all of them (yet) I am confident that they are absolutely worth adding to your own circles! I will also not that this circle is incredibly diverse-- artists, doctors, business women, entrepreneurs, bloggers, crafters, geeks (self-proclaimed), writers, trainers, and women who are awesome for a whole lot of reasons. What to do with this circleAdd this circle and take some time to monitor the stream over the next week. Find those that you really connect with or are inspired by and add them to another of your relevant circles. Do so until you believe you've added everyone of relevance and interest to you and then delete this circle (unless of course you just want to keep it-- that's fine too). I hope you make some great connections, I know I have already. And be sure to let me know in the comments below what you'd like to see the next #circlesplosion   project to be. :D #sharedcircles   #ns  2014-02-21 18:43:192589784129

Bernard Piette7,060Hi,First off big hat tip to everyone who just participated in the Great Google+ Circle debate hosted by +David Oldenburg and +Christine DeGraff . Thanks to all on both sides on the debate to help us all get more perspective on this discussion. *NOW BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM :-) *Announcing version 2 of the #MoversandShakers  circle!! Yippee! Again this week, I have spent much time to ensure there are only quality engagers, posters and mentors who can bring value to your Google+ experience. If you want to be included,,,,, wait for it..... Take A Walk Along the Coast
I totally LOVE it when a painting is more fun to paint than it probably should be. This piece was just that. It tied my love of paper, of color, of mark making, and of the coast all in one and my heart smiled big through the entire process. It is hard to grasp the scale of just how big this piece is...4 feet by 4 feet...on paper. You can click through to my blog to see the work in progress, view up close detail shots, and see its size. Today I am loving so much the fact that I can work hard...but work hard creating things I love. Worth every minute. http://ardithsart.blogspot.com/2014/07/take-walk-along-coast-by-ardith-goodwin.html

For the Love of a Small Town 18" by 24" acrylic on paper
Ask me where my heart lives and I will tell you Mobile, Alabama. As a youngster growing up in the south I have vivid memories of the downtown area as a child, particularly the Gayfers department store and the blooming azaleas. When we piled in the car It was as if we were going to New York or something because of the vast expanse of those buildings, colors, and life that filled my eyes. Today, I am a co-owner of one of those little shops in that very downtown and there are moments I stand outside the doorway of our gallery, two blocks away from where that department store used to stand, and smile at the feeling of being that little one full of excitement again. Quaint little towns fill the south, many are being forgotten, and some are no longer in place. I hope I never live to see the day that small town America is no more.... more »

Had the brilliant photographer Jennifer Widemire Smith come out and take some pics of my outdoor studio. Love the outcome of this one. I was goofing off and laughing my way through it.

Working With A Primary Color Palette
I am LOVING working with primary colors in this series. Although I have always been drawn to pops of red, I have not embraced these colors so boldly until now...and am loving their interactions. These three pieces are each 18" by 24" acrylic/mixed media on paper. They make my heart sing to look at them so I know I shall spend more time with red, yellow, and blue for sure.

For the Love Of a Bird 4 feet by 5 feet aquamedia on paper
#5 in my series of "The Journal Speaks" celebrates my love of friendship, birds, and the quirkiness of being a bit different. Just as I work in my journals, perfection is never the key. Being free to explore glazes and marks, and layers within the context of the image and text is the focus on this larger substrate as well as my journal pages. Loving this entire process! You can view the series here: http://ardithgoodwin.com/the-journal-speaks/

Community News Update PLEASE READ
I am looking for a couple of moderators to help me moderate posts here. Our group is amazing...but getting very large and drive by posting or link posting without dialogue is becoming an issue. I need a couple of folks to help me encourage members to follow our guidelines and some to help me remove posts that don't follow them. Any takers?
For all of our members, especially those who stay active, if you see a post that doesn't follow our guidelines, PLEASE help me by gently sharing with them how to post here. Many folks come for the first time and fail to take the time to read the guidelines. If we all pitch in it might be easier. Thoughts?

Cousin Esther is a Ham!
18" by 24" mixed media (oil/acrylic/ink)
Sometimes I have to let my imagination out to play just for the helluva it. This deliciously odd piece came to fruition as I as and laughed my way through her quirkiness...and birdish friend. Paintings like this one are what refill my well after a large, emotional piece. They are ever so important for play. www.ardithgoodwin.com/mixed-media-gallery

Happy Tuesday Friends
This is the 4th in a series of my larger, art journal pages created on really large canvas. I am loving the entire process but it is hard! This piece as collage, acrylic, graphite, charcoal etc and is 3 feet by 4 feet.

For those of you who are new to our community or haven't read our guidelines PLEASE do so. This group is too big now to message each person so if you post and don't follow our guidelines I will simply remove your post. Hope I won't have to, give us some insight into your process!

Hope your Tuesday is full of beauty friends!

To Peel Through the Layers 3' by 4' mixed media on canvas
This is #4 in my series, "The Journal Speaks," which is a body of work that showcases my love or art journaling on a much larger substrate. The concept of beauty is one that I study a great deal, find fascinating, and believe it is one of those aspects of human nature that lives invisibly...with great power. Transparency was the running thread for me, as I wrote about beauty, considered how complex it is, and finally, listened to the canvas for the message. You can read about my entire process and see work in progress pics if you click through to my blog. http://ardithsart.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-journal-speaks-about-beauty.html #abstractart   #artjournaling  ___Happy Tuesday Friends

Hard Work Pays Off
I was inspired by a Drawing Club post that showcased a graphite artist's first sketch and current sketch so I dug into my archives and found one of mine from 3rd grade, of George Washington.  I paired it with one of my current pieces and love how it reminds me that I am doing so much better than I give myself credit for sometimes. I didn't go to art school, but what I did do was take a love of doodling with me from when I was a child. If your child loves to draw, make a big deal out of that. That one skill can take them so many places!

Flowers After the Dance 18" by 24" acrylic on paper
Lately I have been really enjoying the play between marks and structure within my paintings. They begin with a connection to the paper, a dance if you will, as I lay down line and dot and movement within the space. Color actually comes afterwords, and changes and adapts as the light and play of subject matter begins to evolve. This piece gave me a visual shift from the ordinary to the unexpected. It reminded me why I love the dance so much, of not simply painting, but of mark making as well and finding its voice through the paper. http://ardithgoodwin.com/mixed-media-gallery/

The Gift of a Blue Butterfly
I haven't seen a butterfly in months, probably years. I am sure they have been around, but for some reason none have captured my attention, until this morning. I was setting up my outdoor studio and this little guy lighted upon the handle of my dolly, right beside a pine tree where a fence post lizard was perched. He sat that and ever so slowly moved his wings...seemed not to mind that I was inches from him, and then flew off. A few minutes later he came back and rested about two feet from me while I painted, just watching, just taking it all in. I have never seen a blue butterfly like this in my lifetime, I do hope I am lucky enough to see one again. He was simply beautiful!

Riding the Wave 12" by 36" acrylic on canvas
The call of the ocean is a powerful voice in the hearts of so many, especially those who play along the edges of its laughter and excitement as it hits the shore. Surfers seem to understand that call at the deepest level. The ocean seeps into their being, calls them back time after time, and captures their love for an eternity. Riding the Wave is a an abstract expression piece mixing the love of that call with the tremendous texture and movement found within the waves. It is a piece that speaks about passion

The Fabulous Family of Five 18" by 24" acrylic on paper
Every family has a story to tell. Be it hilarious, sad, challenging, or down right hard to believe. This piece reminds me so much of the family that heads out on a journey and fills it with memories that will stand the test of time. Laughter is shared, wonders are experienced, smells are everlasting, and life is beautiful.

Mother's Fruit Bowl 18" by 40" acrylic on paper
My mother used to have a bowl of plastic fruit on the table when I was a child and one of my fondest memories was pulling one off and chewing it when she wasn't looking. Kind of weird yes, but for some reason, that memory makes me incredibly happy and I miss those grapes to this day. "Mother's Fruit Bowl" is a combination of bold and soft colors with much happiness and love mixed in between the marks. Its a larger piece, 18" by 40" acrylic on paper. http://www.ardithgoodwin.com/mixed-media-gallery

The Conversation Is Divine 32" by 32" acrylic on paper
The art of table setting, for some, is a necessary part of living well. It is their way of creating beauty and sharing it with friends, family, and the occasional unexpected guest. As I worked through this piece I wanted to capture the love I have for a life filled with moments around such tables. They have been filled with the lessons of youth, tears of the loved, and laughter between friends. We gather together....around tables filled with life. I LOVE when I come back to our group and find so much amazing artwork and conversations! Makes me swoooon! I have been painting like mad. This piece is a new series incorporating marks, Asemic writing, and my new color palette. Having a ball working big and loose these days. Fluid acrylics, graphite, and Inktense Blocks. This piece is also larger 32" by 32" on paper.

A Prayer for the Mark Makers
I am a firm believer that we each make marks on this world. Some with our words, some with our brushes, some with our voices, and everyone with our actions. The marks contained in this piece come from the place in me that resonates love, gives birth to compassion, and sheds light on the beautiful. My prayer is that when words and semantics are lacking, our actions based in love will become a universal language, and may we strive daily to share it. (This piece is part of my Asemic Writing series) https://ardith-goodwin.squarespace.com/mixed-media-gallery/

Asemic Writing Studies
What are the longings of the heart that we are unable to speak? Do they come from love, fear, yearnings, desires? As infants, as soon as we held an object in our hands that could make a mark, we were beginning the form of Asemic Writing. I have been studying Asemic Writing and how it relates to artists, especially in our mark making when we are unaware of the message. The tools the move through the fingers, that alter the paint and mediums through a visual art form, give way to the marks that lack semantic meaning but are powerful in their own right. As an artist who is, at my core, a mark maker these studies connect with my most guttural need to to express myself in visual form. You can view many of these on my website here: https://ardith-goodwin.squarespace.com/mixed-media-gallery   #asemic   #asemicwriting   #abstractpainting

New Works From My Outdoor Studio
Happy Thursday friends! Summer break is half over for me but I have been burning the midnight oil just the same in my outdoor studio. Love the freedom of painting outside even though the air is heavy enough to spoon in lower Alabama. http://ardithsart.blogspot.com/2014/06/new-works-from-my-outdoor-studio.html

I have been in the throes of building a new body of work for gallery representation and I am thrilled with the direction things are headed in. I used Derwent Inktense Blocks, Acrylics, and graphite on these. #acrylic   #abstractpainting

Conversations With the Canvas
Worked on three new pieces today where I considered intention, color palette, movement, and impact not only on the viewer but my own heart as well. ___I have been in the throes of building a new body of work for gallery representation and I am thrilled with the direction things are headed in. Happy Saturday Friends
I have been hanging out this week in my outdoor studio just letting the paint flow, chasing off a yellow fly or two, and taking the beauty of this place all in. So blessed to have this space to enjoy and create art in.

Where Love Lives
Where Love Lives

I absolutely adore the variety in families, especially those filled with love for one another, and the love of others. As I painted this piece, I kept thinking about what it would be like to be without one, to be part of one where you resided down the bridge of other's noses, or to be in one where its members didn't live in safety. With that on my heart, my thoughts turned to creating an image that portrayed a family, diverse in many ways, but bound together by love. For I can dream of no better way to live, but to be part of a family where love lives.

Into the Heavens 24" by 24" Acrylic on Canvas
I choose to believe that angels live among us. We walk with them, we encounter them, and live in the midst of them. As I prayed through this piece, it occurred to me that we too, are many times, angels to others. This made me consider that when we share love with others, a piece of our heart moves from this place into the Heavens. http://ardithgoodwin.com/mixed-media-gallery

Loving the challenge of a new color palette!

A Muted Color Palette
For those who know me then you know my palette is usually far from muted. Because I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone this summer, I am using a limited palette with much more muted colors. So far, I am loving the journey. It is difference, lots of subtlety in the values and hues, but I love it. This piece was created using water soluble graphite sticks, Derwent Inktense Blocks, and fluid acrylics. 22" by 30" acrylic on paper. http://ardithgoodwin.com/mixed-media-gallery/vllkkk501fb69o7spj01c87s9c4f2x___Loving the challenge of a new color palette!

The Extinction of Fear
22" by 30" mixed media on paper
To an artist, fear can be the force that cripples the spirit, the drive, the voice calling out to be heard. As I painted this piece all I could think of was the extinction of that fear, for myself and others....in a big way.

First, let me welcome our new members here and ask that if you haven't done so yet, please read our posting guidelines so that you know the framework we try and work within here.

Why no drive by posting? I equate them to walking into a ballroom full of people, placing a piece of your artwork down in a chair, and then walking out. Some folks might see it, they might even know your name, but it does absolutely nothing to promote conversation, relationship, and connection....and it will be deleted here.

In my circles and networks around the world there is a shift happening, one that is bringing the conversation of art, of technique, of passion, and of why we create to table. I would love to see that continue here and actually grow. Please, as you share, share your why, your how, your insight, your beautiful self along with yourb... more »

Loving the Challenge of Bringing My Art Journal Pages To Large Format
I ADORE working in an art journal so when I needed to land on an idea for my next series my journal spoke loud and clear.....start here. My most challenging series to date, but my most rewarding so far, and working in an outdoor studio makes it even better.

I can barely contain my joy when it comes to this series. My loved of journals, color, writing, and structure have merged in a huge bowl of artistic soup. Served up my second spoonful with this one. Challenging, thought provoking, and exactly what my heart was looking to say.... 95% complete, just need to nail down some details. Diversity is Beautiful. Loose Lines With The Palette Knife
Well, today I am thankful for an outdoor studio with a bed about 20 feet away. I have had the fun pleasure of having pneumonia the past few days so my sweet hubs set up my studio for me and for two days I just sat and looked at it. Today I was at least able to get up and move some paint between naps. I am exhausted, but very optimistic that the next few days will be filled with lots more painting and lots less coughing up a lung, lol. I am calling this one, "The Hug of a Lifetime." 22" by 30" acrylic

We have had a slew of new members lately which is exciting! If you haven't had a chance yet, read through our guidelines so you know how to post in our community to get the most interaction. I am not a fan whatsoever of drive by posting so if you share a post with no dialogue I remove those. So far, the connections we are making here are incredible so I am grateful to all of you who post, interact, ask questions, and share you insight into your own processes. It makes this place amazing every day! Newbies, let me know if you have questions by tagging me, :)

I took a page from Matisse and taught my students how to sketch on a large scale using chalk taped to a stick. They have worked so hard preparing for our play and enjoyed learning how we connect his legacy with our studies. Can't wait to see it finished!

Love Shifts The Heart Painting
For the longest time I have wanted to paint really large canvases in the same style that I use in some of my art journals. Today I decided to try it out on a 24" by 24" canvas and I must say, it was a riot of a good time. I had to alter my mark making a good bit, chose different tools, but the concept and execution was oh, so similar and it was the most fun I have had painting in years. Now that I know that it isn't so daunting, I am headed for much larger pieces in a series.

I want to share an artist with you who has one of the most enthusiastic and supportive voices for artists as well as one who creates gorgeous works of art. +Jeanne Bessette Below, in the post, are words she wrote as a challenge for us to understand that real joy comes from the heart. I felt many of you might connect with her message and this artist as one to watch and follow. Here marks on the canvas and the heart are amazing.

Wise Words from Jeanne Bessette, Artist With A Powerful Voice
Every so often I come across an artist not only who's work I connect with but who's vision for life is contagious, and Jeanne Bessette has both qualities. She shared the passage below as a challenge and I felt strongly that the timing was right to share it here as well so that some of you might connect with it too. Art changes lives, one creative push at a time :)
http://bessetteart.com/

"Shedding the armor....this post comes with a challenge...How many can you get to join us?
We come into this world all vulnerable and soft for a reason. It's how we are meant to live. As little tiny children we come from pure love and we know it's the only way to carry on. Life goes on and experiences and teachers and others tell us to toughen up...we crust over and harden our hearts and get all cynical and think everyone is out to get us...We view the word as dangerous and it becomes dangerous..I did it, I get it, I'm guilty. I'm done.

Here's the deal. The real joy of life is in the heart. Living life as fully as you can open armed and vulnerable. It's truly the only way you will ever find your true self, your true joy, your true path.

Shedding your armor is the first step. It's a world of shit out there...yup..I know.

It' can be changed by your attention to your heart. Open that up and fill the world with your willingness to be real and soft and I promise the world will respond in a way that is softer and open and real.

Just sayin.....I'm starting a revolution...more heart less shell...

Who's with me? Let' see how many people we can agree t shedding their armor.

Warning...you will get resistance! Try anyway...

Who's in...spread the word!!!!

Shedding the Armor. 36X48 Brand new..."___I want to share an artist with you who has one of the most enthusiastic and supportive voices for artists as well as one who creates gorgeous works of art. +Jeanne Bessette Below, in the post, are words she wrote as a challenge for us to understand that real joy comes from the heart.
