When Flight Engineer Chris Cassidy welcomed his three new crewmates aboard the International Space Station last week, they may have thought for a moment they were seeing double.
Flight Engineers Luca Parmitano, Karen Nyberg and Fyodor Yurchikhin, who docked with the station aboard their Soyuz TMA-09 on May 28, were greeted by Cassidy, now sporting a bald head and goatee like Parmitano: http://go.nasa.gov/19FyWe9

Fresh fruit from Earth is a treat for astronauts on the International Space Station, not a pantry staple. For an orphanage in Rwanda, drying fresh fruit is a way to become financially self sufficient, thanks to the efforts of engineers volunteering their time to help them do just that. Take a look at the *Engineers Without Borders* project featured on fragileoasis.org:. http://www.fragileoasis.org/projects/engineers-without-borders
+NASA astronaut Karen Nyberg and +European Space Agency, ESA astronaut +Luca Parmitano both arrived on the International Space Station last week. Humans, apples and oranges float in zero gravity!

International Space Station Expedition 35 Flight Engineers Chris Cassidy and Tom Marshburn of NASA switched their spacesuits to battery power at 8:44 a.m. EDT, signifying the start of today's planned six hour, 30 minute excursion.
Cassidy will be performing his fourth spacewalk. He has spent a total of 18 hours, 5 minutes outside during three spacewalks in support of the International Space Station. Cassidy will don a spacesuit with red stripes. His helmet camera displays the number 20.
Marshburn also will be conducting his fourth spacewalk. He has spent a total of 18 hours, 59 minutes outside during three spacewalks in support of the International Space Station. Marshburn will wear a spacesuit with no stripes. His helmet camera displays the number 18.

Looking due north from the International Space Station towards the North Pole from east of Fryeburg, Maine where Robert E. Peary, born 157 years ago today, worked as a surveyor after graduating from Bowdoin College in 1877. What do you suppose the legendary discoverer of the North Pole had in mind when he wrote at the age of 21, “as I think of what the world is and that I have my life before me, nothing seems impossible.” Image credit: NASA

52 years ago today, Alan Shepard became the first American to fly in space. Our expedition 28 mission patch honors both the first American, Alan Shepard and the first human Yuri Gagarin. It was an honor to be aboard the International Space Station during the 50th anniversary of both of those milestones.

The river snaking through this picture taken by a human living and working on the International Space Station is a fence made of wire, wood and floodlights just inside India at its border with Pakistan. The light on Earth's horizon is airglow made of atoms and molecules in the upper atmosphere, which protects all life on our planet.
