Hello Group!
Anyone in Los Angeles area wanting to adopt my dusty, otherwise in good working order, Durst Laborator 1000 super 4x5 mega black and white enlarger? It needs to be picked up in Santa Monica this month.
I've been holding on to it in hope that I can ship it to me in France. Alas, this can not happen. I'm willing to let it go to a good home.
Please let me know if interested!

This time with my loveliest, visiting friend Lise, a Kathak danser originally from south of France. This is a preview of our secret photoshoot.

Roms in France.
I want to believe.
I want to believe that each of us want to better ourselves, our lives, our families, our people, every people.
I want to believe that a person is greater than the (negative) perpetuation of a culture or a sub-culture.
I want to believe that by my treating everyone equally nice and politely, we can all relax and have ourselves a good day.
I just want peace in this building.
But
My sh*t got stolen, I found out today. It was 2 weeks ago the package was "delivered". A signature was forged, in the name of another trustworthy neighbor who had nothing to do with this CRIME. Who could have done such a thing?
Now I pain in suspicion for one or all of these Rom neighbors. I thought we were cool. I thought that we didn't have problems with each other - even with the unauthorized use of our garage. We di... more »

Welcome to our new home.
This is the front gate, one of the 3 surrounding this village of Dambach la Ville. Following this road straight ahead and via right you will find our little new old place. This summer we will be working on a massive renovation in hope to move in by September? ::: fingers crossed :::
More history and pictures of this village will, of course, be added as we go. Yesterday I just took the train there for a flea market and another walk-around. I felt like a tourist with a camera and all but in my pocket was this victorian era skeleton key that opens one of these Alsatian homes (circa 1850).
We'll love this medieval wine village just fine.

It was such a beautiful day today, likely one of the best in my recent memory. The air was brisk after it rained on and off for the week. All our shoes got wet but no one minded it. Spring is finally here.

Good morning and happy Wednesday to you all.
Last week I finished my photo part of this new CD. It should be out very soon.
Jerry Bergonzi is a master saxophonist/composer/educator. It's a serious honor that my pictures were selected for this project.
One thing I absolutely loved and missed for living in Los Angeles was the stream of world class musicians that tour through. Even as the "community of musicians" are different, let's say, than New York or New Orleans, the chance to shoot and file some of the greatest players were better spread out than stacking choices of shows. Of which, could only burn me out, if not produce a lot of option-anxieties. A source of a downside, if it can be considered as one, was the limitation of venues. Most, with their fancy upkeep, and the accompanying stiffy management, even as they were awesome with stage... more »

A wonderful village of Sélestat, in the heart of the Alsace region. We went for a short stroll in the old town center last Thursday. On this rainy and cold afternoon, there was one opened window and it had eyes. They were keeping on us as we were walking around on the quiet street. It was a holiday, the Day of the Dead. All of the businesses were closed.
It was also a big day for us. This day, we committed to become a part of the low key scene. About an hour after this picture was taken, we signed some papers, buying an ancient house in a smaller village nearby.

Geese
Strutting his (or her?) stuff is the Sebastopol in front of the Greylag
"The Sebastopol is a breed of domestic goose, descended from the European Graylag. They were also referred to as Danubian geese; a name first used for the breed in Ireland in 1863."
"The Greylag Goose, Anser anser, is a bird with a wide range in the Old World. It is the type species of the genus Anser.

This is BAD. They are discontinuing MY FILM
From Kodak's FB page :
We wanted to update you on a change to our film portfolio. Due to low sales volume, Kodak is ending production of KODAK PROFESSIONAL T-MAX P3200 Film (TMZ). The demand for ultra-high speed B&W film has declined significantly, and it is no longer practical to coat such a small volume of product.
The suggested replacement is KODAK PROFESSIONAL T-MAX 400 Film (TMY-2). The latitude of TMY-2 allows it to handle one stop of underexposure (EI 800) without being pushed. In low light situations, TMY-2 delivers very good results when exposed at EI 1600 with increased development time.
You can find more information here about the remaining portfolio, as well as information on sheet films available through special order at K. B. Canham Cameras, Inc.... more »

I'm waiting for the arrival of a photoshop plug-in that has calculated presets of the successful historical photographs in different genres. This plug-in will crop, recompose, dodge, burn, turn black&white, sepia, artsy, grainy, insert film base, sharpens/blur areas accordingly - with one click. Someone has to be working on it right now, I'm sure.
From there, I can't wait to get into the discussion of what photography is in the modern era.
Soon.

Lopburi, Thailand
The demand for the heads of buddha statues rose since the first influx of foreign visitors to Thailand. To this day, the western decoration still favors this 'decor of the Far East' without the realization of some tragic, widespread, destruction on this religious, worse yet, as historic icons. The smugglings were high until recently, which only because there are not much left to be stolen. Local thieves with loose morals are easily baited to carry out such crime.
Generally, the significance of cultural heritage is harder to guard in such nations where simple human needs are insecure.
I do wonder where in the world this particular head is sitting now. At a museum? Private collector? or some storage dungeon somewhere?
I also don't really understand the aesthetic appeal of having such decoration. It's a humanoid head.
