The Truth About Your Ideas In Hollywood - And What to Do About It
+Sheri Candler put up an interesting post the other day about why ideas are just not enough.
It's something a lot of aspiring filmmakers and producers don't realize until far too late in their careers. We take many meetings where people walk in with "ideas" for documentary series, reality TV shows, etc. Those meetings are pretty much over before they start, because they've got an idea and nothing else.
To be successful not just in Hollywood, but in any business, you need to get beyond ideas and realize that real value is not in the idea itself -- it's in you as the artist, and the way you execute those ideas. Have a listen to this podcast episode which not only discusses ideas, but also explains how you can pitch your unscripted Film and TV concepts to us. The blog post attac... more »

It has worked before:
How to have an image in an album, share it at the same time and keep all comments attached to the image in the album itself.
Just as we could do it in 2011/2012 -- all year long.
Thanks for any workable tip.

The model is since a while here, but the Trestor paint and cement came this morning, a photography project :o)
Yes, I will have fun to do this project. It will be used for Camera Projection, and showcase how miniatures can be built, and used in CINEMA 4D. This will allow for a great teamwork in mixed-media projects, and to capture a great light with "free" render-time.
Currently I plan to do a time-lapse, perhaps testing RED's 4.0.12 options, or just with a 5D. We will see, maybe I do both. Let the play begin!

Aida K.
Just for fun, I created these little clips.
One is shot with my RED (in 4K, handheld), the other two with CINEMA 4D.
(The object was a model from a movie short I did a while ago)
I have a huge passion in creating images, still or animated, virtual or practical.
I created the underscoring after the editing, as I'm more a visual than an audio person, but I love this part of the work as well. I like to support the visuals with audio, just as I feel it. :o) Thanks for taking the the 80seconds time to check it out. :o)

This is a little "teaser" of one of my classes. I used here polarization filtering to extract a reflection matte. I took advantage of a little bit of the high tech in Photoshop to get this. ;o)
Which is then utilized in CINEMA 4D to get the HDRI show up in the tiles and on the stylized baseballs. :o)

Top 1000 most followed active
photographers sharing content on G+
Circle One: J to Z
This is the second of two circles, The first was shaerd on 16 May here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103236949470535942612/posts/FPsHj9E2QEo. The circles have been divided alphabetically to help give more exposure to people with fewer followers and shared at different times to help keep down the stream saturation.
Please plus, comment and share. This circle has no requirements for future participation but your support and encouragement is appreciated.
It has been two weeks since I announced my intent to update my circle of the 500 most followed photographers on G+. I decided to do things a bit differently this time and so I'll share the top 1000. To build the circles and the list I enlisted the aid of +Bill Wood

Dear Google Plus,
I would like that G+ uses the concept of the "circles" to have this as well applied to organize images. (Image Circle = Album) This is not connected to the people Circle of course. Perhaps call them square to make it more clear. ;o)
In this way an image can be in one or in many circles/squares and the organization of the images would be much simpler.
The image from Italy could be then in the Europe circle/square, but perhaps as well as in the sunset circle/square, and in the "Images 2013" circle/square, etc.
On the end, the best design is: what was learned one time to operate it, can be used again and again. The least amount of learning work is the best design. So circle...or square! I really would love that.
Thanks for considering and your great support over the years!

♥ The Share-a-thon Grand Finale ♥
¸.•˚´¨`˚•. ♥ The BIG Share! ♥¸.•˚´¨`˚• .¸
[If you've received notification, you're in it!]
This is a circle of photographers that I personally vetted during, and after, the share-a-thon. It consists of the 100+ photographers that I shared directly to my stream during the week long event and then 50+ more that I went through the profiles of this morning. I tried to keep it to under 150, but clearly I've failed (too many good photographers out there!) I hope it is still small enough for people to add.
I tried so hard to get to everyone that added their link in the thread, but my hand has given out. I apologize sincerely to the folks that I wasn't able to include this time around! Leaving aside all my jokes during the time about bandages and casts on my scrolling finger (or its having fallen off! ... ;oD)––my hand is actually ... more »

After shooting images and recording tutorials for the last 50 days straight, I slowly come back to normal. :o)
Here is a little moon shot. I know, not my first one of the moon, but it was a pretty clear sky last night. (Shot with a lens that I bought around 1979! ...with extender 1000mm.)
(Is something broken with the images uploads now?)

If you have worked on your images before you have uploaded those,
make certain that the
Settings> Auto Enhance/Auto Awesome
is not active (which is by default.)
I was told that this will, on the long run, affect as well previous images.
You might easily imagine my position to such features :o(

Apple Panorama 360º/180º
One series of tutorials I'm working on is a fifty part video series about textures for 3D. It is part of a package of around two hundred tutorials covering the complex field of "Photography for 3D Artists" exclusively on Cineversity.com
Here you can see an apple peeled with the camera, based on the guidance of "CINEMA 4D" during the process. :o)

Being quiet...
I'm in the process of producing over 200 tutorials about photography. Funny enough, all I do "day in, day out" is to capture worse case images, e.g., highest ISO and two stops under, so I can get to work on serious noise.
The series aims toward 3D Artists and captures HDRI, Panorama, Miniature, Camera Mapping, Texture Creation and of course lighting. Every step -- video based.
I look forward to leave all these "shooting for mistakes" behind me, and shoot for beauty again. Sorry to be so silent here lately. :o) It's quite some work. (The last 212 tutorials were just released in March
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/2/prweb10389851.htm)
Here a source example use in a tutorial, about Smart Objects, Image stacks and how to get noise out based on the Stack Mode "Mean" or Median.

Flower in Ice
A large flower -- frozen in ice. I placed some flowers a while ago in ice, to "time-lapse" them for details in a music video, while melting.
As usual, I changed the script while preparing the project, and the freezer needed the space back ;o)
I placed as only light source a little LED* light under the ice, (*it is in my kit to have the "eye-light" with no problems).

I found some trees which follow my ideas. They support the middle part in a nice way, just enough to reach my target here.
It is not strictly monochrome, more old bleached sepia. However, this is my little contribution to MCM, as I believe that the reduction of chromaticity is there to support the image and not the reduction of colors... ;o)

Enjoy your weekend.

–––––
I Appreciate You
I Appreciate Because of You
–––
An interesting word is "appreciate."
In English, we use it in two different ways. It means, in one form, "to recognize the quality, significance, or magnitude of; to admire, be thankful or show gratitude for" and in another form, "to increase in value".
And, it is in these two forms of use, that it can also be seen as a tool for improving one's own existence. For those qualities which we most admire and are the most thankful for can serve as indicators and a template to guide our course forward to the things we want most to accomplish in life. Those qualities you appreciate are a manifestation of who you are and who you wish to become; they give you a direction to move towards to increase your own value to yourself and others.

Not fast enough of course, but the sun is constantly pushing the cold moisture away. Can't way for the heat...

200 great things about Google+ - the Feb 2013 edition
200 great things about Google+, more specifically 200 great folks whose streams I spend a lot of time in when I'm catching up on G+.
It's also my default stream for the mobile Google+ app when I'm mobile.
There is a little bit of everything here from some top pro photographers, to some community buiders, to some folks I've gotten to know since I started here.
This circle gets pretty much continually updated as folks leave G+ and as I get to know new folks better. However, I've learned that if it gets much bigger than 200, there is still too much in their streams for me to catch up on.
Have a great weekend!

You need only to swap out the number (id=) to get your own page! Just a link - no sign up and free. (I'm just a user of this option, not the coder or the one who had that nice idea!)
Certainly for people who avoid G+, but to give them a short idea of your work (no plus nor comment options though)

"Flare-y-Tale": Winter-Impression, L.A., CA
This lens likes to catch (lens-) flare. It is easy to get very nice ones. The idea here was to take a lot of shots, with more or less (none...) flare, just mixed. While stitching the "pano", I used the lens-flare more deliberately (or not at all in some areas). (85mm, T1.5)
