I don't often ask my circles for help, but this one is important to me, because this is my nephew.
Scott here is a really bright kid. He's a straight-A student, an all-around athlete (basketball, soccer, football and baseball) and a talented artist. However, because his mother is a teacher, and we refuse to pay our teachers what they're worth, he doesn't have access to all the resources he needs to realize his full potential.
Duke's TIP program is a really cool program to invigorate those students who show early interest in academics and give them the confidence and tools to take their education to another level. I did it when I was his age and it was a great experience.
What you have here is an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a great kid. If 1 out of 10 of you could spare $5, we can make this happen for Scott. Please consider making a ... more »

I need to vent. If you, like me, demand a modicum of service from companies, feel free to share this and tell +MINI to stop abusing their customers.
+MINI, why do you hate your customers?
Not only will I never buy another +MINI, I'm going to sell the one I have for a huge loss just so I never have to deal with that company ever again.
Oh, and that +BMW I've always dreamed of? Forget it.
A small sampling of some of my complaints:
- $500 to replace a battery
- Absolutely will not honor their warranty
- Dealer overtightened the oil filter and broke the o-ring. Now, same dealer wants $700 to fix the problem they caused
- Entire car is designed to fall apart at 50,000 miles. Seriously, only 50,000 mile warranty on drive train components? What is this, GM circa 1975?

Well, the night is still young. The table is now turning the collector's edition Glenn Miller box set.
My step-daughter, +Alexis Lopez, agreed to pose for a quick shot.

My self-prescribed pneumonia treatment tonight will be a cup of tea and DMB's Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King on the turntable.

Because everyone else is doing it, and because I need a little inspiration to break out of my current photographic slump, here are my 12 best/favorite images from 2012

Yes, I need to go out and shoot, again. It's been more than 10 weeks since I last went on an outing. Here's one more from #lindavista

There's been plenty of talk lately about how we get more women in engineering.
How about, as a first step, stop driving them away?
I just got this awful email from my alma mater:

Any photographers out there?
The Chrome Stable release that rolled out this week also includes support for ICC v2 profiles. This is a fancy way of saying that photographers (and other digital artists) who work with wide-gamut color spaces won’t have to worry about converting their images to a different color space in order to enjoy their original richness online. The below side-by-side example illustrates the difference that this could make in photographs.

Because it's been a while since I posted two photos in a fifteen minute span. Even longer since I posted two photos in a row from last year.
Here's one of my favorite roads because it leads directly from my front door to the awesomeness that is the 395 corridor. I plan to head down this road in a couple weeks, see some amazing scenery and maybe hunt down some friends to say hello.
Can you beileve I used to think the desert was a place to be avoided? Stupid, huh?

#PanoPoker is back on this Friday evening on the cusp of autumn. A good game is always a great way to get the gang reunited.
This time 'round, we're playing with Roads

Anyone recognize this road? It's one of those lesser-traveled ones. This was one of those trips where it was all about the journey, not the destination. Sorta like life, I guess.

It's been way too long since I've shared a photo for +Gary Crabbe's #FridayGetaway. I've been too busy getting away this summer.
This week, I'm going a bit abstract.

On Friday, August 31, the family of Neil Armstrong held a memorial service celebrating his life in Cincinnati. Coincidentally, that very night, a rare second full moon of the month, known as a blue moon, was seen. In honor of Neil, we asked you to share publicly your photos of the moon from Friday night on Google+ and tag them with the hashtag #WinkAtTheMoon . We have posted a gallery of some of our favorites on our +NASA page.
After Neil’s passing, his family stated: “For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”
Here's some of our favorites, in no particular order:
