After sleeping nearly half of the previous 72 hours, I may be caught up. I actually feel refreshed and a little energetic. At least I don't feel like crawling back in bed.

It may be that I was in sleep deficit from school, and until now I had not given myself time to recover.

I'm hoping someone knows what this is. It's the size of a moss, but it's obviously a vascular, flowering plant. I found it in a crack in the sidewalk (where some of my favorite plants grow) on the NE face of a building in Lexington Kentucky. I'm sure it's a noxious weed that I will regret ever bringing into my house, but I would love to know the name of it. The flowers are actually kinda pretty.

Is anyone in my circles knowledgeable about Acoustics? In particular the resonant properties of drumheads or flexible membranes?

I want to know if I need a tighter or looser membrane to accommodate different frequencies, or if I should try building struts under it like they do with string instrument resonators to encourage a variety of harmonic areas. I'm probably using the wrong terms but someone might know what I mean.

Here's a little project I've been working on for a while - I wanted emulate the scope of an orchestra using a much smaller ensemble of my own, much smaller instruments, released today for International Star Wars Day ( #MayTheFourthBeWithYou )

In this iteration of my 'pocket orchestra' I used ukuleles as my string section, alongside violins, an accordion, melodicas, a penny whistle and some very makeshift percussion (and some other things I've forgotten about). Also I sing in Sanskrit wearing a bath robe. Fun for all the family!

Honest feedback is always very welcome :)

My method is to immerse myself in a tune until I can't think of anything else, then try to exorcise it by putting it into my ukulele.

I just noticed that I went through several dozen posts, enjoying them all, without leaving any hint that I even noticed the person who took the time to write them. 

I apologize for that. I value your time and your thoughts.

But I also don't think that plus-f*cking every post is the answer. 

Open to suggestions here. what I've been doing is trying to plus or respond to at least one post from everyone, everyday.  I only have about 300 people circled so I pretty much know everyone. But some of my favorite people post many times a day and I wouldn't want them to think I wasn't present and reading.

After regretfully confessing my dietary slip last night (cookies) I was teased in a good-natured way by a vegan friend IRL. So I good-naturedly pointed out that when I slipped up I only damaged myself but when he goes off diet it's cold brutal murder of innocent life.

Following the advice of Paul Ekman (if someone calls you a friend but shows you contempt, run, don't walk, out of their life), has been once again completely validated within minutes of putting it into effect. Cursing and screaming and threats were the mild reactions. 

I suspect I decreased the drama in my life by 50% in one quick conversation.

But seriously, there's a formula for estimating the average life span of a creature based upon it's relative size, and this is way outside the curve. Which means the curve is wrong, the age estimate is not based upon the size, instead the age and the size are based upon something else that this creature defeats.

Anyone Missing a Giant Head?

A giant head has been found in the Hudson River in New York, made of fiberglass and Styrofoam, and appears to be modeled after a statue from ancient Greece or Rome.

So far, no one has claimed the head and its origin remains a mystery.
