Three Rock Sculptures
This low island grows, and disappears from time to time as the river condition changes. Some artist comes out here at intervals and builds these scuolptures. I've paddled by at times with nothing, other times I've seen as many as half a dozen.

Help! I've got a problem with "Version 24.0.1312.68"
on Fedora 14 (an RPM install)
After doing a Software Upgrade installing 24.0.1312.68 I no longer can get YouTube or Justin.tv (probably others too) videos to run. All I get is a black screen with a mesage in the middle - very small and hardly readable, but I think it says somethinglike cannot load app.
What do I need to do to get stuff back working - or do I go back to FireFox, which I don't want to do.
All the settings look reasonable and likeI think they looked before.

Winter in Terrapin Park Kent Island, Md. The grasses are dead, and the Wood Duck shelters appear to be empty, When I was #geocaching #geocaching here on a cold overcast day here the only evidence of wildlife visible were some deer prints in the sands way off the paved paths.

Baptismal font at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore, Md.
The club assignment for the month is "shots by the window light". Today there were no artificial lights anywhere in this Cathedral. Actually there was very little light from outside, it was a dark, damp, almost rainy day.

Still Standing
Although it is in very poor condition, this church is still standing. During the week of June 22, 1972 Hurricane Agnes dumped lots of rain in the Mid-Atlantic states. This church is only about 10' above the Potapsco River in Daniels, Md, a small mill town. In Ellicott City, about 5 miles downstream, the flood reached the second story
Today only a couple foundations of homes in Daniels remain. I found this relic on a recent hike. But for a few walls the inside of this building are missing. The only way to reach this church is a mile hike.

Communities may be great, but the web layout sux. Well, I'm using it on Firefox and Chrome on Linux. Column 1 only has 3 items, Home, Communities and More. Column 2, the community Logo and info, is way too wide and Column 4 is sticky way too wide. So the content in Column 3 suffers big time.Photos are just cut off!. It looks good ONLY when I expand the browser to cover both of my two monitors, then the content column is actually readable.
When will Google get this mess fixed. Also I'm getting email whenever a new post is made in any community, how do I turn this off?? There's no reason to look at G+ if I get all those annoying emails.
Yes, the bell says OFF!!

The Old Church at Daniels
All the homes in Daniels, Md, a small company town, were destroyed by flooding of the Potapsco River around June 22-23, 1972 as a result of Hurricane Agnes. Only a few stone foundations remain, but miraculously a little of this one church did survive. Another miracle is that isn't covered with Grafitti. This is only about 20' above the river. There are two other churches in the vicinity, one across the river standing on a high hill, and is in use today, the flooding didn't reach it. And one other that would have been high above the water, but fell into decay when the rest of the town, including the access road, now only a hiking path, cut it off from the rest of the world.

Mountain Thunder pulling into Frostburg, Md. on a cool autumn day.
"WMSR No.734 or L.S.&.I. RR No.34 (Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad) was released from Baldwin Locomotive Works on April 16, 1916. She was built with 57 inch drivers and a operating preasure of 185psi. She worked in the L.S.&.I.'s base in Marquette,Michigan. She worked there with her sisters (33,35, and 36) until No.34 was retired in 1956. She sat in the Marquette deadline intil 1971 when she and No.35 were bought by the IRR (Illinois Railway Museum). No.34 sat there until 1992 when she was bought by the WMSR fpr restoration. She was restored in a year by the shop forces and now has several improvements. No. 734 has an 200psi boiler pressure and a new tender from a NYC Mohawk No.2662. She also got renumbered and many improvements were made to her to make her look like a WMRY 2-8-0. Although she... more »

Not Many Left The outdoor Pay Phone is almost a thing of the past. Surprisingly the one outside this diner still has it's handset and looks like it would take your Quarters to make a phone call.
Oh, the diner. This one "The Forest Diner" on US-40, also known as the National Pike, has been on this location for as long as I can remember - don't ask how long that has been. I've eaten here a few times, not Gourmet Food, but just fine diner fare. On Sunday mornings I've seen lines waiting out front just for breakfast. It was a popular place. I don't even bother to look at the DoubleT next door.
About 5 years ago a new diner - The Double T built a new diner adjacent and bought the Forest Diner, but didn't close it. A couple weeks ago a fence went up around the Forest Diner and destruction began. But it may not be over for the old diner. While tak... more »

Tea
This photo is of the blossom of a Tea plant/tree. They are quite a small flower and and you can see the resemblance to the Camellia, to which it is distantly related. The flower was a little waterlogged as I shot it on a very wet day at the Nerada Estate in NQ
