Yesterday my wife asked me how many days a week I was riding. I decided the truth was necessary. EVERYDAY. She hit me. Jealousy of an ex-racer.

Join us at one of our many, single day photo seminars coming to a city near you focusing on the “Photograph – Visual Strategies for Image Creation.” This class will include a half-day presentation featuring many of Jay’s amazing images and experiences as he teaches you about the design concepts he uses in creating a photograph. The talk will connect how all of these ideals function with the mechanics of the camera and how that interconnects with the personality that typically becomes a photographer. We will then head out into the field for the second half of the day to put everything you learned into a real-world shooting scenario.

You may be wondering what is going on, you may not be. I am finally beginning to see the light. At the end of some tunnel surrounded by massive amounts of to-do lists. Edits for editors, blog posts, image mastering, Patagonia, paying, selling, making, building, finalizing. The list is so huge that it scares the shit out of me. Soon kōhai. Soon. You will see as I do.

Green sand (yes green sand) and black sand beaches, a volcano that rises higher than Mount Everest, waterfalls, fern forests, lava fields, lava, monster, turquoise green waves, and some of the most spectacular sunsets you have ever seen. The Big Island of Hawaii. A country paradise. A photographer’s dream. Join Jay and Gavriel Jecan on one of the most unique travel experiences they have put together to date.
We are not only going to explore some of the most dramatic locations this island has to offer during the best light, but also to learn what Jay and Gavriel consider the most important aspects of photography–composition, opportunity, light, Lightroom, Photoshop, and the overall portfolio. Imagine photographing subjects that move faster than the fastest animal? Making a connection to our wilds and to the human race? Great action sports photography combines all this and more. There are very specific techniques involved in creating a strong portfolio and then bringing that portfolio to the marketplace as a professional. It’s not just the photography, nor the athlete, nor the environment in which we thrive – it is a successful combination of all these ingredients.
Join Jay on this three day expedition where he will cover his successes and failures over his fifteen year career of photographing action sports. You will have multiple chances to photograph your very own athletes in some of the most extraordinary situations in the Moab area. And Jay will teach you the nuances of composition, equipment selections, marketing ideas, and how to promote a brand that heads beyond your current pos... more »

Aspen, Colorado, a town who’s roots date back to the mining era of the 1800’s, sits at an elevation of 7890 feet. A place where the extremely wealthy live alongside of the ski-bumming dirtbag. This area of Colorado is situated amongst 14,000 foot peaks, huge stands of aspen forest, and trout-brimming rivers. Autumn explodes with every hue from yellow to deep crimson and early season snowfall typically covers the tops of the tallest peaks in a blanket of white. This area teams with wildlife, landscape, and macro subjects, and continuously serves up some of the best photography year after year.
Join Jay as he leads a group of photographers here this fall. For 3 days Jay will take you to photograph the peaks, the forests, the streams, the valleys, and the autumn weather. He will critique your work daily, and guide you out in the environment to help you create the strongest compositions possible. Thi... more »

Iceland a place of stunning beauty. Waterfalls, glaciers and geological activity about here. This year Jay and his close friend and fellow photographer Gavriel Jecan are offering an intimate small group Iceland photography workshop. The mission of this workshop is to explore Iceland in search of color, texture, pattern, shape, and form while leading you to creating the most powerful landscape and abstract images that are often overlooked by others. Your vision and technique will be honed right along side your knowledge base of how to process an image as Jay teaches everything from composition to how the individual adjustments of Adobe’s Lightroom software can maximize your created frame and Gavriel discusses all aspects of composition and image creation. Don’t delay this is a very small workshop group size and a very special chance to explore a different side of Iceland.

The Teton Range rises abruptly over the valley surrounding Jackson, Wyoming. Dominated by the largest peak in the range, Grand Teton, they are one of the most dramatic escarpments in the lower 48. Join Jay Goodrich this spring as he ventures to there for the 50th time.
There is much more than stunning scenery in the Jackson, Wyoming area. The meadows and marshes are frequented by moose and elk, bears roam the woods, and deer abound. Ansel Adams captured one of his signature images above a bend in the Snake River with the backlit Tetons looming in the distance.
This seminar will be an intensive three-day workshop in one of the world’s most beautiful locations. Expect days of long, but enjoyable hours, photographing from early morning until sunset.
All aspects of outdoor photography will be covered including composition, field techniques, technology, and the unique p... more »
