散光(astigmatism)正確的醫學名詞應該稱為『亂視』，因影像無法完整正確的聚焦，看到的影像線條為扭曲形狀，使影像呈現『散掉』的樣子，所以大家習慣上又稱亂視為散光。
一般情況下，散光並不會獨自出現，患者的眼睛通常都會伴有近視或遠視，但幸運的是，散光度數是蠻穩定，且比較不會隨年齡增長而增加度數。散光的两个主要症状是视力降低和视疲劳，而且在日常生活和工作中经常不断地使用近视力，为近视功能提供了锻炼机会而加深近視。

A astigmatism is a vision condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye.
Astigmatism frequently occurs with other vision conditions like nearsightedness (myopia) and farsightedness (hyperopia). Slight amounts of astigmatism usually don't affect vision and don't require treatment. However, larger amounts cause distorted or blurred vision, eye discomfort and headaches whereby this can cause myopia more serious in the future.

老年性黃斑部病變(macular-degeneration)是一種隨著年齡的增長，逐漸出現網膜中央部位的退化。視覺上漸次出現視物變形，變大或變小，最終造成視力喪失，通常是兩側性發作，平均第一眼喪失視力的年齡是65歲，以後每年約有12﹪的人另一眼受到侵犯，如此到了70歲時大約有60﹪的患者達到法定失明。
白內障與黃斑部病變都是常見的老人眼疾，兩者可能同時併存，但一般人常以為眼力差就是老花，或錯認為白內障，以至於延誤求診而錯過治療黃金時機。

飛蚊症（Floater)是眼內現象，症狀表現為視野看到陰影物體漂浮。這些物體可以是點狀、條狀、網狀，一個或數個一起出現。這些物體是漂浮在玻璃體當中，隨著眼球的轉動而移動，因如同蚊子在眼前飛舞，故稱之為「飛蚊症」。
絕大多數的飛蚊症並不影響正常的視覺機能，但若有大量或多片黑影出現，或併發畏光、疼痛、淚水分泌過多、視野缺損等現象，或本身患有高度近視、糖尿病、高血壓等疾病，則有可能是嚴重眼疾（如視網膜剝離、玻璃體出血）的徵兆。

近視，簡單的說，就是看不清遠方的東西。看不清的原因是因遠方的影像，進了眼睛後，影像沒有正確的投射在視網膜上，反而投射在視網膜前面，使眼睛失焦，就看不清遠方的影像。
而已得到近視的人，要想恢復正常視力，是很困難(當然，也有少數例外)；這時候，反而應朝向『防止視力惡化』的方向努力才對！隨著科技的進步，去除近視或減低近視度數的手術，也慢慢流行起來，但是手術總是要謹慎看待，而且會帶來意想不到的後遺症，所以你一定要有充足的認識，才能進行。

Nearsightedness, or myopia, as it is medically termed, is a vision condition in which close objects are seen clearly, but objects farther away appear blurred. Nearsightedness occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, has too much curvature. As a result, the light entering the eye isn’t focused correctly and distant objects look blurred.
