I have questions, you have answers

Last year I launched a mini-posting series called Power to the Poster where I asked you questions about Google+. I'm relaunching this for the next month so that all of you can have a platform to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. It'll come out every Wednesday and will be open for 24 hours.

If you are having a particular buggy issue that needs troubleshooting please contact the +Google+ Help page and our team will get right on it. You're also more than welcome to use the Send Feedback button on the left hand navigation (hint: it's at the bottom).

GPlusFixer -- (good extension) click the Read More on this post to see all the extension does for Google Plus.
- the full content of the post is shown (no more "read more")
- the full content of comments is shown (no more "read more")
- comment field is wider – 500px
- no additional scroll in the notification window
- no scrolls in posts
- you can change default font
- new navigation which is always visible and small

All changes are optional, just choose want you need."

I like it. It's not perfect, but it does help.

Issues with Communities. Communities are so much work  --
I remember how excited I was when Google Plus finally got communities. I was THROUGH THE ROOF excited for discussion. I was so happy to finally make a group that was about women. I was so excited that I would get women that were educated and witty and funny and women  that could follow directions and were active G+ members that were talkative. I wanted women that had original ideas. And over the past few months, I've been totally disappointed with the lack of activity or respect that the members give. Basically, people just want to be in the group to talk about HAIR and Hair products and spam me with their personal blog posts about HAIR and hair products. My group is not about HAIR. Did a public hangout. Haven't done one is a while. Had about 2 creeps.  One dude showing his crotch and lots of others being pervy. Basically same old crap as always. I wish I could lock hangouts to countries or languages but G+ won't let us do that.

Social Media Profile Pages  ---
When people (engineers/developers or coders) create the profile pages for social networks, I wonder if they ever actually think if the page is practical and efficient?

Does the page give you a quick overview of the person and what they are about?

Does the person have a small section to write an introduction that will be seen on the landing page of the profile?

Does the page show you a concise and neat list of the other social networks that the person belongs to online?

Does the page have a nice INTRO/ABOUT section that is visible and expands on the profile/landing page. 

Does the page show you in a live tile the blog posts that a person has on Blogger or Tumblr or Wordpress or whatever blog client they use?

Does the page have a live tile section for tweets?

Instead of send FEEDBACK (click the shift + @ on desktop G+) or ask a question in the Google Plus Discuss community or the Google+ Forum group (access from the help center), people will ask for help about issue or problems on posts that have NOTHING to do with the topic /subject of their issues or problems. Why do people do that? Why? ha!  I don't get that at all. 

If a post is about photos, shouldn't you focus your comments on photos. Why talk about desktop issues of hangouts on a post about photos?? I just don't understand people. Why not just create a post and tag the Google+ Help page and post in the Google+ discuss community or send feedback or ask a question in the Google+ forum group about a specific G+ product? Is it really that hard to get attention from G+ employees?? They do have hangouts to let users talk about issues. What am I missing??

Improving the look & feel of Google+ on the mobile web

Quick update for those accessing Google+ from the mobile browser:

- Posts now appear as “cards” in the stream, making it easier to read, +1 and re-share them.
- We've also redesigned the Profile and Page experiences to include cover photos, larger tap targets, and much more.

When uploading videos to Youtube, be aware of the social sharing boxes on the right side of the video upload page. You may or may not want to share your video to G+ or FB or Twitter.

Hey PLUSSERS, how do you find new Hangouts / Video Calls to join?

1. Use a hashtag to search for them via say #hangouts  
2. Just look at requests or start your own via the Hangout Box
3. Start a Hangout Party
4. Click on the Hangouts On Air page to see if you can somehow find any over there 
5. Use an extension ... still
6. Hangout, nobody got time to do that
7. Other

Important Interactive Elements of a Google Plus Post
With the update of the Google Plus design on May 15, 2013 we have quite a few changes. To help you understand some of them, I offer a visual guide to the clickable parts of a New Google Plus Post.

All the referenced or highlighted areas are clickable, including the Poster's name and profile picture. The Options Menu (expanded on the right) will show different options if you are a viewer or the author of the post.

This post was found inside a Google Plus Community (GPC) and was captured that way to show some of the additional areas possible on a post. It was originally created out on my Profile's stream, and then reshared into a GPC called "Hangouts on Air".

+Google+ Help +Google+ please do a video or a screenshot or a gif of the new Hangout app and the settings. Some of us nice Google plus users are answering the same questions over and over again. It's annoying. Explain to the confused G+ users where people are on the hangout app, how to set who can chat/hangout with people -- "Customize Hangout Requests" and all the other tidbits. If you already have a video, share it to your people. Let me know and I'll share.  Thanks.

Google Plus // Pinterest// Springpad// Changes to Google Plus // click full post- more text

I've tried to adjust to the 3 columns and the 2 column look, but it literally makes me dizzy. I've always told you all that I hated Pinterest. The only thing I liked about Pinterest was the layout on the profile page. It was clean and the social network icons were easy to find.  

I really tried to give this look a chance but I really hate it. HATE IT. No, I'm not angry (I'm multiracial with a brown face so I have to tell idiots that I'm not angry all the time b/c they always think black women are angry. Which is total BS.). I just can't adjust to the look. It's not my fault. My eyes and head are not adjusting to it. 

I also thought about how I like Springpad more than Pinterest. Springpad has their posts even and all one size in straighth... more »

You can save posts and comments on Google Plus and access them on Google Plus in the menu bar and you can save posts to Pocket or Instapaper or CircleCount.

On the mobile Google Plus app, tell people in your commentary that the photo is a gif, otherwise, we might think it's just a photo. We don't know. There isn't a hint from the G+ app that tells us it's a gif.

Be careful when reading emotions into the words or text of other Google Plus users. Ask them questions and don't assume you know their emotional state. If you can, join them in a hangout on Google Plus to discuss a topic. You might get to learn things about the person's personality that you didn't know. Just a tip.
