Doge's Palace - Venice

It's been a while since I posted a photo of Venice, and many of you know how much I love that place.
This shot was done at sunrise. That place is really magical in the wee hours, one can wander in that labyrinth with nobody around enjoying peace and silence.
It's always darkest before the dawn, and that moment when the sun finally rises on the city announcing a bright sunny day is the most satisfying thing one can experience, and this doesn't only apply to photography, night never lasts forever :-)

As some of you might know I'm kind of a car enthusiast :-)

So here's my contribution to Classic Wheels  for #hawkeasfriends  by +Fabio Bucchieri  and +Hawkea's friends   

For those who don't know what this is, it is the 1948 Porsche 356/2 Gmünd Cabriolet , one of the 49 cars ever build in the shack in Gmünd, Austria, before F. Porsche moved to Germany. This model belongs to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

This is the Napoleon courtyard. That building was once a royal palace and is now one of the finest museums.
So when in 1989 the french president decided to offer a pyramid , designed by I.M. Pei, this was not everyone's taste ... I'll let you judge :-)

236 Ambassadors for Photography

At the beginning of the month +Photography Decathlon asked for suggestions for who should represent each of the 10 styles of photography that will be represented at this years competition in October. (Teach and judge.)

The post was well received getting 400+ shares and many hundred comments on several different shares.
There were 536 suggestions (thankfully many repeated) and in the end these 236 photographers.

I should share
It dawned on me that people out there really believe in these photographers and therefore a shared list/circle of these people would truly be of a great benefit to all.

Sometimes you find yourself in the perfect spot, at the perfect time ... but you're alone because it is ridiculously early lol
To capture the best moment one has indeed to wake up early, but the earlier you wake up the earlier you start dreaming :-)
I did just that this weekend in Paris wishing I wasn't freezing alone in the wee hours, but it was so worth it, taking pictures to share later with you was such a magic and unforgettable moment :-)

Now, before you all go berserk on me, considering that my photographic style hasn't included anything like this before, it is important that you know that this beautiful image is NOT mine, but it belongs to fellow G+ user +Jorunn Gudlaugsdottir. The reason why I am posting this here is that this awesome image has been blocked by Google plus most probably after some idiot has reported it and I dont think that this is right. I dont see anything offensive, let alone pornographic, in this work by Jorunn. I actually considered it the best image I have see in a long while and as I said already in Jorunn's post, before the image got blocked, I particularly like the light/shadows play that divides the frame in two vertical zones. Anyone that follows me and thinks that this image is offensive is free of uncircle me right now..........

Going there and wandering around, happily getting lost in this maze of alleys and canals is like time travel. It feels like time stopped a long time ago, frozen forever. What brings you back to the 21st century is the horde of tourists haunting the place. Those who have been there will understand what I mean and those who haven't should go :-)

This is another place I particularly like. It is set in a quiet park, at least quiet when you get there at sunrise before it gets crowded with tourists. There is such a magical feeling to that place, set below normal street level, it is like being in a different world. I love wandering around, in the silence, surrounding by those very impressive buildings :-)

Hey G+ Team !!
I have no problem with the new interface and all changes - i sure that i need a few days to understand what happened and where the benefits of the new layout...
I see the HUGE problem in the photography screening on the Home page (btw - the previous name "stream" was MUCH more appropriate for what it doing and "home" - don't you going to loose your special face G+ ??)
The landscape images looks as usual but the portrait and square form with the black, half-transparent framing with the same but larger image on the background, looks mocking
I'm Photographer and i currently exist HERE because a PHOTOGRAPHY... i can't exhibit my works in this comical preview..

It is this time of the year where bunnies are out, if you exclude any Playboy marketing happening, namely Easter.

I was wandering in the woods with my son when we came face to face with Roger. He looked a bit scared, although to be fair I have the same expression every morning in front of the mirror :)

It turned out that Roger is no normal rabbit, he's a dSLR (Deranged Schizophrenic Lost Rabbit) , I didn't know these existed but my amazing friend +Shireen Gastineau , who seems to know a thing or two about rabbit, enlightened me on the subject, now how she knows all this on crazy rabbits remains a mystery to me :)

These are Procuratie Vecchie on San Marco's square in Venice, Italy.
They used to be the offices and apartments of the procurators of San Marco, the basilica situated on the same square. Procurator was the second most prestigious life appointment in the Republic of Venice after the position of Doge of Venice.
Their function was the administration of the Basilica.
