White - or the beauty of heating pipes

I went on a mini-photowalk through town last week with +Ruslan Hrushchak and +Andreas Levi . Discovering that both batteries that I had packed were running low - i needed to limit myself to few shots. Further, I also needed to create some backup images  for a "white" theme.  So while Rusland and Andreas looked for beautiful things to shoot in town - i looked for beautiful white things to shoot in town. That's the moment when even heating pipes get their attention.

two local friends of mine and I headed out to a closeby lake to the south of Leipzig to watch the sunset. And what a glorious one it was, glowing for a long time after the sun had set already.

Dancing in the light

This may not look like a macro-shot. It is a wide-angle close-up. I put my little camera (G12) right to the ground to capture these tiny wide flowers dancing in the setting sun.

Office Culture II

A bit different from the dark series for #stocksy 's "Office Culture" assignment, this one focuses more on space. Large meeting room with a podium for speakers.

Also inpsired to shoot for my own project "Spaces". Loved the symmetry, the coolness of the room, but also the contrast between the coolish color of the wall and the warmish colors of the wood on the floor and the podium chairs. :)

Just a quick update on where +J A Mortram has reached in his campaign to help his blind friend see again. With your help he is now at almost two-thirds of the sum required to buy David a special scanner. That's superb news and thank you so much to everyone who has already contributed. But we need to keep pushing, especially now that the initial fanfare has died down. Jim wants to reach 100 backers by close of play today. That's 10 more people. Let's see if we can beat 100 :-)

Spring in the city

This image was taken almost to the day one year ago - but the town does not look all that different these days - now that spring has finally arrived. This the view from the park near my home to the university highrise, the highest building in #Leipzig .

Spring Comes to Washington Street
Last week, I shared images taken at Harris Street cemetery and remarked that those three trees might have taken the title from my previous 'favorite tree' in town. Three days after taking those images and, appropriately enough, on a Wednesday, I drove up Washington Street and saw 'my' tree in full bloom.

I pulled over and marveled at the tree in its setting with incredible light coming down in the late afternoon. The only problem was the very large truck blocking half of the view. I realized that the house was undergoing some renovations and knocked on the door hoping for a kind face and ready to plead for the crew to move the truck. I was rewarded on both counts and met the current owner of the home who showed me the renovations and let me peak out from the second floor windows to see if I might get a unique vantage point. Sometimes you are lucky to receive some criticism on an image you had and you go back and re-edit from the beginning again. And the re-edited version feels like a completely new image.
