Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) plans to open 10 more sales and service centre (SSC) to expand its branch network.

The group recently opened two SSCs in Puchong and Shah Alam, Selangor, bringing the total number of SSCs nationwide to 35. MBSB also has nine representative offices. 

"The opening of the two SSCs demonstrates the group's ongoing commitment to increasing its visibility and strengthening its position in the central region, particularly in Selangor," said chairman Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali in a statement.

MBSB has also launched the "Save Small Win Big" deposit campaign, a contest that offers its account holders a chance to win prizes that include a Volkswagen Beetle 1.6 and gold wafers. The contest will runs until February 14 2013.

The company is confident it will reach its targeted disbursement of personal loans worth RM8 billion to RM9 billion for FY12 (financial year 2012).

 RHB Research Institute has a fair value of RM2.46 for Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) which is 10 times fully-diluted 2012 earnings per share and is maintaining its Market Perform call.

It said on Thursday that MBSB management's main concern on the Eurozone debt crisis was its impact on funding/liquidity rather than asset growth.

“Nevertheless, we believe the liquidity issue is largely mitigated by the backing MBSB has from its major shareholder, EPF,” it said.

RHB Research said MBSB remains comfortable with asset quality and loan impairment coverage level, and targets to lower its net impaired loan ratio to 5% by end-2012.

“The improvement in the ratio would partly come from the growing loan base and resolution of legacy cases,” it said.

Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) expects to see a monthly disbursement of between RM500 million and RM600 million through its Islamic offering, the Personal Financing-i, as it rides on the As Sidq system's Tawarruq Syariah principle.

Yesterday, MBSB signed a four-year licensing agreement with Idottv Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sedania Corp Sdn Bhd, for the As Sidq system for the Personal Financing-i product.

The As Sidq will enable MBSB to correspond with customers using SMS as a primary mode for Akad agreement and ultimately minimise the turnaround time in the disbursement of financing.

Tawarruq is an Islamic-based product that allows customers to raise funds. In Tawarruq trading, the purchaser buys a commodity from the bank on a deferred payment plan and then sells it to the market to raise instant funds.

PLANS to revive the mostly vacant Pantai Plaza are expected to commence in August and to be completed in stages.

Located along the Federal Highway, the plaza, renamed as Bangsar Trade Centre (BTC) will have a wholesale centre for food and beverage and hospitality industry.

Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) signed a RM120mil debt settlement agreement with Twin Pavilion Development Sdn Bhd to revive Pantai Plaza.

The agreement will also settle the debts of the plaza’s previous owner, Atlas Corporation Sdn Bhd.

Twin Pavilion Development chairman Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib said plans for the plaza included a corporate office tower, convention and exhibition centre, strata office suites and a hotel.

The Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) plans to disburse close to RM500 million loans through its My First Home Scheme campaign this year.

Its chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Ahmad Zaini Othman said if the reception towards the scheme, which is aimed at first-time home buyers, was good, MBSB would increase its target to up to RM1 billion.

"We hope this will provide relief to the targeted group, who are mainly newcomers to the workforce and facing challenge of rising costs of living and properties in the country.

"This scheme is definitely in support of the government's call and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's aspiration to promote home ownership among younger generation in Malaysia," he told reporters after launching the My First Home Scheme campaign here yesterday.
