I just factory restored my Droid razor Max again because it keeps forgetting it has a keyboard. So I created a nothing Gmail account and signed on with it. I use my tablet for everything except phone talking so I will use the phone as something to talk on and a hot spot - everything else will be on the tablet. I'm very disappointed in my Droid phone.

So here are the new glasses. I pretty much hate them. I hate taking them off and putting them on.. what a bunch of bullshit. The Dr. said I need bifocals but he wanted to start me with strong readers so I could get used to wearing glasses for 6-8 months. 

So far I'm really annoyed with taking them off and putting them on again and again let alone the fact that they make me look old as hell.

But they do make reading lots easier, I don't think he realizes how much I read.

A fathers day Mt Climb with my son Greg. 1.5 miles up 750 ft and then back down. It was an amazing hike and my favorite thing was total and complete lack of shade. :/ It made for a Fathers Day hike I won't forget.

I've been called unreasonable, unfair, conservative, difficult, hard headed, a$$hole, and demanding. 

I also get called when there are problems, from a broken furnace, to frozen water pipes, to a difficult boyfriend or girlfriend, to a broken heart, to a back up babysitter, to I had too much to drink and need a ride home.

But I also get called Dad.

Wouldn't trade any of it for a second.

Happy Fathers Day
Friday I was invited by my daughter to attend Coffee and Donuts with Dad, with my 8 yr old Grandson, at Sycamore Canyon Elementary School. As I stood there, after the coffee, watching the students line up to go to class, with 40-50 other Fathers, Stepfathers, Grandfathers, Big Brothers, Uncles, and other men of all ages races and relations, who have either chosen or been chosen, to play the role of Patriarch, or Father, to these elementary school students I was simply amazed.

The energy, the power, the magic, the love and guidance that was so thick that it was almost as tangible as the cinder block walls that made up the school, just left me breathless.

I realized that this fraternity of Men, who stood with arms crossed over their chests, cellphones, in their pockets, emotions not showing on their faces, with their attentions focused on their children, was a... more »

I can't remember the specifics but I'm pretty sure that the US used to take in people from Russia and other nations if they weren't going to get fair trials, were charged with treason, and weren't entitled to a trial and due process in their own countries. Now we all know Snow will never ever have a trial before the American Citizens, hell he may be executed via Drone at any time. I'm not saying what he did was right or wrong, I am saying that he now needs the same protection from the US that used to be offered by the US. What have we become?

As many of you might or might not know I drove a white FIAT Pop for quite awhile. Then we ended up trading it for a Nissan. Well we couldn't Stand it and ended up buying another brand new Fiat from Kearney Mesa Fiat today. This one is green with a slight upgrade on the trim package, (leather wrapped steering wheel, two tone seats, higher quality seats) It is modeled by my Daughter Jennifer. We bought it at Kearney Mesa Fiat and it took about an hour. Wow that's one amazing dealership. I got the car I wanted and the payment is only 11 dollars more per month than I wanted to pay. I usually end up paying more for things I don't really want, and the dealer smiles at me when I tell him the payment I want while greasing me up to stick it to me. Anyway I'm a happy camper.

I remember about 100 years ago when my first marriage was ending. The last year was spent in guerilla warfare, using every single trick in the book from banging others and rubbing it in the faces of one another to one of us actually insisting that the other of us babysit while the other went out with their friends to fuck around. It was horrible in all caps.

At the same time we both wanted it to work and were absolutely terrified of what would happen if it didn’t, even though we actually hated each other’s guts. Eventually the marriage imploded. It ended in a blood bath that resulted in gargantuan casualties on both sides. The most evident being my daughter. It was so bad, that looking back I have no idea who won and who lost. So today the two big stories that I can see are that absolute proof exists that all Verizon cellphones, and more then likely all cell phones in the US have been monitored with all the data and metadata saved and stored under a Rolling Court Order that allows the collection from all phones whether used for local national or international calls and renews every 3 months and has been in existence for the last 7 years, effectively violating the Constitutional Rights of everyone in the US that carries or has carried a cellphone...

And that the IRS basically ripped of the Government of millions of dollars years ago for so called conferences. (The IRS has already dealt with the matter and cut their conferencing budget by over 80%, but it does have video of IRS people looking like idiots and assholes.)

First Journal Entry:

You would think a journal entry would have a date on it wouldn’t you? Well, before the world ended it would have. But things are different now, because the world has ended.

Obviously I don’t mean ended like disappeared, or stopped spinning, or was slammed into by a meteor, or was taken over by aliens, or any of that bullshit we used to watch in the movies, but it has ended just the same. By ended, I guess I mean has changed, has been altered, and it can never ever be the same again.

I’m rambling. I need to stay focused. I need to put this down. Things will change again, they always do.

This morning Greg was sent to my office because he was drinking something from an Arizona Iced Tea container that didn't seem to be Arizona Iced Tea.

Mmmmmm Hmmmmm.....

It was in fact cranberry juice and once that was determined we allowed him to go back to his class. We just like to let the parents know when their child has an unexpected contact with the office.

life and the afterglow

There is something about The Counting Crows August and Everything After album and the afterglow that just plunges my soul into a melancholy well of emotion and reflection.

It's not sadness but just a moment to reflect on all that has happened, all that is happening, and all that will happen, mingled with the stark realization that like a pebble of sand on an endless beach my control is limited to the point that it seems an illusion.

So while the album plays on I get out of the bed, I light another cigarette, I pour myself something to drink, and count my blessings, because really what more can anyone do?

CalMed 420 – My Medical marijuana adventure.

It was a little grubbier then I imagined it would be. The halls kind of smelled like pee, and the short skirted, tattooed, 20 something, hottie that handled the front desk wasn’t exactly what you would expect at the front desk of medical office.

We had been told that it was the last legitimate Drs. Facility in San Diego where you could get the medical marijuana card. I just went along with her to keep her safe as both of us were completely unsure of what to expect.

She filled out the paper, and had her current prescription in hand and we waited in the waiting room.

I people watched. The other patients weren’t for the most part what you would expect.
 
One woman in her sixties, explained to the intake person, that she hadn’t actually seen a Dr. in 17 years, but she was pretty sure she hadglaucoma... more »

So after an hour long appointment with an optometrist taking every test in the book including dialation tests, and forever with my head jammed in the box with a patch over one eye and then the other, and another test comprised on the same question again and again, which is clearer this one or that one, the consensus is that my eyes are in pretty good shape for a man my age although obviously they aren't as good as they used to be and he will have me start with these which will cause about a 60% improvement and get me used to wearing glasses and then after 8 mos or a year or so he will give me bifocals, which will eliminate the annoying halo effect around the extra light things....

Long Story Short

your old now and these are some of the changes your body will make and you should just get used to it... oh, and your too fat, and you shouldn't smoke

Here’s the thing about drinking…… I said to my idiot Son, and listen carefully, because you losing control brings shame to our entire family. Don’t drink to get drunk, most people don’t; and those that do aren’t doing it right for the most part.

Drinking is like carrying a gun for your own protection. Getting drunk is like killing everyone at first site to keep yourself safe, and telling someone they need to drink more to get drunk is like telling someone carrying a gun for self-defense that they are doing it wrong because they haven’t killed anyone.

The point is this. Any idiot can drink, that’s the easy part. The tricky part is having a drink or two, relaxing, saying to yourself, this is nice, and then shifting to coke, or coffee, or ice water, or what-the-fuckever.

I’ve spent the last couple of days with family, step-daughters, son, grandson, (Phil – Jennifer and Sharon’s birth Father) and my wife.

It’s just been good, the whole thing. Not awkward, just good.
When you’re in a situation where everyone wants the best for everyone else, when everyone is willing to put self, to the side, and put the benefit of others first… well, if there is a heaven, and it can be on earth, I think this would be it.
