The problem with social media. Don't say you care, because you probably can't. To you I'm just words on a computer/tablet/phone screen. I don't take a shit, I don't cry alone in the dark, I don't have sex, I don't eat or drink. How could I? I don't exist outside this box where you see this text.

Walking in a Winter wonderland, at long last! The first snowfall of the season arriving here in Zuid-Holland, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Taken in my local park soon after the blizzard started. The massive deluge building up in no time at all. Felt great to be the only person around, initially, creating the first set of footprints in the finest of powdery snow.

Enjoyed a fabulous sunset the other night, whilst walking along the Nieuwe Maas river. The industrial terrain on the other side, hideous eyesore by day, awesome silhouettes after dark! Not the sharpest but it was bitterly cold and try as I might I couldn't stop the shaky hands!

My local Oranjepark in the Dutch city of Vlaardingen. Looking less 'oranje' & more mono. Attempting dodging & burning techniques with gimp but not convinced I'm doing it correctly. Yet. Practice makes perfect!

Nice to finally see a little sunshine between the storm clouds. You can just about make out the warmth of the setting sun on the buildings. Flash floods and extreme weather warnings subsiding but it's still extremely windy. Absolutely crazy weather we've been experiencing here this past week, even by The Netherlands' standards!

Happy New Year everybody! Yep, I'm sure you've seen your fair share of fireworks already but here's a handful more.

NYE was a quiet affair for us last night, spent at a friends house in the Dutch city of Middelharnis, but we enjoyed a firework photowalk for more than an hour around the neighbourhood. The Dutch are completely firework crazy, never experienced anything of this magnitude back home. The entire country pretty much erupts, day and night, for the three days they are permitted to be sold here. Celebrations started here at 8.00AM yesterday morning!

Pleased to be closing the door on 2011. A pretty tough year, in a nutshell. Onwards and upwards, it's the only way from here! Happy New Year everybody. Let us make it a most joyous and prosperous 2012 for us all.

Yay! Feeling festive. I've been listening to classic Christmas tunes all day, plus I put up the tree this evening. So what's the first thing I do? Grab the camera for the cliche of the photography world that is the bokeh christmas tree light shot! Well, it's my first attempt, you can't blame me. The lights arranged in a kind of bell shape was unintentional :)

'A simple rose.' - A quick snap of my winter bouquet currently brightening up my living room. It has been a while since I posted or interacted but I'm still here, I haven't lost interest!

It's been so hectic and busy around here lately but in a good, organised fashion for a change! I haven't been out and about with my camera for the past week, think I'm having withdrawal symptoms. Hope to rectify this soon, especially now the festive season is upon us :)

'The road to nowhere.' I can't resist adding another fog-filled photo from Sunday. This was the fog at it's most dense, around lunchtime.

So fantastic walking through this, just me and my camera, and the only sound being that of the dew dropping from the branches. This was the most serene and tranquil I have felt in a long time :)

A selection of fog scenes from the last couple of days. Critique welcome, although bear in mind I am a newbie! Plus this was actually my first attempt at photographing fog with my dslr. I think I needed longer exposures? I hope this weather continues tomorrow!
