During a rest day on the Annapurna part of our trek even the mules had a chance to relax and take in the spectacular views. Well, perhaps they were more interested in the grass...

Honored to have one of my images selected for inclusion in http://www.photoextract.com/plus-extract/2012/8/28. Some wonderful images here!

This was the view from my tent on a rest day during the Annapurna part of our trek. We could hear monks chanting for much of the day at this spot making the experience almost surreal.

"Nothing Left To Fear" - I spotted this gentleman in a small village near Gurkha while hiking in Nepal in 2011. He consented to have me take his picture. It is now one of my favorite portraits.

I captured this yesterday at the Raptor Center near Sitka, Alaska. The injuries this Bald Eagle suffered will unfortunately prevent it from ever being released. There are numerous other uncaged eagles in the area feeding on several species of salmon.

A quick grab this afternoon from the field behind our house. The osprey was having an argument with a blackbird.

Captured yesterday in Jackson, NH. There ought to be a law against exposed wires adjacent to covered bridges! At some point I may go back to Photoshop and remove them but no time today...

B-17G "Nine-o-Nine" at night - Sept, 2010. This aircraft travels around the US as part of the Collings Foundation fleet of historic warbirds. The moon was providing some backlight for the clouds in the background as well.
Friend and fellow photographer, Skip Foisy and I worked together to perform the lightpainting technique required to produce this image and a number of others that night.

360 photographers plus myself and a couple of relevant pages.
Validation process
This circle has been validated to the max. If you're in this circle you met all of the requirements and showed a nice selction of images in your stream. I personally checked more than 520 profiles to bring you this circle of hand-picked photographers that deserve more attention. I also had the help of +Margaret Tompkins in assembling the temporary circle for validation and +Manuel Votta for helping me to verify some of the requirements.
The main reasons for exclusion:
• The circle announcement wasn't shared.

From my visit to Scotland in 2010. I had the entire place to myself and after this shot, I climbed the circular staircase five stories to the ramparts of this beautiful ruin. It was a tight squeeze even with the tripod collapsed and I worried about banging my camera against the walls.

There seems to be renewed interest in my Circle of "Great Photographers with fewer than 15'000 followers". So, in cooperation with +Peter From, I'm in the process of putting together a new circle from the ground up. It doesn't matter if you're into nature, portrait, street, or any other type of photography, as long as your stream contains good quality original work. Everyone with 15'000 followers or fewer is welcome to ask for inclusion.

This afternoon I was returning to the house from the back field when this barred owl swooped low right in front of my truck! I watched where he (she?) landed and got back to the house and put my 200-400 on the D7000 (rather than the full-frame D3x) to get the longer effective focal length. I didn't really expect the owl to still be there, but I was fortunate. He seemed to sense I meant him no harm as he was content to simply watch me watch him. What a fun experience!

Mountain Photographer Circle - Update 3!
My idea is to create a circle for people who love to take photos of mountains, mountain landscapes and sceneries.
I'd like to see some nice green hills, steep rocks, cliffs, big walls and of course the top peaks.
Simply comment on this post and tell me your suggestions ... and please share this post so that other great mountain photographers can find us !
I will add you if you post some great mountain landscapes from time to time but I will not add you if you have too much animated gifs or exclusively shared posts.
I'm looking forward to visit your profiles and see a lot of great work !

El Capitan from Dewey Point. This was captured during my only visit to Yosemite several years ago. I was there on a weekend when there was considerable haze / smoke from fires to the East.

This technology demonstration shows the ability of a 'camera' to see around corners! http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2012/camera-sees-around-corners-0321.html I previously posted a link describing the very clever techniques that enable this. By using femto-second laser pulses, a streak camera, and some clever software to reconstruct the scene, they can also create a 'slow motion' video or light propagating as well.

This is the Saco River bridge in North Conway, NH, USA. It is a panorama with much detail, that unfortunately cannot be fully appreciated in this smaller version.

"The Other Woman" was photographed in Jerome, AZ in 2010. While the image is extremely busy, with lots of distractions for the eye, it's still a favorite.

I created a documentary / travel video of our trip to Nepal in the Fall of 2011. This is a draft as it has some really rough edges. The video is here: http://vimeo.com/34953430
If you decide to watch, it is a bit less than 30 minutes in length and is best viewed in full screen mode. Vimeo will only show 780p which is OK, but not as good as the 1080p version. Sit back with a glass of wine or beer and mellow-out. For any real videographers out there, I'm looking for critique as this is the first video I've done.

Captured in November 2011 near Humde looking South. The prominent peak (unnamed) in the background is actually on an East-West ridge that ascends another 1500+ meters to the summit of Annapurna III (7555m) which is not in view. The power lines are from a hydro plant a bit further up the valley.
It would have been easy to remove the power poles and lines and it would certainly improve the image aesthetically. However, it seemed that idealizing this shot would have been misleading.
