The bi-annual outdoor art exhibition Open Art starts tomorrow in my hometown (Örebro, Sweden). These are iPhone-photo of some of the participating objects.

Today, we stumbled upon a quite big bicycle race. It was part of the county championship, but since biking is really large here, the race was larger than one might think. The main road through the town was closed for eight hours, police preceded the peloton, and service cars and an ambulance came after the peloton.
I made a single shot with my iPhone and I am satisfied with how the phone handled the situation.

I'm on vacation at Can Picafort, Mallorca, Spain. A vacation with a one year old is a lot different from a vacation without children..,
Nevertheless, I managed to sneak out for a quick photowalk. Excluding walking time, I made around 160 photos in thirty minutes. I definitely got some keepers, especially some nice silhouettes against the sunset. The photo in this post was made with my iPhone on the way back to our hotel.

My first magazine cover!
Pyrenaica, the magazine for the Federación Vasca de Montaña (Basque Mountaineering Federation), decided to put my image of the Svolvaergeita (Lofoten Islands, Norway) on the cover of their 250th issue. For me, this is an honor as basque mountaineers are among the very best in the world.

Lake Tso Kar, Manali-Leh Highway, Ladakh, Indian Himalayas.
The night before we crossed the highest mountain pass on our bicycle ride through the Himalayas, we stayed close the the shore of Lake Tso Kar (elevation 4,530 meters). We rode unsupported and our panniers were full of necessary equipment, everything from a tent to spare parts to detergent to wash our clothes.
As we made some tea with our fellow bicyclist Steve, a number of jeeps suddenly appeared. A guided tour group of mountain bikers had also chosen this location as night camp. As the bikers rested, a large number of staff made their camp ready. The group even had a chef with some helpers that immediately started to prepare dinner.
While the mountain bikers only had to focus on bicycling, we felt that they missed a lot by their choice of travel. They had to do nothing of the planning; they didn't have to... more »

Plus One Collection
I'm very excited and proud to be featured in the printed 2013 edition of the Plus One Collection charity project. The competition this year was fierce and I was more or less certain that I would make the cut this time.
The image is from one of the premiere hotels in Stockholm, Hotel Nobis.

Here is the 4th part of my list of the top 500 most followed photographers - The first 250 where share in this circle:https://plus.google.com/u/0/103236949470535942612/posts/WxdMk32Fw1V
If you are on this list, I urge you to comment, plus and share the post. Once I get to 500 photographers, I'll share this as a circle. Because of the limits of G+, this will take two more posts. My current guess is that the 500th person on this list will have a littl over 20'000 followers
I have sifted through lots of pages and circles as well as http://circlecount.com/ to try to get an accurate list. If I'm missing any... more »

Glendale Motel
Under the right conditions, you can produce quite good iPhone photos without any Instagram-like processing.
This is a motel at a very small town in Nevada, Moapa Town, northeast of Las Vegas. We made a short stop fill up our car and I noticed this nice vanishing point at the nearby motel.

Swiss Alpine Marathon is a 79,4 km (49.3 miles) trail ultramarathon held each year in the mountains around Davos in Switzerland. The race took place last weekend and my fellow countryman, Jonas Buud, won for the sixth consecutive year. I participated in the race last year and managed to reach the finish line after almost 11 hours.
This photo was made last year during a pre-walk along the hardest parts of the race.

The new edition of The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite is finally here!
You can order signed copies directly from me here:
http://www.michaelfrye.com/books/books.html
You can also find it in the park at The Ansel Adams Gallery or Valley Visitor Center, or order it directly from the publisher, Yosemite Conservancy. And it will be available from Amazon soon.
The new edition has three new locations, and completely revised and updated information for the entire park. You'll find new tips specifically designed for digital photography, including Digital Camera Settings, White Balance, Exposure, and HDR and Exposure Blending, plus Depth of Field, Filters, Night Photography, and much more. Most of the 100+ photographs are new too, and the reproductions are excellent—a pleasant surprise for an inexpensive guidebook.
Of course if you prefer the c... more »

Olympic Jubilee Marathon 1912-2012
On July 14 in 1912, one hundred years ago today, the most prestigious event during the 4th Summer Olympics in Stockholm - the Marathon - was held. Today, down to the very minute, an jubilee marathon was took place to celebrate the 100 year anniversary. The course was a replica of the 1912 course, naturally with some small deviations where the 1912 roads no longer existed.
When I first heard rumors of this marathon, back in 2008, I immediately decided to participate. Today, waiting for the 50-shot musket salute to start the race, I was more or less totally unprepared to run a marathon since my training has been severely limited due to the birth of our son three months ago, but this was a once in a lifetime event that I simply had to take part in. Naturally, I ran slowly to not overextend myself and it worked very well as I didn't feel tire... more »

Another day, another trip to the dumpster to see what's for lunch
This is Bernadette. She doesn't like me much. Actually she doesn't like anyone much. I think she tolerates me because I give her money for food and coffee.
When I first met her, she stared at my camera and told me I better not take any pictures of her.
She scared me. A lot.
But I made a decision at that moment:
I told her that I take pictures to help tell stories like hers; that being homeless is an incredibly horrifying thing to me and maybe if I take enough pictures, something will change. And then I started to walk away.
I got about fifteen feet when she yelled "you're really not gonna take any f***ing pictures?"
"I told her 'nope' You asked me not to and you scare me."
She cracked a smile. "Good"
"So can I take a ... more »

This is, as far as I can tell, the photo that I posted in my first public post at G+, a few days after G+ opened to the public. I'm on vacation and I only have access to the iOS app but I'm fairly confident that this is the right photo.
I'd like to thank all of you that have commented or +1'd my photos during the past year. Thank you!
I made this photo during a photowalk at Point Richmond in the Bay Area. The railroad that once passed through the tunnel closed years ago.
